Dslyecxi this was absolutely awesome. If I might suggest however, it would be great if you could cover vehicle penetration/ricochet and armored vehicle penetration with higher caliber. I know that in real life vehicles offer minimum cover unless the round hits the engine block. You could also go over use of cover of vehicles for when they have to. I know that rounds skip off hoods of cars often right into the face of the target unless they take a few steps back from the vehicle/cover. Also change in bullets flight path when firing through glass would be greatly informative, and so too would be penetration and velocity of rounds through flesh and protective armor. Thanks man you are the best
***** Still doesn't included the DLC etc. Which I would need, and I dont trust shitty ass third party sites like that, rather just wait till its on sale.
Man, that warehouse.... There should be a lot more penetration on those thin warehouse walls... In real life 5.56 will punch through a car door and have plenty of killing power coming out the other side. If it can do that then it should easily punch through that sheet metal used on that building.
Yeah, heard that some 9mm rounds were made for punching through warehouse walls in drug raids or something as well. If a 9mm can do that, a 5.56 is just going to cut straight through.
Again that would depend on the type of round. Yeah you may get standard 5.56mm NATO but there are other said variants of the calibre like TRACER, Drill, Blanks and SPR (Steel Penetrating or Armoured piercing). Likelihood of going through a car door IRL with a standard 5.56 round is probably minimal unless your in a close quarter combat situation where the bullet still has a lot of velocity then the chances of penetration are increased but not really by much and also the chances of a ricochet being more dangerous to yourself. Steel penetrating however is made for punching through harder materials than your average 5.56 round and would probably go through a car door but will still have penetration issues over distance being that the round is still a 5.56.
Sarge Squid Full metal jacket will punch through the average car door. How do I know this? Because i've shot car doors with my AR, with full metal jacket. Car door is also layered, sheet metal is NOT. .556 would have no problem whatsoever going through sheet metal.
Not a range. No ranges I know of would allow you to fire full metal jackets at steal. But I do live in Vegas and there's plenty of desert to go around.

This is some of the most useful/ interesting content I've seen for Arma3, I havent been playing for very long, and it's still amazing to me how detailed the game is. Thank you!
I've played with this before and tested all the different bullet types too but not to this depth.. this is a wonderful resource to use for training within the arma realism units. It's a good resource to teach the unit members what/how they suppress or kill an enemy, and also informs them of what cover will protect them against different round types. Informative as always, keep em coming.
If Im not mistaken thats what it originally was meant for. Incendiary rounds punching through armor and hitting ammo stores in a tank can do nasty things. It eventually did become a favorite with snipers against infantry due to its effectiveness at range. At almost any distance a shot to the body would split a man in 2 or more pieces.
Yes, 0.50 can. But the problem is that ArmA III vehicles aren't realistic enough to use this feature somewhere (I'm talking about armour, this works well with cars and MRAPs), because crewmen are not in right places quite often and, as I think after studying vehicles' models, may sometimes be protected by some additional "textures", so, unfortunately, for now, armour neutralization using anti-materiel rifles is limited by killing crew, when they are turned out, or shooting APCs' and IFVs' turrets (I've mentioned, that AS50 completely wrecked Marshall's gun (not the whole turret) with one magnificient shot, making it much less dangerous). Well, also, as we know, AI crew leave their vehicles, when some of systems of vehicle are damaged enough (like 50% of wheels missing, or immobilization, like wrecked engine or tank tracks), so, if it comes to it, it is a way too.
I had in my mind to start making videos and I wanted to make my first video about balistics in Arma 3, I know it's too late cause it's 2016, but new update Apex expansion made me play Arma again, and i see still servers full of people, but this video just explained almost everything better than anyone else and I see no point of doing one! You are awesome man!
Oh wow, sandbags can't stop 7.62 NATO? That's all sorts of wrong! Realistically a single row of sand bags has no trouble stopping 7.62 NATO even at point blank ranges. You can dump an entire 20rd into a single sandbag on a wall before it starts to come apart. A double row will stop .50 BMG and only has a little bit of energy from a single row. Sandbags are tough items to beat in real life.
