I just used my 24 inch Ego for the first time when we got 20 inches over a 5 day period with 14 of that over 18 hours. The Ego had no problem and actually handled the snow better than my 30 inch 9 HP Ariens. The Ego is a pleasure to use compared to the Ariens as it's quieter, tracks better, provides more control options and throws heavy wet snow further than the Ariens could ever hope to. Very pleased with my purchase and if it proves reliable over the years it will be one of the better outdoor tool purchases I've made.
I also bought the 12 inch power shovel and am amazed with how well that tool performs.

Thank you for making this video to have all of them showing side by side for size comparison. I have own/owned all the listed models in different variations and generations for the past 5 years and enjoyed using all of them. Once I applied 5 coats of the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray during off season, these machines works amazingly great!
Though the 21" single stage and 24" 2 stage units would still get clogged in very heavy wet snow conditions, the 28" with the electronic chute so far has not clogged once even after clearing 2 miles/3.3KM of 8" of very heavy wet snow including submerging the unit into 10" of extreme dense wet snow siting in brown road salt & sand puddles (The Brown Slushy winter special) left by the snowplow multiple times. It just shoots them out like brown slushy tubs reminded me of wet concrete cements. One unexpected pleasant surprise of the 28" unit's "Hidden Supper Power" is with the ceramic coating on the inner electronic operated chute, when I pushing the joystick quickly from left and right (with one finger) to quickly rotates 200 degreed in high speed it also loosen all the wet snow/snow build up and clearing itself without any tool which was not possible when using the manual chute control unless I wanted to tired myself out by yanking the chute control left and right in high speed with high torque all the time.
The snow shovel is a great idea but heavy as a power head attachment. It would be great if EGO would include an optional wheel attachment to relief the carrying weight when walking back to the starting point in multiple paths without the need of prematurely wearing out the plastic scraper bar. Would like to see this as a lightweight dedicated tool in carbon fiber format like many other companies has already done then I would be OK without the wheels.

Great comment - Yeah the 28" seems to have enough power to handle the dry and wet snow without ever clogging. I also found that by leaving the snow blower outside or at the temp it reduces clogging.
@@Kitearmy Leaving it outside may decrease the clogging; however, I am not sure that is good for the gearbox.

Do you think it's worth upgrading my EGO Gen 1 rubber paddle unit? I've had it now I think 7 years? Batteries still going strong, as well as the machine. Love the battery machines.
If it works for you I would not upgrade - unless you would consider a 2-stage. They are amazing

KiteArmy, I'm absolutely sure you're the hero we all need, but after this little saga, I'm convinced I'm the sidekick who slipped on his own cape. Here's the deal: For ages, I've been perched on the fence about snagging an EGO snowblower, like a cat too scared to jump off the windowsill. I've been eyeing that storm on the horizon, knowing full well I needed some EGO firepower to blast through the blizzard.
So I finally muster the courage, right? I dive headfirst into the snowblower sea - and holy Frosty the Snowman, talk about choices! It's like walking into a buffet where every dish is a different kind of snow-clearing beast: single-stage, two-stage, and grips that claimed to have been forged in the heart of a volcano. These machines are prancing around with more swagger than a strutting peacock, and one of them is touting claims of "auger-assisted propulsion" that's dodgier than a "low-fat" label on a tub of lard. And don't get me started on the blades - we've got rubber, steel, and everything in between like a medieval blacksmith's dream.
There I am, lost in a blizzard of options, and I’m thinking, "No sweat. KiteArmy's always got the lowdown I need. He's the Gandalf to my bewildered Frodo, trudging through this snowy saga." But when I hit up your videos, it's like thumbing through relics - zilch on the gleaming new models before me.
In a daring leap of faith, I go all-in on the SNT2125AP, crossing my fingers. And as if on cue, right after I've sealed the deal, you unveil the treasure trove - the precise face-off of snow-conquering tech I was seeking. It's like discovering the final clue of a treasure hunt after you've already called it quits.

