5:52 if your a Reason user then there are hundreds of Hiphop drum loops already chopped like this in the Rex player device you can slow sections, reverse them pich them. You can put the loop to midi same as in this video and move stuff about.

@3:03 I've used this technique in tracks in the past and i was always self-conscious about doing it... thinking it would just cause phase/mix issues or that it was in some ways "redundant". It makes me happy to know that my intuitions on this technique are actually valid! Some samples already have a bass that works but just need the low end separated and enhanced. Thanks for the great tutorials as always!

I Producing Beats over 8 Years 4 me, nothing ist also PUPLIC.
Now my Opinion about the Oldschool vibes, it's some kind of technic that u only Archiv when u begin to produce rly like the old Mc.
Its not only a melody also not a drum, u can define so Hard the Beats .
I read/listed many of Oldschool underground Beats from the year 1990 - 1996. Also the mix, sample technic.
    I produce in these Steps.
    1. Find a Sample that catch.
It could be 1 sec in the track that u get some visions, about how the Melodie gonna be.
    2. The bass line is not only a 808.
Got more characteristics, u can cut some low end of a Sample, or to achrive the mob deep flavor u can take some old synthesizer record exp. The old Yamaha got some nice bass sounds also.
    3. The drums are like the Heart of a beat u can define it upfront ( Boombap) or lay back, also don't qutiziez it. Just Listen how 20 ms up or back, make somr crazy vibe.
    Mixing is on ur own.
When u make Music with ur Heart, u Wil feel the vibes that u creating.
It's not like 10 min. a arp., 140 bpm and 808 on key.
    JUST DO SOME EXPERIMENTS
