Brené, the way you break down such simple concepts amazes me! I can’t help to get emotional about the topics you investigate. Thank you for being real!
I recently stood up for myself when an family friend who had always called me careless ,did it again and I said to her I’m forgetful not careless , and I explained what careless means and she’s never done it again 👏🏻
This Episode was good for me to watch, because I live in shame my whole childhood and into some of my adulthood. But getting to know myself, and healing what was dead in me. I love the part when Mrs. Brown talk about Love.
We all want to be loved, seen, and valued indeed! Brene Brown has changed my life and is changing lives all over the world. And her the Parenting Manifesto is one of the best things I have ever heard. We all need a Brene Brown in our lives = ) .
I want to be on a plane, and have the person next to me say they are a shame researcher! Imagine that conversation. So powerful, so good, so healing. I can't wait!
How can you NOT LOVE this conversation?! I need to replay with pen& paper in hand! Very dense and many ahas for me! I appreciate these souls for their lessons and wisdom. Especially the piece regarding our children!! 🙏
I bawled and laugh through the whole thing! I am a painter and furniture artist and somehow I have felt guilty for trying to make this my life. But I have helped so many women make their homes beautiful and it lights me up!! I needed this so much!!!
The best, most amazing lesson from Brene over the years begins at 16:56 where she explains how to be vulnerable, and with whom. It's the people around us that feed our mental health. Choose wisely!!
Both of you are amazing:) Have been following Brene for years and have read all of her books. Berne your hair looks beautiful and brings out your beauty. Oprah I grew up with you in my teens now I'm in mid age😂 your interviews only get better and better, love how the color purple/Lila looks on you got me started wearing it as well 🌟 thank you to both stars 🌟
I just ordered the book The Gifts of imperfection i live in a small town of Mississippi, I’m trying to help myself thru listening and reading, there is no therapist locally , so thank you
The way that shame erodes our sense of worth, value, and connections, is why this discussion is so valuable. Before I read this research, I didn't realize why so many of my "other blaming", and various toxic behaviours associated with low self-worth, and shame, were causing so many ruined relationships in my life.
For me, Brene Brown has such a huge impact on my life and why I really listen to her talk about shame and vulnerability is because she makes herself vulnerable by sharing her personal stories and how she navigates through shame and vulnerability. She shares her own experience about arguments or disagreements she has with her husband, children and others. I say to myself when I hear her talk, Wow! If she is struggling through this stuff and gets through to the other side, then I can get to the otherside of the mountain too.
I See this EVERYDAY in the addiction/recovery community! Addiction is a disease that thrives on shame! I’d Love to sit down with both of these women & speak about this topic! Thank you Both!!!!!
There is so much greatness here. I am a believer in what you both do and have used some of the techniques, especially "The story I'm telling myself is...." However, I would like to say that there are many great schools and great teachers who are very diligent in modeling and teaching students how to talk to themselves and others that builds the person. Some of the worst talk happens by students saying things about themselves - not teachers shaming students. My heart broke at these comments because many of us work so hard to build students up and teach them a better way and those are not recognized. Thank you for all your hard work.
This episode is wholeheartedly beautiful, bountiful -- full of so much wisdom. Everyone will find a piece of themselves in these stories, if open and honest.
Oprah this is the first time I feel a connection to you. Thank you Oprah for allowing that what Brene said into your mind and heart and thank you Brene for your deep insights and love message for the world.
So true about being careful who you share your shame with. Got my heart cut up though I don't talk much at all, they fully judged me rather and it felt more like a punch in the gut.
29:00 “what everyone wants is to be seen and heard... to know - do I matter, and does what I say mean anything to you?” -Oprah quoting Brené (But also the biggest lesson my mom tried to teach me)
Oprah thank you for sharing this. I was raped by 3 men at the age of 5 and I couldn't tell my abusive mother because it would have created another problem and I didn't want to get beat. This was so enlightening for me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ! By the power of 3 it is done it is done. And so it is..
I love when the two of you get together. Thank you both for your vulnerability and transparency. I am better for you both giving me the language to find my way to inner healing. God bless you both. With great love and appreciation. ❤️
I absolutely LOVED this. Thank You Bren'e for helping me change my Life. Thank you Oprah. I want to Share my life story in ways to help others, But the right way. I never liked being told what to do. I loved being show, learned by watching and listening. I Love what Dr. Wayne Dyer said, "A Bad Man is a good Man's Job" "A Good Man is a Bad Mans Teacher".
