    I agree with your review but saying 70% of smash characters feels the same is nonsense. I have played all characters at a competitive level and even the swordies feels differents one to another. For example you dont play Roy the same way you play Lucina or Corrin.

      @@thatguybis1997 not to be rude but king k rool and mario don't play the same, maybe you main everyone I supposed, but every character has a gimmick that others don't have. Mario has his cape reflector, crazy but tight combos, and can utilize fireball for combos. King k rool has his belly armor that deteriorates when big attacks hit it and can make moves of his more powerful. They are also different weights and there ground and air speed are very different. I'm sorry I respect your opinion but it's kinda dumb to me that you think every character plays the same, because they are not. If you dominate with bowser your not gonna destroy with jigglypuff. Now multiverse is new so maybe that's why it's hard to switch because it's only been out for such little time, Smash had been out for 2 decades. Also the multi platform part, there would be no reason to get a nintendo console if the games were everywhere.

    I think Perks work better for 2s. They encourage the Duo to plan out and strategies what perks will suit the team. Do they wanna go all out with attack perks? or keep it Balanced and have 1 of each type?
    In solos, I feel like perks don't work quite as well. While perks encourage you to think as a team and stacking them even boosts them, so I feel like they weren't ment for Solos. Itd be a very nice option to disable in either mode, but I'd only disable it for Solos because it's fun planning a perk layout with a friend before we head into Battle.

    Honestly I think Multiverseus is gonna be a fun game to play. Even if it's in the same genre as Smash Brothers. Now do I think it's gonna be a "Oh it's better then Smash" or "Oh it's worse then Smash?" No. Because there can be more then one great platform fighting game. But I will defend Smash Brothers by saying that sure..some characters do fight similarly. Like Marth and Lucina. If you know why Lucina is a echo fighter to Marth. Well lore wise. It makes perfect sense. But not all "Swordies." play the same. Plus it's fun to play as all 82..or 89 characters of Smash cause..well to me. Each one feels like a new experience. Same goes for Multiversus here.
    I mean sure I wish Smash's online can be better. But I still enjoy Ultimate for what it is. "A celebration of video-games." And I can see Multiversus as a "Celeberation of Warner Bros." and apparently Lebron James.

      The roster is tiny so of course it feels more diverse. Strip back the roster of smash to 20 odd characters with Steve, sephy, game n watch etc in like the real whacky ones then you'd say the same.
      But if you zoom out, the variety of movesets/characters/playstyles in smash is amazing. It's just not new and shiny anymore. This is. I just played it for hours and loved it. There is great variety in the moves and how the characters move and feel but it won't be long before new characters come in and start to feel samey. I'm hoping they don't, but f2p games make me sceptical. They hook you in then make the grind and quality worse as time goes on. They're psychological warfare and I hate it. I've already noticed the coin grind has slowed after I've leveled up characters. I'm hoping as they secure their fanbase they don't screw with the economy of it.
      However the online, perks, progression and skins is absolutely awesome. I just wish I could've paid for the game so we're not subjected to the free to play model which could ruin the game months or years down the line.

Sure Multiversus has more unique characters from one another overall, but so did the first smash game. Multiversus isn’t nearly as old or as refined as Smash is. I can pretty much guarantee that there will be a character added to Multiversus in the future that is extremely similar to another already existing one. Most of the things you mentioned that make Multiversus characters unique are moves that Smash characters already have. Ex: Batman’s grapple hook. Smash is just as unique as Multiversus in its roster, there’s just more options for people who like the base character, but prefer a slightly altered move set. Of course there are characters that feel very similar to one another in Smash, but would you say Steve and Luigi play the same? What about Pokémon Trainer and Dedede? Yes, echo fighters are really just filler, but at least people have the option of an echo fighter over no echo at all. Isn’t one or two options better than none? I really hope Multiversus expands and grows to the size of Smash just so WB can really show how creative they can be. Just remember, just because characters have swords doesn’t make them the same fighter. “Both Sub-Zero and Guile fight with their fists do that must mean they play exactly the same, even though they’re in in two separate series’!”

