Put in a Lexus V6, not hard, either a 3.0 litre 1MZ-FE or 3.5 2GR-FE. Plenty have been done, i have the Mk2 with a 1MZ & it is a good swop.
@@kevinparker461 Yes That's another option. I like 4 cylinder turbos more. easier for me to work on and drive on track without losing the power the V6 provides. 400 to the wheels the K series can provide in this car is plenty. too much even.
I LOVE the Boxter kit. It finally makes that car something special to look at.

This kit is for the mk3 mr2/mrs (spyder), not the mk2 as shown in the video.

I think it's a really cool build. What I don't like about it is that it's trying too hard to make the MR2 something it isn't. The MR2 is much closer to the Lotus Elise and personally I like the sort of underdog sports car category it falls under. I feel like this would be a good investment for someone who wants the handling of the MR2 but needed a more aggressive style, but this body kit forgets its own heritage. Because of this I would rather modify the MR2 with some more basic trim pieces. Some modifications under the hood, a decent wrap, and these basic trim pieces would make a much nicer specimen in my opinion, especially at car shows with enthusiast audiences.
or you can make the mr2 it's OWN using toyota-based widebody kits like the GT300 or VM180. both pure toyota kits that are fairly widely replicated. Or go with an original design like APR widebody. All 3 make the modest spider look exotic without pretending to be a porsche or lamborghini.

The kit isn't based on the lotus at all. It's based on a porsche. So I'm not sure you even watched the video all.

NO, you just don’t understand the comment. They said the original MR2 without the kit is closer to an Elise in spirit not that this kit resembles an Elise. I think they watched the video you just didn’t really read their comment…

The mr2 is a very beautiful gorgeous car i had one and at every traffic light i would see people get out of there car take pictures or ask me questions , if you can change the body kit then that's a good thing the mr2 is still a very attractive car .

All the major automakers have lost their inspiration saddled with unnecessary gov't regulations while pushing for more digital distractions. _Look at what Lotus has been doing for years with Ford, Toyota, and Renault parts!_

How about an Avalanche GT MR2 with a 600HP turbo Honda K24 swap! Now we're talking something really special!
I plan on K (20) swapping my 3rd gen MR2 at Monkey Wrench Racing near Detroit next year after i get my taxes done. Part of their $13,495 swap includes ECU tuning to get 220 horses out of the engine... the MR2 is definitely not underpowered with its 138 hp out of its 1zz engine, i cant wait to enjoy the 4 hour drive home back to cincinnati after the swap is done.
But im only going with the K20 because i eventually plan to get a k24 block to build and then have the head from the k20 slapped on the k24 block... the k20 head is superior to the k24.

Dude, you're nuts. the MR2 one HUNDRED percent stands out at a stop light. The MR SPYDER is dog shit ugly, so yes, a body kit is needed for that one. But the 93-95 MR2 is sick and you can't get a half decent one for under $40k

Too expensive...id rather just drop $3k on a widebody kit for my 3rd gen MR2 and get wider wheels and wheel spacers... Spyder Lee's MR2 is about what i woukd shoot for with my own little touches...

Dude I don't appreciate that you show the Mark 2 which is the best looking MR2, when this body kit requires the Mark 3 which is fugliest of the MR2 .

Bought a beat up one for 4k. Not dirt cheap lol. And given the market now and the work I put into it I can sell it for 6-7k. Used car market is crazy.

They aren’t designed to be a Porsche, they were designed to be how they were, simple body/aero kits do these cars far more justice than trying to make them look like something that they’re jot
You can get this kit from Thailand way cheaper. I would suggest, just don't butcher your Mr2 and MRS. Unless you want to be a clown.

the first few sentences of this video seem to be the furthest thing from the truth with the way nostalgia has hit these cars. an SW20 will turn heads far more than any modern porsche that just looks like some rich/indebted guy's daily driver.

Mr2 don't look great will ya stop. The mk2 Mr2 to this day are still a cracking looking car. I don't like supercars as I don't like the look of then whatsoever I prefer any day to go to a vintage show over any supercars show. Don't get trying to make an mr2 look like something it's not pointless exercise imo.
Buy a pretty good looking MR2 Spyder for 5k and butcher it to look like a Chinese Carrera GT knockoff or buy a Porsche boxter for 5k. 🤔
Would love to own a Porsche but I know I’ll never be able to afford one. But a proper tuned MR-S hard top coupe can be as fun to drive as a Boxster