For me, so far, one of the greatest take-aways from Brene' Brown's research has been that "I belong to Myself". That I found in "Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone", and that concept...along with the BRAVING acronym....I feel, will set me onto a path free from toxic shame and to help me find connection and the elusive" whole-hearted living" I have been seeking since I began this journey into myself to explore the swampland of shame I had been living in. I am eternally grateful for this research and efforts to bring light into that swampland.
Yes you have given me the language to communicate the feelings I just could not adequately express. I will make peace using the anger as a tool to create something most beautiful 💜 thank you!
Thank you, ladies, for being my heroes and working so hard to change the world. You are amazing role models and I've shared this program with my three daughters. It's never too late to learn these lessons.
Thank you both for such a blessing🙏🏾🎵Inspirational sermons like these heal the world from within🌍 Creation is the saving grace of my life👑 grateful for the encouraging reminders🙏🏾❤️
Thank you for bringing me understanding on how my old story still reflect in my life. Bring the shadow in light. Art is in me and i understand finaly how it has affect my life when it was not an active part of my life. I am blessed because i have friends with who are real listener & to whom i know they deserve to have my full attention too. I am gratefull to you both for the lessons, soul talking and bring clarity in my life. ❤️🙏
I realize from this show agian, that I am licky to have one person like that in my life that I can totally confide in and share with... I'm so lucky indeed. Thank you for reminding me and talking about shame. I grew up in a home where shame was one of the guiding lights of my maother's motherhood... so much of what was said in this episode resonated with me... wow.... yes, and those triggers that bring those feeling up and not always out...
17:27 The "friends" Brene describes in her book: These are EVERY friend I had and especially every friend I thought I could trust to share that I deal with depression and anxiety.😞
You and me both. I moved from California to Minnesota and at my age it's kind of hard to meet new friends. I have a view work friends. But their ages are where they're raising their kids and everything and I'm much older than that. and one good friend I guess.
This show has been very enlightening. I do have to just agree with the god part. Part is this show is teaching to be good parents and being there for your children. and I understood that to be even if they're not asking for your help that you should be there for your kids. This is the question I have why isn't God there for us without asking. If I get replies I'm sure people are going to say he's always there for you but then why are they saying to ask for him to help.
I smiled when Oprah wished for rainy days ,.... cause that’s me too!! I need those days to give myself permission to do the tasks I have to catch up on and stop being distracted by blue skies. Sometimes, I am so tired.... but the to do list is still long , so we don’t rest our thoughts , bodies to reenergize. I agree with Brené about making time for creativity! Omg ....that’s in my Goals for 2021. I discovered my inner joy again during covid last year.... I started back sewing, making personal cards and created my gratitude board for 2020. I found my coloured pencils, markers, etc ...went hunting down my supplies . It was fun!!!!!! And so liberating and joyful. I am setting up 2021 to do more of those activities. Part of my day is not going to be devoted to work, to kitchen duties, to daily chores, to looking after people .....it will be parceled out for being creative in whatever way I feel like doing. I asked for circuit maker for Christmas....Santa delivered ! So some gifts in 2021 will be personally made , just like they were in 2020. One of a kind . So glad I am watching this show . For A type personalities like me, this show is what we need to watch and learn how to enjoy life again. Thanks for a great show , as always !! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Even the one or two deep friends that dont judge, still hard to find. Sometimes strangers are far more generous in life. We all need Brene/Oprah clones😊💕🙏🇦🇺

I want to be on a plane, and have the person next to me say they are a shame researcher! Imagine that conversation. So powerful, so good, so healing. I can't wait!
So do think you are just vulnerable with”certain” people?
Do we have to produce!?
My friend who was there no matter what died almost a year ago....i miss her so much because being seen and loved in the midst of your shame is GOLD
Same, I feel you:(
My BFF/Soul sister (since age 5) passed 10/2016... Those friends are priceless.
I feel some parts in me is healing while watching this video, I’m truly grateful for seeing this

Wealth of information shared with brilliance and sensitivity. People have to earn their right to share your story.
Brene Browns helps us to go deep but she softens the fall with Love and real things we can do to change 💗

It is truly such a blessing to have access to such truth, such wisdom, shared with ease to help understanding and digestion. Thank you both. Thank you
Silence and judgement, I suffer so much for nothing, this is so profound , you create your own reality , totally empowering talk