How well does the rubber auger-propelled one pull? Will it pull uphill? I see there is also a steel auger variant. What's the difference?
It does okay - but I still think if you have large snow totals that you should consider the 2-stage,
The auger-propelled version allows the auger to contact the ground to help pull it along and clean to the pavement, where the steel auger version doesn't and relies on a scraper to clear the pavement.
The 2-stage models will always be the champs when clearing the plow pile at the end of the driveway, but if you live in suburbia and have a relatively small driveway (or have limited space to store a snow blower), I recommend the steel auger single stage unit as long as you don't have regular large snowfalls. I have the original 21" rubber paddle model which is not self-propelled, and I absolutely love it for everything up to about 6-8" of snow. It's so light and easy to maneuver, and for small/medium snowfalls I think it works great.
The only place the original single-stage could improve is the plow pile at the end of the driveway. This is where I think the steel auger model might be the sweet spot, as it should bite through the more dense snow/ice better than the rubber paddle model.
Having said all that, if you do see larger snowfalls and you can't get to cleaning right away and need to tackle a large plow pile at the end of the driveway, the dual stage models will absolutely be better. They will be slow and cumbersome everywhere else, but they make up for it when that pile is deep and heavy, or it's had a chance to freeze a bit before you get to it. The dual stage should also be a consideration if you are less able to push the lighter models against some heavy resistance. I recommended the two-stage 24" model to my neighbor who's a smaller guy in his 70's.

I have never tested a Ryobi, but I can say the build quality just does not compare and the EGO has 32volts more power
Ego is far better than Ryobi. Toro is even better. Especially their snowblower line. They use tried and true parts from the gas lines and part can be had from their extensive dealer network. Can’t say that about Ego et. al.
Got the mini and the older 21” with no heated handle been awesome in NYC area!
I think the heated hand grips is cool - not sure if it is a make or break option!

Love my Ego single stage. But They really need to adjust their advertised throwing distances. The single stages dont throw 45' or 40' (depends on your model). Under perfect conditions ive seen about 25'. Im not complaining as its honestly fine. But lieing to look better on paper is sad.
My neighbor has the 28'' New ego. Its a beast. Again, 60' throw distance? Its in the 35-40' range. More than you need? Yes. As advertised? No.
I live in alaska and we've been hammered with snow this year ( record snowfall ) So ive seen all the depths and conditions possible basically in the last 2-3 months.
I absolutely Love the single stage, i can use it on my deck and for the 2-7 inch snowfalls its a gem!! I highly recommend it. 3 of us now have EGO's on my street. 2 Single stages and the 28''.
You will find That battery life with the single stages are great IF the snow is between 3-5 inches. Around the 6-7 inch depth it REALLY cuts into the duration of battery. For example if i do my driveway (100' X 25) I can do it 2-3 times if the snow is around 3-4 inches between charges ( I only have the 5 AH batteries ) If its 7-8 inches i run out of battery at the very end or just before its finished. Sweet spot for these is 3-5 inches. They will do more but battery use will be significantly more. This is under dry snow conditions and not wet or heavy snow, so keep this in mind as that changes everything
Also dont bother with the turbo mode cranked up. Leave it on medium or even Low. the gain in power is hardly worth it and barely noticeable. You will end up using a ton of battery for a very small performance gain.
I highly recommend the single stage from my experience. It has limitations but once you figure those out, you will love it!
I have found the single stages are a little on the low side in distance but the new 28" did come close to 60ft
Hi Kite Army, I have the 21’ and 24’ ego snow blower you mentioned. I can tell you with experience using them for my small snow removal business for 16 hours straight is the real test for battery life. With cold temperatures around 0 degrees in chicago last week the 7.5 ah batteries and smaller didn’t even last more then one property. If you have the 10-12 ah batteries then your okay for about 3 properties. Some of my properties are really big and the 10ah would only last that one. After we were done I used 20 batteries. If any one is using it for a business expect that many at least in the cold for Snow blowers. Spring and summer with lawn mower is no problem. I’ll be making a video about it soon

probably depends on the snow type. I would say this was about 25-30ft but the 28" was dep throwing 60ft

Until, unfortunately, when one of those expensive batteries die. Then you will be paying out again. I wonder how the multi tool shovel is on your back?..I have the brush, which I love, but is so front bottom heavy that your back hurts.
It is a little front heavy - but it does a darn good job of throwing snow
The snow shovel is heavy. It's like the tiller attachment. With that amount of weight the ergonomics are terrible. I got a shoulder injury from using the tiller attachment. I bought the Darwin's Grip to go with these heavy attachments and it is much better. The weight is better distributed and more importantly it keeps your back and shoulders straight and square.

