It’s about time!!!!! Robins voice is damn beautiful, please react to “I Started A Joke” 🙏🏼
Massachusetts I started to joker are the very first songs I heard by the Bee Gees. 🎶💜🎶
Yes, the version from this same concert!
One of my favorite songs.
yes!!!!
Yes that and New York Mining Disaster 1941
When people say, The Bee Gees, all they think about is freaking Disco! Few people remember they had a hell of a pop career before that. This song, I started a joke, & many more, my all time favorite is, “To love somebody.” I’m glad y’all turned people on to the pre-disco Bee Gees.
I agree with you except, they haven't even been turned on to the 60's Bee Gees. This is a first, all their other Bee Gees reactions are from the crap disco era.
Disagree. Lots of people know pre disco Bee Gees.
@@davidrold9770
Yeah, the ‘60s Bee Gees were the best, I dedicated “To love somebody” to my fiancé in 1967. But they followed the money & went into Disco & I stopped listening to them forever after that.
I never think of the bee gee 's other than the 60's. That's what I grew up with and never liked the disco era bee gee 's
So true!! They are one of the best groups of all time!!
Robin Gibb at his best. The Bee Gees are eternally great!
Yes, finally, you are getting to what made the BeeGees famous. Pick any song of the album "BeeGees Number Ones". "I started a Joke", "I've Gotta get a Message to You", "Words", "World" or "How do you Mend a Broken Heart". You will not be sorry on any song off that album.
You have only scratched the surface of their incredible harmony. Something that seemed to get lost in their "disco days".
Robin's voice is hauntingly beautiful..❤
I Started A Joke is another song with Robin as the lead, and I'm sure you would love it.
Robin’s leads always bring tears to my eyes. So sad that he passed so young. You’re so right in calling his voice “hauntingly beautiful “. ❤
Can we appreciate this is a live version? Those perfect harmonies are talent not autotune. Please, more pre disco Bee Gees!
In my opinion, reactions to any Gibb Brothers should always be their live performances because they are always so great❤
Robin has the most beautiful voice. Please listen to I Started a Joke! Its my favourite!!
Guys, it’s the Gibb brothers…not Gibbs. And Maurice is pronounced like the name Morris. Beautiful song by my beautiful Bee Gees. Try “Run to Me” next. The harmonies will knock your socks off.
No, it's just like it's spelled, Maurice. You're hearing their accent
@@marioserrano6333 actually we Brits almost all pronounce it "Morris",Americans pronounce it as it's spelt which is closer to the original French pronouciation🎩
@@marioserrano6333It's pronounced Morris.
Brothers Gibb
Big deal on pronunciation....as long as they got the name right.👍
Disco BeeGees is only a small part in their career. Most of us feel in love with the early BeeGees and we have told you this multiple times - thanks for finally getting to the best BeeGees!!
"For Whom the Bell Tolls"...Robin owns it...beautiful song.
YES! Please do this one. Robin shines. The video from NY is the best with the NY skyline behind them.
th-cam.com/video/qrvX3BS8dW0/w-d-xo.html
@clerakitty, Absolutely, Robin's best song and backed with New York city skyline, overlooked for far too long, and it must be seen with the original video.
It's a shared lead with Barry & they already did it.👍
Pre-disco Bee Gees is some of the best pop music ever made.
What turd said!
Yes it’s a shame that many people when they think of The Bee Gees only know them for their “disco era” music. Don’t get me wrong, they produced some great songs during that time but there are so many gems from the late 6s to early 70s. I Can’t See Nobody is one of my favorites. Other great songs are Got To Get A Message To You, To Love Somebody, First Of May, I Started A Joke.
Yes, they had so many great hits before all the disco crap era. And that's all Jay & Amber seem to react to.
@@pjg58x Yes also Words, How can you mend a broken heart, Holiday, I've got to get a message to you, New York mining disaster....
