Work hard for your goals no matter what people tell you. I took this path six years ago.Still grinding, the amount of things it has taught me is immense.
Highly underrated creator. You're very good at giving realistic advice. I appreciate all of your videos man! :-)
Cheers!
I watch all your videos. Keep it up. I have just gotten into cyber about 6 months ago. I am still learning so much and I am part of the older crowd and age doesn't matter. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate it
Very informative video for someone looking to break into cybersecurity. Thank you
Thanks!
This dude is a gold mine🥇⚱️🙌🏾💪🏾
This was a great video 😊🙏🥂👍
It's not easy maintaining same expectations in middle management. I manage an incident response team in IT, did not go through after 2nd interview in cybersecurity. It's been countless interviews with the same result. GRC, DRP, DLP roles. Be prepared to halt all holidays, weekends to keep studying for certifications!!
Unfortunate to hear that. Sometimes we just gotta do the grind for the certs!
You just preach my life in this session
🤝
My only deterrent to move into security is I earn a fair bit in the current IT role that it’s likely I would have to accept a lower pay package…😕
To be honest, what ever you choose about IT carrier you will have to learn almost every day due to new technologies + AI tho... But if you are interested in the carrier that will be no problem for you!
which camera you use for recording brother?
I started cybersecurity because of you. I completed the Google cybersecurity course and loved it, so I went on to study for the CompTIA Security+ and got certified in June. I'm currently studying for the A+ and applying for helpdesk and SOC analyst roles, but I haven't received any calls for a month now.
I have some projects on my GitHub, like EDR attack and defense simulations and Linux file permissions and more. Is there anything I should be doing differently or specific sites or alternative names I should use when searching and applying for helpdesk roles?
get outside and network , online is not enough you have to meet people in real life. There will be a huge opportunity coming up in November in Houston, Texas called afro tech look into it.
Hey good to hear that you've got the certificates! Like the above reply, try networking with potential recruiters at events or even LinkedIn. Sometimes companies might not be recruiting in particular months so dont give up and keep honing your skills!
I appreciate the feedback guys thank you! I’ll definitely try networking outside of people I have connections to already as well as speak to recruiters on LinkedIn !
Amazing content
Thanks!
I'm an Attorney-at-Law from Sri Lanka with an LLB from the UK and currently in my second year of a BSc in Cybersecurity. Could you recommend a career pathway for me to pursue in two years after I finish my degree? Additionally, could you suggest some relevant cybersecurity certifications?
I've just started my career in IT and I want to get into cybersecurity. I have about 3 years experience in IT. I'm currently an IT Technician II what's the next route I should take to get into cybersecurity?
I'm 34 currently living in Sydney, Australia working in I.T Operations for over 10 years and have been interested to move into cyber security, i'm just not sure how well i'd fare against other applicants with degrees in cyber security.
Experience > degrees in my book, so I'd say you're a strong applicant!
Degree just teach theory. Experience trumps all
Like your honest sujjetion thanks friend.
I really hope i'm 35,....and soon I will finish studying the comptia sec+ ...at the moment I’m hanging out at an academy for to find a work........like i said i want to do pentesting red team in fact then i'll do pentesting + ....but I'd like to also an ethical hacker
I have experience in managing a social media moderation project. it can be described as analyzing the content to apply guidelines. Do you think this type of experience will look good on a resume if pursuing any type of cyber security role?
Hey, not really as they're not relevant to Cybersecurity
Hi Jono, are you based in Brisbane? 😀
Yes!
Did you get a degree or only got certificates to start your career?
I started with a degree
can i get the certificates if im underage ?
U have more time to study and hone your knowledge, so why rush it?
Take your time
Yes for sure, there's no age limit to learning :P
From CompTIA website "There aren’t any age requirements or educational prerequisites to take a CompTIA exam. However, we recommend that candidates for any certification be at least 13 years old."
