    The right hand turn straight after takeoff was even more impressive than the short landing. It felt like the pilot used a handbrake to make that turn.

      Absolutely! That slip turn right after takeoff was wild-it really did look like the pilot pulled an imaginary handbrake! It’s amazing how agile this aircraft can be, even at its size.       @@UraFlight I don't think any jet can be as slow as a turboprops with similar size, but kc-390 stall speed is around 120mph (with flaps), witch is pretty slow for a cargo jet.

    Sweden is buying these as replacement s for its ageing Hercs. I imagne the order is connected to the JAS39E deal with Brazil. Great modern cargoplane.

      It can also ve fitted with a fire fighting modular system apparently, which may come in handy, should Sweden or a neighbouring country suffer from forest fires.

      @@tricuarta A 400 is to large to use on roads so it was never in the competition it is planed to be used to insert troops supplies using the road network across Europe.
      Embraer will fill that role splendidly.
      Also a strategic advantage The Embraer has when being able to land on same location that Gripen can is that it can carry all logistics necessary for a FOB for Gripens.

    The C-390 seems to be excellent competition for the Lockheed C-130J. The C-390 has greater speed, payload, range, and altitude. Plus it's less expensive! What's not to love?

      @@PWC67: The C-130J (the current model) has a range of 3,300 km while carrying 15 tons of cargo.
      The C-390 has a range of 5,800 km with the same load, but it can also fly 2,700 km while carrying 23 tons.

    The cargo weight at 26tons and short lift and landnings made Sweden chose this plane and it will fit right in to their air force road bases.

      It needs bigger engines to impress. The C-17 has remarkable combat takeoffs and landings. If that little thing can’t compete with the C-17’s performance at the Embraer’s size, it’s worthless imho.

      It's a cargo plane, a transport plane, naturally people aren't shocked, if it were an attack plane, a fighter, I believe that yes, it would have more innovation, something more eye-catching, despite this Embraer being beautiful, elegant.

    Ten zwrot po starcie i dodanie gazu. Manewry tego typu są skrajnie niebezpieczne. Widać, że ma rezerwę ciągu, sporo większą od mocy startowej. Wygląda to jak reklama samolotu lub przygotowanie do pokazu.

W samolocie polegającym na sile nośnej, taki skręt mógłby doprowadzić do utraty zdolności do lotu. To są właściwości samolotów myśliwskich.

      @@hvnterblackI’m agree with you on that excellent explanation! Usually if you do that kind of turn let’s say on Cessna 152 it will lose a lift due to a decrease of airflow around the wings. But in reality this Embraer did it very easily 😊

    I've read about the C-390's takeoff/landing performance.....but seeing it. That is spectacular. Any air force that isn't planning on adding the C-390 to its fleet is not serious about supporting its nation's national security mission.

    I've seen a C-17 do the same thing at an airshow before. Much more impressive for a plane that size. It also backed onto the runway from parking before taking off in an impressively short distance. Those massive reversers can stop on a dime.

      @@topfelya The point here is that, the C-390 uses the same type engine of the Airbus A320 with a special military tunning...
      Is the most powerful variant of the family, V2531-E5 with almost 140 kN (139,4)!
      So is not a special projected engine, but a cheap and available off the self solution...

      I don’t know how it compares, but they already had the BAC 146/AVRO RJ85 and AVRO RJX, which all have had very good short field performance. In the US were using the old RJ 85s for firefighting.

In addition, there is speculation about individual or all-in-one versions for India with modules: firefighting, medical evacuation, surveillance and reconnaissance, Airbone Warning(AWACS), Command and Control, Communication Post... which would not be new since Embraer already has these technologies

      @@bollewillem1 Well, that's an airshow, what they give us the public, what you want is a technical show, what they give customers, I don't think we have any of those on the internet, I mean, we don't have "non controlled" tech shows footage.
      But I can guess it's good, otherwise, why NATO countries would buy this thing instead of the Herc, a proven Airframe?
      BTW, I think the only STOL videos of this aircraft on service is from a Madeira Airport Spotter, I don't think the aircraft was full either, but it was on service.

    Can anyone try to find this airstrip and calculate based on the footage where the aircraft landed and where it stopped and thus the total lenght of track needed for the stop?

      This was filmed at Farnborough Airport! 🛬 It would be awesome to see someone calculate the exact landing and stopping distance based on the footage. For reference, the KC-390 can land in as little as 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) at sea level with a 26-ton payload. That’s what makes its short landing performance so impressive! Farnborough’s runway length definitely adds to the excitement, but the aircraft’s design really makes it possible. Thanks for the idea!

      In the video, we see two big long rectangular structures. with straight roofs (at least on the long axis)
      One at 0:10
      The other at 0:15
      None of the two seem to exist at the GoogleMaps imagery. Are those TWO buildings completely new?

      So the only mismiatch seems to be the 2nd long building because as we can see here, maps.app.goo.gl/kU6MxCcfXiU6tewe7 the hangars at the time of this satellite image all had curved roofs.
      edit, the curved roof hangars are seen AFTER the big long rectangular building.
      not trying to be a pain in the ass here... I am just trying to triangulate everything so I can discover where exactly was the camera man. So we can, by drawing lines from camera man to background strctures, know precisely where the airplane touched down and then stopped.

      ​@@rogeriopenna9014 I was standing exactly here: 51.275931891926646, -0.7724575676512625, right next to the old airstrip, near runway 24. The aircraft stopped after landing right in front of me, where I was standing, next to the runway markings for runway 24. By my calculations, the landing distance was probably around 600 meters. You can see the old runway in the video at 0:12 seconds

      This specific aircraft (PT-ZNG) still experimental, but the flight envelope still being tested. You can snotice how the fly-by-wire comands some aerodynamics surfaces to keep it within the correct flight envelope during the maneuver. But I'm pretty sure that's there some room for even more sharp maneuvers. It will improve during time (it's still a "recent" project).

    Stall speed of 104Kts, so presumably approach at 135Kts /landing flare at well under 125Kts. So what was the landing roll? Someone said it was 16 seconds...not sure if that is impressive for a 125Kt deceleration? Specs say 1,000 meters for landing distance...that would be fully loaded. Did this (presumably completely empty) plane do half that? Still, 500 meters is not "shocking", nor even extraordinary for a cargo transport.