-- Each to their own. And thumbs up. I just can't get with the price and 70 percent more overall pollution electric creates over gas. I need the run time and the reliability of gas. And your numbers are wrong. I've used the Ego 24 with 2 10 amp batteries. I can't clear 3, 2 car driveways with that, with the power dialed down. And the batteries wear strikingly fast, even after a year.
We're starting to see small engines (Husq is doing it now) running EFI. That'll put this electric vs gas debate to bed, until the battery technology catches up. Electric motors, awesome. The idea of electric, awesome. Have plenty of cordless tools, RC cars and drones. But you start getting into an area where you need say a 200cc gas motor and up, the batteries for electric just aren't there yet.
And I don't like how most of these batteries are derived from forced labor.
I run a 212cc Husq ST224, a mid level thrower. Overkill but for two things. I live on a corner and you know what the plow truck does to corner houses. And second, both my neighbors are elderly, so I service at least their sidewalks and plow-in. No way in hell I'm doing that with any of these EGOs. And they're a great company. Have some of their battery banks/inverters/converters.
Batteries just dont last long in mower so i dont trust these to last

So I got an ego one stage snow blower ( the one above the base model ) and the big big difference is not the amount of snow, it's the composition of snow.
Powdery snow is manageable in any quantity, but wet snow is the worst, even in small quantity.

@bellybutthole69 the one above the base model that you have...is that the one with the steel auger that is not auger propelled? I have the single stage steel auger model (not auger propelled). I've only been able to use it 2 times. I have been disappointed with how much I have to push it. Curious what your experience has been. I did not pick the auger propelled one because reviewers all said they couldn't detect it propelling them forward. I wanted steel auger to handle ice chunks. Questioning my decision.

I used to keep mine in a semi-heated garage and had problems - now I leave it outside, way less clogging.
Single stage rubber paddle or metal auger both straggles through wet snow with clogging issues plus the effort to push these units forward. That was the main reason to upgrade to the 24" which did much batter and clog much less and the 28" just refuses to clog so far even in 10" of extra wet snow.
The snow shovel is absolutely useless in heavy snow or wet snow

Nothing but plastic crap. My neighbor has the 24 inch. It won’t make it through the end of the driveway where the plow piles it up. I had to go over and clear it with my 20 year old Ariens 24. Told him to bring it back and get a Honda. Batteries just don’t have the run time. BTW. For all you tree huggers out there go look up images of a lithium mine on google. It may change your mind about all the hype about batteries.

Way overpriced compared to gas, not as long run time, lots of plastic, no power, your snow blower won't work. No local dealer support to fix or warranty these. A battery dies or explodes you're out hundreds of dollars and potentially a new house if it catches on fire. Diminished run times in very cold weatner. Dont believe in tne hype. Not to mention mining and producing these batteries is actually worse for the environment, too.

There is some truth to the negative comments about battery but mostly outdated. My guess is that these people have several battery operated hand tools in their workshop which outperform their old electric tools and how many of these batteries exploded? Their cell phone which is carried on them uses a lithium battery. Lots of inaccuracies from a gas die hard. All things to consider as long as the information is up to date and accurate. A lot has changed. To each his own.

You’re definitely paying more for convenience with these machines. Having said that, and owning both OG versions of the 21” single stage and 24” dual stage, these are VERY convenient to own. No gas, no oil changes and no maintenance are definitely worth something to most people. Leave the batteries indoors until you’re ready to use them and there’s zero cold weather capacity or performance loss.
For residential driveways in town, the 21” steel auger would probably be the best choice overall - the single stage Egos are very light and very easy to maneuver, and the steel auger should chew through the icy plow pile better than the rubber augers can. That’s my single complaint about the original 21” model I own. Other than that it’s been great.