      >Extremely similar to another one.
      Unlikely. PFG is actually EXPERIMENTING more while Smash had the guts to give Sora the same basic down B counter as a special that's been overused since Marth in Melee. Iron Giant is the first colossal archetype for example, Ridley on the other hand was extremely basic. Didn't even get his signature tail pogo move from Metroid.

      I understand, but if Multiversus becomes popular enough post-launch, they might have to add clone characters in order to keep up with fan’s demands. Take Fortnite for example. Epic Games was not expecting the massive wave of players that came to the game early on. That meant that many fans expected scheduled, timely updates, which Epic Games did not have the resources to satisfy. As a result, developers were pushed, and given less time to create brand-new content for the game, which meant that they had to reuse many elements and character/weapon models in order to meet fan expectations. That’s an extreme example, but even on a smaller scale, free-to-play games need to have quicker, more numerous updates than full $60 games. Sure WB has lots of content to pull from but if they want to be able to meet the fans expectations, they may have to cut corners somewhere. To keep F2P games going for long stretches of time, it takes much more effort and resources than pairs games. I’m not saying it’s a certainty, but I find it very likely that it will happen sometime in Multiversus’ lifetime. Smash was able to take its time with DLC. That’s why every new fighter added post-launch was really unique, maybe except for the thing you mentioned but that’s really pushing it considering all the new moves and gameplay possibilities the DLC fighters added. Steve and Piranha Plant are good examples. There’s no other fighters in the game who play even remotely close to them, plus you get Smash’s more refined gameplay to go along with them. I just think that Multiversus has a much larger uphill battle than Smash in order to stay popular for the long-term.

    • @nuibaba280
      @nuibaba280 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TVG_Noble No they don't. All they have to do is add CONTENT. Alts and stages will fill the gap between characters. Btw, they work on these characters far in advance. MVS is also simpler than Smash with way less animation and even animation quality needed. MVS has the resources, it's backed by motherfucking *Warner Bros* . Characters are the selling point of this game and they're given the most thought. They won't shoehorn clones and the devs confirmed they have no intention of ever adding echo fighters to MVS.

    • @TVG_Noble
      @TVG_Noble ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I get that the characters are the main appeal, but every F2P game has to cut corners somewhere. Even if clone fighters are never added, which I still doubt that out of the whole history of of the game there won’t be a single one, things have to be reused or retooled. I’m also doubtful about how much workforce WB actually has to work on the game. Yes WB is a huge company, and Multiversus does have a bit less effort needed in order to add things to the game, but Nintendo is still a larger company, and Smash Bros. Is a flagship franchise, meaning that Sakurai has as much resources and money as he needs for development. For a new business venture, Warner Bros. won’t put all hands on deck for the creation of the game, in case it flops. It probably won’t but it’s better to be safe than sorry, especially for a company that’s been bleeding money since the pandemic started. They’ll probably wait until maybe the middle of Season 1 to really put forth full effort, but that’s not completely certain. Sure alts and stages can help fill gaps but that only gets you so far. They probably have content ready for the next season or two but it’ll be difficult for them to sustain a long-term player base without full investment, which WB is generally unwilling to do, and for good reason. They’ve filled a gap in the market, but I won’t be surprised if they’re out-competed within a few years. That happens all the time when one company sees another do well in a new market. MVS might have to take the fall in order for competition to succeed. They’re kinda in a tough spot and I think WB realizes this. Why do you think the roster and stage selection is so limited right now? Not because they are gatekeeping content for later seasons, but because they don’t want to risk everything. If they really wanted to put enough effort into sustainability, don’t you think there’d be many more characters and stages than there will be at launch? I don’t think anything is certain that I’ve said, but I think it’s all highly likely. I understand what you’re trying to say but just filling gaps with alts and a few stages might not be enough. Don’t you feel like it’s more reasonable that maybe a few months done the line they decide to make a clone because they need to fill a drought? The F2P market will eat them alive if they’re not careful. I still think it has lots of potential to succeed though.

