Bro I ride my r3 with CBR1000s, GSXRs, and R1s and I'm always at the front. Everyone is impressed with its 0-80 acceleration and maneuverability. Only time I get behind is when the road opens up and they get on it. But in reality, most of you're riding is in the 0-80 range and in curves so who cares about top end? Love my R3.
Coming from someone who got an R6 as their first bike because I wanted to "grow into it" ... let me tell you something, the bike is SO FAST on the street it's actually boring to ride. Boring, uncomfortable, and impractical. Don't waste your time unless you are SERIOUSLY skilled and your R3 is literally holding you back... which is basically impossible on the street. Ok if you are a track super star I get it. That's why guys like me who sold their 600's and are looking to get back into riding are looking at these low powered bikes and drooling.
why would you buy a scooter that has clip ons???? Literally poser status, no offense. None of the arrow dynamics are needed or help your bike and is clearly an uncomfortable setup. So why did you buy an r3?? Because you thought it looked like a 600cc that goes around the track and is actually fun.
I ride with CBR1000rr's, GSXR's, and R1's in groups on my lil ol R3 and I'm always at the front of the pack. Only time I get behind is when the road opens up and they get on it, but it never lasts long. Don't let anyone fool you...the R3 don't play in the 0-100 range and in maneuverability.
Bought a new 2018 R3 leftover as my first bike on Saturday and put on 500kms the first 2 days of riding. I love it cant wait for the break in period to be done to push it harder.
@nomaad000 o bought a cbr500r for myself and my wife got a R3... man I'm so jealous of her R3 man. She needs to hurry up and break it in so I can ride it! We've had them a month. I got 1790 miles on mine and I just put a 16t front sprocket in. It pulls way better on the highway now.
All the bikes are slaughtered by your corner speed. Great riding man! Much more fun riding the hell out of a smaller bike than going slow on a bigger one. Plus the look on their faces when you pass em'!
So nice to see you playing with this guys! Love the way you break and change direction quickly. Did your back wheel lock with those down shift movements? I have a YZF r125 and i'm doing good against the 600cc sometimes but my rear wheel...jesus i just can't down shift so hard as you do. Any tips? Keep going mate!
I bet it puts a big smile on your face when you pass up these guy's in the corners both on the track and on the streets .... And a really big 😕🤔💭 on theirs 😆
@@__fitriderr6584 The English winter was shit, I felt totally out of practice when going for a serious ride. Had to go to a car park to get my rusted body used to moving again. People who can ride year hard all year are very fortunate. :)
Being that the r3 isn't built in Japan, do you see or experienced any faults with quality? KTM 390 bikes from what I've heard have issues and it seems due to build quality from India. I sold my r6 trackbike and am considering going to r3 for racing. First impression on the latest gen has been good so far with the updated forks. So I'm more then ever interested. Thanks
I dont think the ktm 390 issue is because it was built in India. Ktms just have a motor issue in general from what i heard. I never had any problems on my r3.
@@deecaliboy good to hear! Also, since you have the latest gen with USD forks, have you done any tuning with the forks such as cartridges? I hear they may be an issue compared to last gen's traditional forks.
@@deecaliboy I was talking to a performance shop that does work on a lot of local club level participants and he said aftermarket support for the updated forks are iffy compared to the availability of last gen's. Granted it is a new gen so I'm assuming like any new model, it's going to take sometime before suspension companies produces kits/components for this bike. I may consider going with the previous gen, but it's very very tempting to get the 2019 as it's ticking all the boxes for me!
@@signal_rr not unless you are planning on using the r3 as a race bike, its a great idea to upgrade the suspension. But the stock suspension is more than capable enough to handle anything you throw at it.
How do you go about braking while downshifting? I have trouble blipping the throttle while also braking. I always seem to pull the brake in a bit more as I blip it and it is a rather uncomfortable feeling
It's all about practice - I had the opposite issue: not keeping the braking steady while blipping the throttle. Adjusting your controls, mainly lever position can help getting a better feeling (there's a video by Dave Moss if you search about his name and hand control ergonomics).
On the r3 i dont blip the throttle. I’m already at such a high rpm. Blipping while downshifting would just overrev the engine. I just slowly let off the clutch
Im going on track in a week and its my first time.. I got stock suspensions too on my r3 may i know the setting of your rear shock. Mine got 3 which is the standard do i need to adjust it?

Proves that even a smaller cc bike, you can have a helluva fun. It can corner as well as the big boys.
You are too good at cornering🏍️🏍️

I’m using a GoPro windslayer foam i bought from Amazon

Good choice
Agreed. I'd upgrade to the RSV4 too. Apparently it's the closest to real race bikes compared to R1M, ZX-10R, S1K etc..
