    0 G is a great hose, definitely important to get lead free drinking hoses, and water regulator is also critical. One thing that you're missing since you got the Y connector is a backflow preventor between the Y and the clean out hose. They are cheap and if there is ever more pressure on the black/grey side (~20 - 30 pounds) than the fresh side it can act as a siphon and pull black/grey water into your fresh. I use a water powered macerator (the sewer solution) and a backpressure preventor is critical in how my clean out is setup. Maybe your system has something built to prevent this but Y connectors can be a source of contamination so for $10 bucks you can make sure that doesn't happen. 👍

    Great tips for the New RVer. You add a 1 way valve/backflow preventer on your black tank flush hose. This will prevent anything from contaminating your drinking hose, splitter and/or the spigot. Thanks for sharing! Steve

      @@McGuiresOnTires I'm in an 22 foot airstream myself. Do you know if there's any other things needed to activate the water system in the trailer for the sink, shower and toilet? Or is it just hooking up the water like you showed and it should work?

    • @McGuiresOnTires
      @McGuiresOnTires  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joeslacker1020 We've not used an Airstream but typically you have two options. If you connect to a water source (such as city water), you are all set. If you carry your own water (in your fresh water tank), you will need to turn on your water pump to create enough pressure to push the water through the pipes in your rig. Good luck to you. You are going to have a great time!

    Use zero G as well good stuff. I do not leave my black tank hose hooked up unless I am dumping as I am concerned about the "back flow" potential working its way back into the splitter into the Zero G. But maybe I am just paranoid LOL. good tips and info!!!

    great video thank you! I have a question, is it possible that there can be a back-flow in the splitter at the spigot? I mean if you have the drinking water valve on and then you open the black-tank hose valve on the splitter is there a possibility that water can push back through the Y to the drinking water/filter side?

      So glad you found it. We don't have any extra backflow measures beyond what's built in. The drinking water and black tank flush are both inlet to the RV so neither would be able to flow back into the other. I hope that helps. Thanks for checking us out. Hope your camping is going well!

    • @McGuiresOnTires
      @McGuiresOnTires  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people have strong opinions about this. I do not. We put ours at the spigot so that everything's together. Sometimes there is not enough room for the filter there because the connection is so low to the ground. That would be a reason to want your filter closest to the rv. What is your preference?

    • @Mr2ndkings