On the other hand, we were shooting 5.56x45mm at a thick chunk of wood (25cm or so) at ~150m for reasons. All of the shots went clean through and the backside looked ravaged. Since then, I didn't see trees as cover anymore.
Well, this game plays about 25 years in the future, so I think it would be plausible that weapons up to that point have a much higher muzzle velocity than today. Other than that, they may have just got this wrong.
@@seawolf9616 They are still using modern rounds, which means muzzle velocities stay similar unless there are some big breakthroughs in powder technology. Remember that the M16 and 5.56 NATO have been in use for over 55 years, and the biggest breakthrough for the round has probably been upgrading to the M855A1.
Dang, I had no idea you could see and do this with Arma. Top notch information in all of your videos. Thank you. Every time I think I figured out the ends of this 'game', I realize I'm still dog-paddling around the surface and that it's way less of a game in any traditional sense.
I don't now why, but I can listen to dslyecxi narrating WHATEVER for hours and hours. Oh, and the topic was relevant to my interests too. Win win for me :)
I know this video is pretty old, but man do I wish someone would go as in depth as you go in all aspects of Arma 3, I know Arma is a niche game but I think we can get a influx of new players if we could make this awesome characteristics of the game known to everybody, thanks for this man.
Thats simply Next Gen ! Ähm, what was the goal of the consoles ? Next Gen graphics - they sucked ! Next Gen physics - they sucked ! Next Gen gameplay - they sucked ! Only Marketing......its just the "next generation of consoles" and thats what the Next Gen means on consoles ! Im glad games like ARMA exists and have so a great mod community ^-^
except physics, they need to do extra work for more realistic and precision calculation but utilized hardware efficiently (ARMA is well known for bad at optimization)
You'll need to factor in that it's consoles though. So in the consoles segment, they're next gen. It's like saying your phone is next gen. Nobody expects it to outclass a powerhouse PC in terms of computing power. For a phone, it's probably quite good. Consoles always compare to lower-range PCs when it comes to computing power. Which should be obvious given their size and price. I know there are people who claim their XBox can fly to outer space and cast magic spells but the majority of people don't actually think "next gen graphics" means anything outside of the console market.
Keep this level of stuff coming Dsylexci, it's raising the bar of the Community. I cannot get over some of the recent MOD releases lately, just over 6 weeks after Official release. Things like this serve to increase our knowledge and therefore our improve our MODS, Missions and general level of awareness of the tactical possibilities. Excellent work. Have a LIKE.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've casually played since the day it came out, and am getting ready to get serious about playing (now that I've upgraded my PC)... but I had no idea the ballistic physics were modeled so well.
*Gimme Shelter?* The Rolling Stones would get slaughtered in ArmA 3. Led Zeppelin would fair better by being Over The Hills and Far Away! This is no game.
looks to be the same (?) one you'd shared awhile back.. or similar? it was the ones with zombies walking thru walls.. oh; ok, different. no chirping birds.. wow! very *real* man!! o.O !!
So what is the bet that is one mission when arma 3 becomes the shack tac primary focus, you will sport a mission where you just unleash on a township. Like 5 little birds, 10 APC's and 20 HMG unleash. then you looking for survivors, room by room meeting heavy resistance from a injured foe?
I highly enjoy sniping on KotH, and this video is a tremendous amount of help and it's so awesome how Arma is this realistic. Thanks for the video dude!
Hahahaha.. Next time i'm manning the guns and some enemy ground troops run into a building desperate for safety, i'll just wear a big grin as i light the place up.
I'd be interested to see how it does in water, as Mythbusters have tested in real life, rounds with the least energy actually travel further going from air to water, where as a 50cal barely penetrated any water as the bullet pretty much destroyed itself upon impact, wonder if Arma kept those in mind.
Wow man! You did a really good job with explaining this in a simple and effective way without having to go into much detail. Awesome job man! I look forward to more of your work.
+James Hhhh (BlindSpider582) You already have them in the virtual training environment. However, Dslyecxi is using some additional scripts here so I assume that's what you are after. Go to the Steam workshop and have a look around.