    • @nuibaba280
      @nuibaba280 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TVG_Noble This F2P game is already cutting corners. Look at the stage to character ratio. The simplistic art style. Or the overall animations + lack of grabbing and shielding when comparing to Smash's insane animation detail. "Things have to be retooled" no they don't. You can make unique movesets just fine, you're doomposting for the sake of doomposting without looking at the reality of the game. Numerous characters have been datamined, enough to fill the rest of this year and the beginning of the next, if not longer depending on how they stretch this out.
      They're not wasting efforts on a clone character nobody gives a shit about. Otherwise they would've made Uncle Shagworthy and favorites like Cake clones rather than variant skins. Authenticity is MVS' biggest selling point and lazily representing a unique character as a clone goes against their vision.

    problems I have are:
    You said 200 hours is too much time in smash;
    people can play a game as long as they want and considering the game is 4 years old, that’s reasonable as I have 345 hours and have been playing for a year.
    You said that 2 hours to unlock a character isn’t too long.
    In smash, you get a character every match. You could get all 70+ characters of the base roster in that time.
    You say you compete in tourneys, but say that chrom and sephiroth are similar because they both have swords
    I said this in a reply,
    but that’s a garbage take and is stupid,
    that’s like saying crayons and apples are similar because they are both edible.
    Edit: you also said that the differences between chrom and sephiroth are MINOR.
    1. They have completely different movesets.
    2. They have completely different looks.
    3. They are from completely different franchises
    Also basically you called people who had valid arguments “butthurt.”
    Although, I will agree smash online is abysmal, but you said if your games online is bad, people won’t be playing it for very long.
    I, can no joke, right now get on my 3ds with smash 3ds ( which arguably has a worse online mode ) and still find matches in less then a minute.
    The game released almost a decade ago. People might not talk about it, but some people play it.
    Also another thing about the characters, you said you unlocked a character after 2 hours. 2 x 19, that’s 38 hours straight of gameplay to unlock the full cast.
    Plus you said that perks in multiversus are like having items on. Dude, perks really don’t do THAT much. If you were actually good at the game, perks wouldn’t matter. It’s a game about skill.