@turdferguson3475 I never liked disco, and when they did it, I was so disappointed with them.
This was written when the twins were still in their teens and Barry barely out of it! Amazing! Btw, Maurice is pronounced Morris.
Love pre disco BGs, grew up listening to them... here are a few you can check out...
"Holiday ( 1967)
"I Can't See Nobody (1967)
"Tomorrow Tomorrow" (1969)
"World" (1967)
"New York Mining Disaster 1941" (1967)
“First of May” (1969) ...
“To Love Somebody” (1967) ...
“Run to Me” (1972) ...
”I've Gotta Get a Message to You” (1968) ...
“I Started a Joke” (1968) ...
”Words” (1968)
I'm not sure why everyone forgets l "Lonely Days" It was their venture into a more Rock sound !!!!!
@@bgallagher8129 YES! Love that song too... plus I love their last album... this is where I came in!
One of the first hits of the bee gees, Robin sings this one. This is before Barry found his voice.
In the video f rom 1967 Robin and Barry sing this song together and you mean Barry found his falsetto voice!😆
@@nelerhabarber5602 yes lol 😂😂
I am so glad you checked out this song! One of their early songs and it truly showcases the quality of Robin’s beautiful voice and live. Amber’s smile was priceless!
Robin and Barry shared the lead in the early days; Barry took over in the disco era; and they shared again in the later years.
Robin’s most famous lead songs are this one and I Started a Joke. Country Lanes is another beautiful one. I personally love 2 live performances that were 30 years apart. In 1974 I Can’t See Nobody
and Please in 2003 right after Maurice passed suddenly.
And to get a sense of his falsetto, check out Living Together! You will be shocked- it is higher than Barry’s!
Two great songs where Maurice sings lead are Closer than Close and Man in the Middle. He truly blended their voices together and was the glue.
The Bee Gees transcended over 50 years and are truly one of the best bands of all time.
Robin's performance of "Please" in Europe was just weeks after losing his twin. Heartbreaking because it was obvious who he was thinking of.
@@susieq9801yes Susie. You could tell he was very broken up. And while the song had a different intention, it also captured how he was feeling about his brother.
Beautiful song. The harmonies always give me the chills. 💞💞💞
Well said..
There was a tribute to the BeeGees a few years back, and Ed Sheeran covered this and did an amazing job. This was one of their first big hits while still in England and Australia, and it was huge. And if you like Robin's voice, this one and "I started a joke" show how great Robin's voice was. He and Barry were very similar in tone and sounded like one when singing together. So Amazing
Lonely Days or I Started a Joke as mentioned below. Joke is also Robin on lead vocal and both are pre-Disco hits. Lonely Days has a video from 1970 which shows Barry with long sideburns and no beard. That video is 4:11 in length. We all love the pre-Disco songs, but it's a good thing they had that Disco run, as it opened up doors for so many hits for other artists. Barry re-recorded Lonely Days with Little Big Town in 2021.
I absolutely love at the end of the song when they all step away together. Perfection and grace.
Agreed, " I Started a Joke " vocals by Robin.
Hope you will do Closer than Close or Man in the Middle featuring Maurice Gibb. Love hearing Robin. They were all so great together.
Robin is always the best
Finally!!! Old BeeGees music is FANTASTIC!!
One of their best songs
The Bee Gees is maybe the only band that sing in a lots of style. they don't have genre of music.
This is pre-disco and they have also after disco.
You have a long journey ahead with the bee gees. Their catalog is second to none.
The day I submitted my Masters dissertation, Robin passed away, a very bitter sweet day.
My late mother said I could sing *all* their songs, before I could speak, as a child. Lovely reaction.
Your boys ROB not only have a massive amount of music that they released, but the amount of songs they wrote for other artists is also huge❤
Wondering when you'd get to this. One of my favorites. Thank you
Guys, ‘To Love Somebody’ is one of the most beautiful songs of any genre. I had the pleasure of seeing the Bee Gees in concert twice. Once in their pop era. And once after Staying Alive catapulted them to the stratosphere. Amazing concerts both times. Please react to To Love Somebody. Studio version. Please?