Load a terrain in the editor, place down a playable character, adjust his loadout to the weapon you would like to test and preview the mission. Once in game press Escape, you should see the debug console in the middle of your screen. Paste this code in there. [player, 20] spawn BIS_fnc_traceBullets; Then press "Local Exec" - you will now have bullet tracing applied to your character for the next 20 rounds. If you reach 21 the trace of the first round you fired will be removed. It will only display 20 traces unless you change the number in the code. You can also apply it to vehicles. Follow the same steps as above but this time place a vehicle down instead of the player. Preview. Make sure your player is inside the vehicle you want to add the tracing to. Open the debug console and paste this code in there. [(vehicle player), 20] spawn BIS_fnc_traceBullets; Then press "Local Exec"
long time player of Operation Flashpoint and Arma Series. THIS was fantastic. It must have taken a ton of time to do. WOW, they BIS should employ to to help sell this game. I never knew they had improved that much. THANKS Dslyecxi
9.3, .408, .338 and .50 rifle rounds in Arma will pierce straight through light armored vehicles such as the strider and hunter and ifrit. Having a strong ballistics knowledge I knew this when the marksmen DLC came out and people were puzzled when I was hitting them inside their vehicles with the 9.3 and .338 rounds
As a gun nut, I can tell you that no wooden wall is going to richochet any of these rounds. They punch right through wood. Metal is adifferent story. Additionally I don't think they account for bullet deformation which drastically alters ballistics
T'hat King I have Athlon II X6 and it does use all the 6 cores atleast... also they have tweaked the ballistics to match real life better after this vid was released
Maybe the most usefull and complete playtrought of ARMA I've seen before ! Gratz and surely THANK YOU for your work ! Even help me to know much in ballistic for my job !
want some extremely realistic and authentic long range shooting/sniping gameplay? There's a mod called "Advanced Ballistics" which simulates all the physics of long range shooting (real Ballistics Coefficient, dynamic Muzzle Velocity, dynamic Air Density/Atmospheric condition, inclination angle effect, Spin drift & Coriolis effect, Uprange & Downrange Wind, and even Mirage). Download it here: forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181324-Advanced-Ballistics-(WIP)
Thanks for going to the trouble of making the video I had no idea this game had ballistics this complex. Arma3 looks so good I've enjoyed playing it so far
i remember watching a video of you fighting in arma 2 at night haha you were brutal good, now you bring me this amazing video. ill be sure to consider this in weapon choice and its given me a great understanding on combat mechanics in arma 3.
it turns out that Arma 3 is truly able to simulate exterior ballistics aspect! There's a ballistics mod called "Advanced Ballistics" which make the Arma 3 engine capable of having Atmospheric Parameters (Air Density) into the ballistics! "Advanced Ballistics" makes the game have real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle Velocity like real projectile does! in real life, there are lotta aspects that have great effect on the bullet trajectory (based on the BC, MV, etc): 1) Bullet Drop range, angle of firing, muzzle velocity (corresponding to ammo temp), air pressure, air temperature, humidity, & Coriolis effect (earth rotation) 2) Sideway Drift Spin drift/Gyroscopic effect, Coriolis effect (earth rotation), and Wind deflection (speed & direction) "Advanced Ballistics" offers all those things! So what are you waiting for? Download "Advanced Ballistics" here: forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181324-Advanced-Ballistics-%28WIP%29
There is one Arma 2 mod called "Dagger Ballistics" which tries to improve the realism of ACE bullet trajectory. The mod was made based on real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle velocity, The Bullet Drop & the Wind Drift of each bullet was calculated using a ballistics solver called "GNU Ballistics". so this is a "Mod of a Mod" that makes ACE become even more realistic \m/ download it here: www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24600
if you guys wanna dig deeper into long range shooting & ballistics stuffs, i highly recommend everyone to buy a simulator called "Shooter Ready", this sim will teach you guys everything about long range shooting & ballistics. buy it here: www.shooterready.com/
i think Arma's engine is still incapable of including atmospheric parameter into the ballistics but it can simulate real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle velocity though, it's still able to have realistic bullet drop & wind drift, but sadly those dumbass military wannabes (including Dslyecxi himself) won't even give a damn about projectile trajectory coz they ain't got enough brain to do the math for real long range shooting lol XD
I don't play any of the Arma games but this video had me hooked from beginning to end. Very interesting how much work went into ballistics in this game, I wish more games had such advanced bullet physics. Great video with great narrating.
