    Hi I have the exact same motor.. do I need to run antifreeze through the motor somehow.. or will the lingering residual water from the hose be ok inside the motor and you don't run antifreeze through it? Thanks!

    Great video, Thanks! Did you clean the pump afterwards and if yes, how?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I leave the pump attached and just plug it so it doesn’t leak. Transfer it to a new bottle when needed.

    Thanks for the video. I'm working on several engines and having trouble with getting the lower bolts out. Any suggestions?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Take a heat source like a small propane torch to the bolt and heat it up for a few seconds. Or use a lighter. Doesn’t usually take much. Other option is invest in a impact screw driver. You could try using a regular screw driver and and a hammer to tap the bolt. But your best bet is a heat source. Just be careful not to set it on fire. Let me know if ya get them out. Cheers

    Where to purchase and what size/name of adapter for pump that you show during video?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any marine store or even an auto parts store should carry this pump. The pump comes with both adapters usually. I think there is usually only the two sizes. Amazon has the quicksilver gear lube pump with both adapters for like 15$

    Where do you get the seals? Are they easy to find at Canadian tire for example?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got mine at the local marine store. Try figure out who sells them and I’m sure the parts department will find some for you. Cheers

    Any recommendations for place to find a printed maintenance manual on a 2016 carbed version of your motor?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only have the one I got from the dealer. Online I have not tried to look for one. I would try a dealer and see if they can get you one.

    What do you do to that motor to keep it so clean? I have the same exact one and after a year of use it looks like it’s been three. Any tips?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do wax it a few times a year. I wash it every time I come back from a camping trip and after every time I come back from a saltwater fishing trip.

      @aus5405 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bigair01 yeah I scrub my entire boat and engine with simple green after each use, but I can’t seem to keep the dark black shine. What type of wax do you use?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a megiuars wax. It’s a paste. Use it on all my vehicles. Works awesome

    Can you tell me where you to get the washers and the oil and the ready for my first oil change this year

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure any mercury dealer would have the oil and washers you need. I never purchased it online cause I didn’t know the part numbers offhand. Usually if you give the serial number on your motor to a parts person they will make sure you are getting the proper parts and oil

    Good video and I followed all the steps but oil is leaking out. Not from the oil hole screws but from a small vent hole ?? on the other side of the lower unit when the motor is in the up position. What did I do wrong? What is the purpose of the small hole?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Gorman is it the same motor as mine? Mine only has the lower bolt for drain/filler hole. Then there is a wash screw and the oil level screw. Otherwise your gear box should be sealed. It shouldn’t be coming out of any holes unless you forgot to put a bolt in. The vents on the lower unit is the water pickup. So it definitely should not be coming from them. It’s hard to say without looking at it. But if it’s the same motor as mine you should only need to remove 2 bolts to change the oil.

      Brian did you ever figure out what the deal was with the small vent hole? I just got a 2017 Mercury 20 ELH and it leaks some water from the same opposite side hole you refer to.