Chills. Every time.✌️❤️
The composers and performers these gentlemen were is legendary. They are foundational to contemporary music. ❤
Maurice's name is pronounced "Morris."
I turned 62 a week ago Saturday. I can remember waking up to the smell of my parents' coffee purkulator and this song on the radio in the background. I could hear them talking about me and getting ready for kindergarten. I can still feel how safe I felt with them, and assured I was the center of their world. It isn't that I don't like the disco version of them, but this and their other older songs are better and really show case their talent. Love from Tulsa! Another great song that Robin wrote and sang lead on is I Got to Get a Message to You! Wow! I think I'm going to listen to it now!
i am so glad you all reviewed this. Robin had an awesome voice and was my favorite Bee Gee. Awesome song.
This song is so fire they named a state after it 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Their first number one in the UK.
These first songs of their's are my favorites.
I started a joke will have you in tears . the Bee Gees have been singing forever from the 6os
❤ I love this song, and the ending is wonderful. Thank you for listening
I'm so glad you guys like the Bee Gees so much and are getting to their many pre-disco songs. They did a lot of Slow Dancing music back then, J. 😉 Old folks like me got about a decade of listening to these harmonies Before Disco launched their second career.
Me too.
Robyn was so underrated!! Love them all but you must hear his live
“I can’t see nobody”!!
In the early days Robin did most of the singing and if you want to hear another Really good one by Robin I started The Joke
Robin's voice is great here, nice choice to go with.
Wonderful selection!
To Love Somebody is surely not too far behind now :)
Great song and great song writers.
Robin has the most unique voice you've ever heard. There is no other like it; never has been & I know there never Will be. Just wait till you hear: "I Started A Joke"!!! I live in OKC, btw 😉
The original came out 57 years ago…I was 4 and remember it well😎
Robin was lead singer in a lot of their 60s hits and I didn't like his voice back then but I can appreciate it now. Barry was always the bomb!!! 😘
I started a Joke, To Love Somebody, Words, and Gotta get a message to you are fantastic songs.
Robin sang on alot of their hits of the 60's.
I love this song. I love every song where Robin takes the lead. "I Started a Joke."
You Win Again has always been one of my favourites. 80s Bee Gees; up-beat but not disco and with Barry rocking his pony tail 😎
Robin sings lead on She keeps on coming, When he’s gone, Kiss of Life. Maurice sings lead on Walking on air, Closet than close and Hold her in your hand. Robin and Barry share lead on Wedding Day, Secret Love, I’ve gotta get a message to you and Run to me. ❤❤❤❤
“Words” is also a great song.
How about give a dedicated week to pre-disco Bee Gees? You will swoon.
Robin has the most soulful voice of the three.
One of the best songs ever released
robin sang lead for all their songs for 10 years until they went disco. i got their old vinyl goldies album. this was their first number one song ever in 1967
1960’s era BeeGees are the best. Robin sang lead on most of the really great songs from that era, loved how he always sang with his finger in his ear when he was singing alone but took it out for the harmonies
They have a beautiful natural effect on their harmonies. It's very similar to a "chorus pedal" effect- you can find for the guitar as an example... It's crystal-like. Great reaction!
I grew up with the Bee Gees and they never get old. Love from Australia
The Bee Gee's are wonderful,
One of my favorite songs by them.
There are a couple of documentaries that talk about their relationships evolved. My favorites in general are the 60's as well.
One of favourite Be Gees songs!
Bee Gee definitely had made a name for themselves and put out many hits in the 60s and early 70s before the disco era!
They were mobbed like the Beatles in the 60's.
I saw them perform in 1970 and they were incredible!