Very good cover of the topic, the only area I missed is unit protection, be it infantry or vehicles. Likewise is it possible for individual passengers in closed armoured vehicle (say APC) to get hit, or is all hitting bullets on closed vehicles just applied as damage to whatever area is hit? Edit: To answer my own last question. Marshall (NATO APC) shooting AP at another fully manned Marshal: Trajectory lines goes through Marshall coming out on the other side. Interior of Marshall not rendered in "Splendid Camera", but by entering the shot Marshall it shows individual passengers killed inside. Whether those who were killed were in the projectile trajectory or were randomly selected among the cargo is unclear.
Rispettoh I'm sorry, but then you have have the draw distanced turned all the way to nothing or something. A 7790 isn't much of a graphics card. I have a 7970 Ghz edition with a i5 2500k @ 4.3Ghz and I get ~30fps with everything maxed out and a reasonable draw distance. Those frames don't even hold when in a fast moving vehicle or a helicopter.
_Myst I have a much worse rig, AMD Phenom ll X4 965 @ 3.4Ghz, AMD Sapphire HD 7770 Ghz edition with 8Gb of RAM, yet it never drops below 30 in combat, and even in multiplayer I get playable framerates (thouh there are crappily scripted servers where I tend to get an unchangable 10 FPS (unchangable = I get the same FPS on low and ultra).
Rispettoh Brokkolesz That depends on your view distance, not all about graphics quality. I can run ultra on 30 fps but does that mean I have a good machine if I did that on 300 VD?
It's pleasant to see that the developers worked that out with real love! Helped me play, by the way))) I discovered new possibilities of cleaning houses and fortifications.
5.56 works well if you have a realism mod like Ace 3. Arma 3 doesn't represent the actual power of the 5.56 very well. The 5.56 travels at a muzzle velocity of around 3,100 feet per second. This makes it excellent for defeating body armor. When a 5.56 round enters a soft target such as a human being it tumbles. This makes it break apart and fragment inside the body causing massive permanent cavity in the body. It's a good little round irl but arma 3 really dumbs it down.
+Reaper1911gr 5.56 doesnt have much power as it is. its a really light round that, sure itll punch through body armor, but i barely has any knock down power. homestly, a 6.88x45mm round would be ideal as it's heavy enough to knock someone down, but is small enough to penetrate most sapi's, and other armor.
Man, I didn't even know the ArmA ballistics were that advanced.
i never did either , until i got shot behind sandbags by a .50
I love using the m14 in this game
Same here
I got fked by a pistol at 800M in a head by an AI!! YES AN AI!
So advanced this game is, even to this day
I don't even play Arma 3 but this shit was fucking fascinating.
***** you should give it a try :D theres so manny things to do on it.
***** indeed!

problem is, for some of us its hard to get a good pc to play it on

really liked this video about penetrations and holes
lol
You can find that on Pornhub (jk)
i never thought the game has this built in it o.O now no wonders why this game is a CPU killer :D
You can call it a CPU killer once it uses more then a single fucking core
WUUUT o.O did not know about that xD
Vuk Bozic
if you bought it on steam you can set it up in launch options by typing -cpuCount=(number of cpu cores)
yup looked after it a bit :) and it can be set
Vuk Bozic Thats why you always buy intel. Then you dont need to worry about that kinda stuff.
Fantastic vid, thanks for taking time to do this.

I would expect 9mm to be in the ballpark of .45 ACP. The rest would be interesting though, especially at extreme ranges. How much plywood can I smash from >1km?
