Hey JB, as you know I have one of these. I've used dozens and dozens of different snow blowers through the years, from all different manufacturers, including Ariens machines from every decade. The Kraken is by far the most impressive machine I've ever run. The 420cc engine with EFI and electronic governer has unending power. It maintains a high engine RPM no matter how heavy the snow gets. The electronic actuator to adjust the tracks gives the ability to fine-tune the traction while on the move without needing to stop the machine. The LED lights are incredible, but you actually missed one. There is additional downlighting under the dash that highlights the tracks and your footing. A very useful feature at night. The massive 1.85 gallon fuel tank will keep the machine running at full throttle for 3.5hrs. Even at nearly 400 lbs., because of the great balance, the machine is actually quite nimble. I can easily turn it on a dime with one arm. I even have a video on my channel of my daughter turning it in the garage from a couple years ago when she was 7 years old. This will be my 4th winter with this machine and it's performed flawlessly.
I had an opportunity to purchase this exact model for a great deal from a family member who was moving to Texas but it was a bit overkill for Chicago weather. Definitely a beast of a machine.
I always come back to the fact that Ariens isn't cheap, but there is nothing that comes close to comparing to them in quality and longevity. When you buy an Ariens snowblower, you are buying your grandson's snowblower even if they haven't been born.
That is definitely a BEAST of a snowblower! If I ever need that much snowblower, I’ll just buy another truck and plow, and sit in nice warm comfort while pushing snow! ❄️ 😉
These RapidTrak machines are just as maneuverable as a tire machine. This machine weighs 390 lb and I have a video on my channel of my daughter, when she was 7 years old at the time, turning it in the garage.
@@smallblock412 I think tracks have come a long way. They’re definitely more agile than what they were. Some of those older machines with them were darn near impossible to move
I think my 1 year old 24 inch compact couldn't handle the heavy Hamburg snow. A day after thawing the auger wouldn't engage until I banged it on the driveway.
I live in southern Delaware about 20 minutes from OCMD. By us we don’t get too much snow but every few years or so we get a big storm with about a foot of snow. Sad part is it usually melts within a few days.
Jesus that is an absolute unit. Ariens doesn't eff around when it comes to quality and durability. I don't think I'd go for a tracked blower though. I'd think it would be super expensive to service. But if you have a crazy driveway it may make sense.
I just bought one and it was delivered in the factory crate and boy was I disappointed when I went through it with a fine tooth comb and first the oil was barely half full and when I started it up and was checking the functions the deflector chute wouldn’t go all the way up and it caused the motor to just keep running and I had to turn the key and shut the snowblower down , when I turned the key on the chute motor was still running! I did find that the deflector hinge was sticking just past half way up which eventually I got it to move freely and finally got the motor to stop running after I let go of the toggle lever and now it seems all is working correctly! I AM HOWEVER VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ARIENS QUALITY CONTROL! Still a beast though!

Just got the arains delux 24" with the 254 cc engine. Its a few years old but in good shape. 400$ you talked me into arains vers a cheaper craftsman on market place lol
The engine is EFI. The battery is used to cycle the throttle body and power the fuel pump until the engine starts. Ariens has other EFI powered machines that use a small battery, about the size used for an RC car, that is tucked under the dash. The reason for the larger lawn & garden battery on this machine is it is equipped with a 12v electric starter. No extension cord needed. Once running, the 250 w stator powers everything and keeps the battery charged. With the combination of these components the machine starts up just like a car. Just turn the key.