Started A Joke is also one Robins voice shines
The Bee Gees were Ballad kings long before they became Disco Kings. I grew up listening to the Bee Gees and watching them on local Australian television music shows. They were born in Britain, the Isle of Man, but grew up in Victoria, Australia.
I used to remember The Bee Gee's as a 'mass of chew sets', because of their smiles. They were more pervasive than you could think. When they fell out of favour they wrote hits for other artists.
I think this is their first big hit in the USA. Also, if you listen to the "live by request" concert, they do an outstanding job.
The studio version doesn't have that scream at the end, which makes it a truly mellow song.
What a voice. ❤
Ya know, Maurice songs do not get enough love. There's a great one from their Size Isn't Everything album called "Above and Beyond". One of my favorites!
I'm so happy you finally did a Bee Gees songs from the 60's. I've been trying to get you do this for 2 years😅. But then instead of playing a video from 1967 when the (boys) were young, you played it from when they were about in their 40's or later.
The twins were 18 in 1967 and Barry 21. Please, react to the ones from the 60's. Just type in Bee Gees Massachusetts 1967 and it should come up. Or To Love Somedody 1967 Beat Club. Or Gotta Get A Message to you , Solrac Etnevic. Or THE BEEGEES1978 when they are a little older. I promise you will love them when they were young!!!!
As you can see Im a BG fanatic but 2 of the ones you reacted to I didnt even remember. I think everybody over the age of, dare I say it, 60 will remember the 60's hits. I'm 71 and from Cincinnati so I even remember Doris Day and my mother lived across the Street from her mother around 1942. Doris mother kept her baby Terry while Doris was working and my mom and her mom would take their babies for walks together in Price Hill area of Cincy. Well, that's more than you ever wanted or needed to know. LOL
How do you mend a broken heart is one of my all time favorite songs. Definitely give it a listen
My fave Bee Gees song
A must listen is one of their first hits called Spicks and Specks. They are very young but still sound amazing. ❤❤
Before the disco/Saturday Night Fever era, Robin was the “Voice” of the Bee Gees. They had many hits in the UK prior to the disco ere.
All their music is great, listen to the words. They dod not choose disco instead they were asked to write music for the films. Great job they did . They were the mooving and shaking dance years.
What did the Bee Gees do before disco? This wonderful stuff. ☮🧡🎶
Oh my goodness you have a lot of great stuff to discover
Robin sang the lead in a lot of their early songs, before disco and Barry’s falsetto.
Jay & Amber.
The BeeGees have been around eversince the 60s so they do have an extensive song book covering a lot of types of music. ❤
"Lonely Days".
That's what I'm talkin' about! Hardly anybody is listing Lonely Days!
Before the disco era came in , Robin was the lead vocals , need to check out the 60's stuff , I started a joke will blow you away
I'm a MA resident I remember the night of the blackout it was haunting not a single light,it was late fall and a very cold night.
Great reaction, but love their harmonies!🎶
Check out some more pre-disco BeeGees. To Love Somebody, Words, New York Mining Disaster 1941 all great songs.
Robin wrote this well before the disco genre came out. Robin is also lead in Fanny Be Tender
This was there first No 1 in the UK it was before the days of Disco and they had just moved from Australia, it reached no 11 in the USA
This was their single in 1967 so it is way before their popular disco phase. Great reaction guys. When you guys get a chance look up this song that they did in 1967. A great video of them.
I love that you love the boys. They grew up not far from me here in Brisbane. Their local council erected a sculpture of them on the shore of the Redcliffe boardwalk.
Another great song that always gets overlooked from their early stuff First of May
Their song Mining Disaster is chilling to listen to.
The Bee Gees had a greatest hits album long before they went disco !
I love pre disco BeeGee’s
Keep on keeping on with early Bee Gees!!!
I thought you’d never do a Robin solo… yay! ❤
My Nana loved this song ❤
The show was in Vegas. It's about 2 hrs long❤