Extremely well done video. Now I just need to find out how to play ARMA
LOL
Is the same terminal ballistic from Arma 3 being implemented in DayZ Standalone? Or is it still using the Arma 2 one?
I'd be very interested in seeing something like this against vehicles.

This is by far the best Arma 3 video ive ever seen
I'd love a short Re-Hash of this with the new 9.3 and .408 weapons in the Marksman update.
Or maybe a whole one on vehicles.
Abdukctkaz what about modded guns? I'd love to see the ballistics and behavior of RHS weapons.
Marksman DLC is 5yrs old now? Fuck
this actually answers so many questions i had while playing arma on the seemingly random damage done. it was nice to finally see what was going on
This is incredible. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to compile this. This is a great example of why I love the Arma community.
Thanks Dslyecxi for putting the time in on this one.. I wasn't aware how detailed and well done this was.

This is some of the most useful/ interesting content I've seen for Arma3, I havent been playing for very long, and it's still amazing to me how detailed the game is. Thank you!
The detail of this game is so good !
Awesome video, I also didn’t realize that Arma ballistics took these details into account.
I dont play arma much, but I really epreciate the video, you obviously put alot of work so very good job, also add 1 more sub to the list
I've played with this before and tested all the different bullet types too but not to this depth.. this is a wonderful resource to use for training within the arma realism units. It's a good resource to teach the unit members what/how they suppress or kill an enemy, and also informs them of what cover will protect them against different round types. Informative as always, keep em coming.
wait.. does that mean that a 50 cal can punch through the armor of a vehicle to kill someone?
i7fan I mean.. ingame.. I know what a 50 CAL can do.
Verdigo again... not in real life.. in the game.
I KNOW WHAT A 50 CAN DO IN REAL LIFE!
Tyler Geyser yes. thank you :D
@@seawolf9616 25 years is like a blink of an eye in a bullets life and even less so for NATO rounds or 7.62 round.
@@seawolf9616 they don't, guns in Altis reportedly shoot at much the same muzzle velocities we have today.
That was probably the most informative Arma video I've ever watched,
Great vids, I get called all sorts of names by shooting people through walls and floors, knowing stuff like this can be deadly
Dang, I had no idea you could see and do this with Arma. Top notch information in all of your videos. Thank you.
Every time I think I figured out the ends of this 'game', I realize I'm still dog-paddling around the surface and that it's way less of a game in any traditional sense.
Dude that was fucking awesome. You should be getting paid for this work you're doing.
I don't now why, but I can listen to dslyecxi narrating WHATEVER for hours and hours.
Oh, and the topic was relevant to my interests too.
Win win for me :)
great video, makes me want to get ARMA III
If you have not already, I highly recommend it. It will have a long life due to mods, and the multiplayer is doing fairly well :D
Great video! This was a theme i had always asked myself of... You made it pretty clear
very fascinating and detailed analysis for a game! wow.
Quality content man. The best Arma3 youtube content there is.
How bout 2.7 mm Kolibri? Will it do anything?
Maybe it will go through paper
Wow! Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Very informational content and narrated in a clear and pleasant voice.
arma 4 hopefully will have bullet holes
I know this video is pretty old, but man do I wish someone would go as in depth as you go in all aspects of Arma 3, I know Arma is a niche game but I think we can get a influx of new players if we could make this awesome characteristics of the game known to everybody, thanks for this man.
"So we've covered basic penetration"
And I am not as old as I thought I was...
Relaxing voice and 5/7 spectator camera usage, got my like
Thats simply Next Gen !
+1 Dude
The graphics really didn't suck.... But I kind of agree on the rest.
MASSTERCAM v
except physics, they need to do extra work for more realistic and precision calculation but utilized hardware efficiently (ARMA is well known for bad at optimization)
This was pretty great. It teaches a powerful lesson about concealment vs cover.
"7.62 and up is where the real penetration happens"
Keep this level of stuff coming Dsylexci, it's raising the bar of the Community. I cannot get over some of the recent MOD releases lately, just over 6 weeks after Official release. Things like this serve to increase our knowledge and therefore our improve our MODS, Missions and general level of awareness of the tactical possibilities. Excellent work. Have a LIKE.
very impressive and informative
Didn't even know Arma 3 was this advanced, it's really interesting. Great job on teaching us it, too.