By that logic, every 2D fighter is a Street Fighter clone or every 3D Fighter is a Tekken clone. It's a weak argument and nothing more than a coping mechanism because people are scared of change. *Let's compare the two on main aspects :*
    *- Gameplay :* - Both equals - both have unique and really fun gameplay - while Smash can be seen as more complex with shields and grabs, but Multiversus also stand out by its innovations like teamwork mechanics, a more complex dodge system, experimental characters like The Iron Giant and the perks system. Both game are also very diverse in terms of character diversity - with easy and accesible ones, and more complex and hard to master ones. So on that level, I would say both games are equal.
    *- Stages :* - Smash wins - Smash Bros is definetely above in terms of stages. For the number of stages alone. Smash has a lot of stages unlike Multiversus (but no doubt Multiversus will have more). But also, Multiversus seems to aim for more "competitive fitting" stages, therefore making stages less unique than Smash bros ones. They fill like little variations with different pictures used as background, no moving stuff or anything. Let's hope to see some moving or more unique stages in the future of Multiversus.
    *- Roster :* - Multiversus wins - Smash Bros has an amazing roster with great names from the video game industry and history, and some amazing 3rd parties. But the extent of Warner Bros ownerships and the fact that Multiversus has no limitation, has Lebron James recent addition proved, makes Multiversus potential huge. We will have to wait and see what 3rd parties are added, but on this I would say that with time, Multiversus has the potential to get a roster cooler than Smash Bros.
    *- Content :* - Smash wins - Multiversus has for sure some good content, having to pay gold coins for characters gives a grind and accomplisment feeling. It gives you a reason to play, because there's always that one character you still need to unlock. As for the coin earning rate, it's indeed a bit slow but will 99% get fixed by the devs because devs seems to be really close and listening to the community. There's also the skins, emotes, banners, badges etc. Multiversus already has the ability to keep players playing the game, but it's not infinite and requires the devs to be constantly adding new stuff. When it comes to gamemode, it's where Multiversus gets a bit lacking and the game definetly needs more gamemode. Smash Bros on the other side has totally understood that. The longevity and replayability of Smash Bros is almost infinite, and it achieves that without unlockables, but with gamemodes. Smash has the special smash mode, tournament mode, squad mode, classic mode, adventure mode, spirit board, home run mode, 1vs100 and All Star modes, stage creater etc. So yeah, Smash wins in terms of content, but lets see how things evolve in the future of Multiversus.
    *- Online mode :* - Multiversus wins - Multiversus devs knew beforehand that this would be a huge deal, and they nailed it - Multiversus online is suprisingly smooth, unlike the atrocious Smash Online experience, and it's a huge deal for Multiversus.
    *- Attention to details and authenticity :* - Both equals - this category is for little stuff that makes the game feel alive and authentic. I'm talking about things like references to character's source materials like for example how the screen turns blurry when you crouch with Velma because she looses her glasses, voiclines, or even interactions between 2 characters from different licenses. It could seem non-important, but is actually a huge deal. It makes the characters feels authentic and it adds a lot to the gameplay. A lack of that kind of stuff is a fatal mistake like the failure of Nickelodeon All Star showed. Fortunately, both games are doing an amazing job on this.
    *- E-sport potential :* - Smash wins - I would argue that right now Smash wins it. I'm not talking about the already established smash e-sport here but more about the potential. Multiversus has improvements to do on their 1vs1 which are lacking due to the game being too 2vs2 centered. Because even though 1vs1 are fun to watch, there are characters who are clearly more fitting the 1vs1 setting than others at very high competitive levels, and it's a problem - because if the scene is lacking of diversity, then the e-sport is less interesting. On that regard, Multiversus needs to release characters made for duos like Lebron James, but also characters made with a 1vs1 focus in mind, like the Assassin class in the game seems to be for right now. As for the viewer perspective, Smash is probably more fun to watch, just because of the hit animations and smash attacks when the screen freeze a bit with the huge impact and that classical ejection sound. Multiversus lacks in that regard, but could improve and has huge potential. I personally hope it becomes the smash bros sucessor.
    *- Price :* - Multiversus wins - well not much to say here, Multiversus is free to play and is therefore able to drag a lot more players and is way more accessible.

    • @nuibaba280
      @nuibaba280 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. E-sport potential for Multiversus is better because PFG and Warner are actually supporting a tourney scene while Nintendo straight up removed Smash from EVO. That's a problem.

    After playing multiversus this game will not be any type of answer competitively speaking to smash. This game has WAY to little hitstun for a fighting game to the point where it feels like advantage and disadvantage does not exist. The combo potential is kinda low as well since hitstun is low and dodging is so overpowered. It feels like they are purposely cutting the creativity in combos so casual players won’t get stomped. If they add more hitstun or less end lag on moves I can see this game being really creative and smooth but as it is now it’s just a fun game but not for tournaments. I think if you guys want this game to thrive competitively we should be pretty vocal to the developers to adding more hitstun to actually have me freedom in combos and make them actually consistent. It will make it a LOT more fun for spectators to watch. I mean most people are already saying it looks kinda bad and chaotic to watch even if it is fun to play. But I will say I haven’t turned it off since I started playing so I do want this game to win
    Plus your take on smash like other people said is just not true. Mario, peach, samus, cloud, marth, rob etc etc all play DRASTICALLY different and have so much character in their animations.
