Hi, thank you so much for all your videos. My husband is trying to get into cybersercurity so, I get to watch all of your videos alongside him to support him. We are in Australia and finding that every job he is applying for, they are asking what his salary expectation is. Could you please do a video about how to address this? We are a bit desperate so, he is putting his salary expectations quite low in the hope of getting a foot in the door. To be honest, he would work for free, if he could just get something. We would really appreciate your wisdom and any tips you have here.
Hi Anneline, honestly I would usually do a job search and just put an estimate, or sometimes I just put ‘negotiable’. there is no hard rule on what to write and I wouldn’t stress too much about it! Since you are in Australia, have looked into the free cert IV in cyber? he can do it part time whilst he look for work! Also there are some cool conferences that he can volunteer at, the biggest one is the AISA cyber conference in melbourne, they’re always looking for volunteers
Hi! You’re so amazing and I regularly watch your videos. I have an experience to share, one of the Company’s cybersecurity lead approached me for the interview and I Said yes I am available. He went on vacation and his colleagues decided to interview me. They assured me I am a good fit and that they just need another interview with the Client. At the End they just ghosted me and didn’t even get back to me which is quite humilated and I felt so discouraged being a newbie in this field. I have observed people in this field have such big egos and they think so highly of themselves. I am very very disappointed 😔
hey mate sorry to hear that, but if it makes you feel better this happened to me and many people I know. Not only that, it’s not unique to cyber - this is just people with bad manners. Which why its important to play the numbers games to maximise your chances

Salam Unix, I was studying Chiropractic for 4 years and was about to become a chiropractor before I became quadriplegic (paralysed). I’m now thinking of swapping to IT and I’ve got a couple questions: 1) Is cyber security disability accessible? I can use a mouse perfectly fine but I’m using my voice instead of typing 2) when it comes to IT, I’m literally at the most basic. How hard is the Google certificate? I’m teaching myself Python before I enrol into the certificate because I don’t want to spend more than a month doing the certificate, do you think this is a good idea? Thank you heaps for your videos you are the reason that gave me the boost to swap fields.
Hey mate sorry to hear the medical issue, it must be hard! 1) Accessibility is highly dependent on the organisation. You’ll find bigger organisations more accomodating. Unfortunately I dont think enough is being done at this front! but its possible 2) I believe the google cert is possible and if you find you struggling you can always do the google IT support cert!
@@UnixGuyHello Unix, just a follow up to my question, do you think it’s a good idea to learn how to code in Python, Linux and SQL before enrolling into the certificate? Or is the certificate so basic that it’s not necessary?
I am student from India and will join my College in a few days... I will be persuing a 4 year B tech degree in information technology course Please share a roadmap how can i start my career in the field of cyber security after 3rd or 4th year Plz🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Genuine question, With the recommended projects and hands on work. Do you think it would still be okay to add them on your resume even if you’re taking 1 day or 2 days out the week to learn the tools?
unlikely to be honest, specially as someone is completely new to the Field. Companies prefer to hire local candidates. The best thing you can do is to try to land a job in Thailand. Follow this video closely.: th-cam.com/video/rz0RL4Xue-A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kE2OcrXmDPiK4A7S

I was in a similar situation, applying for networking roles alongside cybersecurity analyst positions. Recently, I landed a network specialist job focusing on engineering and security, which has some relation to cybersecurity.
My point is to broaden your search. Explore other fields that has relation to cybersecurity. Every experience counts, and getting a job in those fields can be a stepping stone to a pure cybersecurity position, even at a management level depending on your experience.
congrats on landing a role!
Hey UnixGuy love your videos ❤
My path for cybersecurity
1--> bachelors in cs(cybersecurity)
2--> Get best cybersecurity certification in between my bachelors(Google cybersecurity certificate,OSCP,CCNA,Etc)
3--> masters in cybersecurity

Hi Anneline,
honestly I would usually do a job search and just put an estimate, or sometimes I just put ‘negotiable’. there is no hard rule on what to write and I wouldn’t stress too much about it!
Since you are in Australia, have looked into the free cert IV in cyber? he can do it part time whilst he look for work!
Also there are some cool conferences that he can volunteer at, the biggest one is the AISA cyber conference in melbourne, they’re always looking for volunteers
I like your attitude
🙏🏻
@@UnixGuy yes boss! You’re awesome and you’re so humble even though you’re super smart. I will not give up and will land a role soon. I’ll utilize my time to keep studying and learning while I am getting some rejections and also to apply for the Jobs every Single Day until I get one ♥️

not yet but stay tuned 😉
@UnixGuy looking forward to it, keep doing you! A HERO INDEED 👏
I do have a question:
I have been completing the projects you suggested on the roadmap you made over the past several weeks. I notice that I am beginning to run out of room for them as I add them So it has got me thinking, and I would like to see your opinion since I have never really done a resume before.
Would it make sense to create a "Master Resume" that has everything I have done, and as I apply to jobs, I tailor the Projects and Certs on a second resume that I customize for that job application to keep it one page?
Thank you for your help! It's been fun working on this stuff, and you have been a great help. :)
no need, you can just group some projects by combining them or just add a one line description for each project

Salam Unix, I was studying Chiropractic for 4 years and was about to become a chiropractor before I became quadriplegic (paralysed). I’m now thinking of swapping to IT and I’ve got a couple questions:
1) Is cyber security disability accessible? I can use a mouse perfectly fine but I’m using my voice instead of typing
2) when it comes to IT, I’m literally at the most basic. How hard is the Google certificate? I’m teaching myself Python before I enrol into the certificate because I don’t want to spend more than a month doing the certificate, do you think this is a good idea?
Thank you heaps for your videos you are the reason that gave me the boost to swap fields.
Hey mate
sorry to hear the medical issue, it must be hard!
1) Accessibility is highly dependent on the organisation. You’ll find bigger organisations more accomodating. Unfortunately I dont think enough is being done at this front! but its possible
2) I believe the google cert is possible and if you find you struggling you can always do the google IT support cert!
@@UnixGuyHello Unix, just a follow up to my question, do you think it’s a good idea to learn how to code in Python, Linux and SQL before enrolling into the certificate? Or is the certificate so basic that it’s not necessary?
Can you do a road map for ciso(chief information security officer)