Can you do the same with all vehicles? :3
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've casually played since the day it came out, and am getting ready to get serious about playing (now that I've upgraded my PC)... but I had no idea the ballistic physics were modeled so well.
*Gimme Shelter?*
The Rolling Stones would get slaughtered in ArmA 3.
Led Zeppelin would fair better by being Over The Hills and Far Away!
This is no game.
looks to be the same (?) one you'd shared awhile back.. or similar?
it was the ones with zombies walking thru walls..
oh; ok, different. no chirping birds.. wow! very *real*
man!! o.O !!
or .. the man _looks_ real..
There are chirping birds in this one too.
Also rabbits, butterflies, bees and tanks :-)
You're in for a treat with all of the ShackTac videos
So what is the bet that is one mission when arma 3 becomes the shack tac primary focus, you will sport a mission where you just unleash on a township.
Like 5 little birds, 10 APC's and 20 HMG unleash. then you looking for survivors, room by room meeting heavy resistance from a injured foe?
Die Hard rip off...
I had no idea they modeled the ballistics in this game like that. Now I want to try it out again.
I look forward to more of your work.
you just give us a crash course on ballistics and forensics.. thanks
Does this apply to multiplayer?
+incimo - Yep.
+Dslyecxi so how can i get the ballistic lines in the game
+James Hhhh (BlindSpider582) You already have them in the virtual training environment. However, Dslyecxi is using some additional scripts here so I assume that's what you are after. Go to the Steam workshop and have a look around.
+Dslyecxi I would love to see .338 in these exercises.
Load a terrain in the editor, place down a playable character, adjust his loadout to the weapon you would like to test and preview the mission. Once in game press Escape, you should see the debug console in the middle of your screen. Paste this code in there.
[player, 20] spawn BIS_fnc_traceBullets;
Then press "Local Exec" - you will now have bullet tracing applied to your character for the next 20 rounds.
[(vehicle player), 20] spawn BIS_fnc_traceBullets;
Then press "Local Exec"
How about grenade shrapnel?
Shame, it isn't in the game yet*
*hopefully yet
A brilliantly filmed and well thought out analysis. Thanks for sharing.
So basically if I master ricocheting SMGs I can shoot around or into corners? lol jk
***** Typical ArmA community after DayZ killed it xD
Or you could learn to curved the bullets "Wanted" style
Or become revolver Ocelot
long time player of Operation Flashpoint and Arma Series.
THIS was fantastic.
It must have taken a ton of time to do.
WOW, they BIS should employ to to help sell this game. I never knew they had improved that much.
THANKS Dslyecxi
could you do a video of infantry guns peircing vehicles and soft spots
9.3, .408, .338 and .50 rifle rounds in Arma will pierce straight through light armored vehicles such as the strider and hunter and ifrit. Having a strong ballistics knowledge I knew this when the marksmen DLC came out and people were puzzled when I was hitting them inside their vehicles with the 9.3 and .338 rounds
This is the first video on youtube I feel like deserves two likes, informative and beautiful
As a gun nut, I can tell you that no wooden wall is going to richochet any of these rounds. They punch right through wood. Metal is adifferent story. Additionally I don't think they account for bullet deformation which drastically alters ballistics
Still I think it should be added, if you play arma you should have an i7 IMO
Johnathan List Can Arma 3 even use eight cores?
T'hat King It can't even utilize one. Utilization is horrible on Arma 3's engine. Nice avatar btw. Samus FTW
T'hat King I have Athlon II X6 and it does use all the 6 cores atleast... also they have tweaked the ballistics to match real life better after this vid was released
Johnathan List Not at all, it's just different formulas. I think nothing changes for the collision part which is the real computing part.
Download it here: forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181324-Advanced-Ballistics-(WIP)
thanks for the suggestion, this mod is truly amazing especially for sniping :) it makes sniping so much more challenging!
Vena Viveka sure sis, this mod is a must for precision shooting/sniping enthusiast :D please share it with others ;)
Vivekananda Lengkong but it kinda conflicts with AGM :'(
Vivekananda Lengkong just delete AGM wind, scopes, overheat, goggles, recoil, resting, and safemode from the mod folder.
Soekarno Hatta yup thanks for the info :)
Thanks for going to the trouble of making the video I had no idea this game had ballistics this complex. Arma3 looks so good I've enjoyed playing it so far
walls and fences are about the only thing i've been penetrating for quite a while
i remember watching a video of you fighting in arma 2 at night haha you were brutal good, now you bring me this amazing video. ill be sure to consider this in weapon choice and its given me a great understanding on combat mechanics in arma 3.
it turns out that Arma 3 is truly able to simulate exterior ballistics aspect! There's a ballistics mod called "Advanced Ballistics" which make the Arma 3 engine capable of having Atmospheric Parameters (Air Density) into the ballistics! "Advanced Ballistics" makes the game have real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle Velocity like real projectile does! in real life, there are lotta aspects that have great effect on the bullet trajectory (based on the BC, MV, etc):
1) Bullet Drop
range, angle of firing, muzzle velocity (corresponding to ammo temp), air pressure, air temperature, humidity, & Coriolis effect (earth rotation)
2) Sideway Drift
Spin drift/Gyroscopic effect, Coriolis effect (earth rotation), and Wind deflection (speed & direction)
"Advanced Ballistics" offers all those things! So what are you waiting for? Download "Advanced Ballistics" here: forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?181324-Advanced-Ballistics-%28WIP%29
There is one Arma 2 mod called "Dagger Ballistics" which tries to improve the realism of ACE bullet trajectory. The mod was made based on real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle velocity, The Bullet Drop & the Wind Drift of each bullet was calculated using a ballistics solver called "GNU Ballistics". so this is a "Mod of a Mod" that makes ACE become even more realistic \m/ download it here: www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24600
if you guys wanna dig deeper into long range shooting & ballistics stuffs, i highly recommend everyone to buy a simulator called "Shooter Ready", this sim will teach you guys everything about long range shooting & ballistics. buy it here: www.shooterready.com/
if you guys want a free giveaway of "Shooter Ready", just download it here for free: www.mediafire.com/download/8ichhlw7hki6wn6/LRSSwin.zip
& by the way, fuck CoD & BF coz they ain't got nothing on Arma! ^_^
i think Arma's engine is still incapable of including atmospheric parameter into the ballistics but it can simulate real Ballistics Coefficient & Muzzle velocity though, it's still able to have realistic bullet drop & wind drift, but sadly those dumbass military wannabes (including Dslyecxi himself) won't even give a damn about projectile trajectory coz they ain't got enough brain to do the math for real long range shooting lol XD
I don't play this game, and I never have. But you get a like for having such a clean, well put together video. Very nicely done my man
I honestly thought 1:40 was a live actor....
How his hand was clipping through his body
I don't play any of the Arma games but this video had me hooked from beginning to end. Very interesting how much work went into ballistics in this game, I wish more games had such advanced bullet physics.
Great video with great narrating.
Can you upload the new script?
SecondSideGaming I second that...PLEASE.
Thank you Hello.
Marshall (NATO APC) shooting AP at another fully manned Marshal:
Trajectory lines goes through Marshall coming out on the other side. Interior of Marshall not rendered in "Splendid Camera", but by entering the shot Marshall it shows individual passengers killed inside. Whether those who were killed were in the projectile trajectory or were randomly selected among the cargo is unclear.
Could I run this maxed out?
Specs-
Raedon HD 7790 over clocked
G Skill 16gb RAM
Fx 6300 @ 4.1 GhZ
No, it is very CPU/GPU intense and you'd need pretty top of the line hardware to max it out
V1OL4T3R His is more than enough to max out. I have less, and get 30 fps on Ultra.
Seriously man.. don't just flap your mouth for no reason.
Rispettoh
I'm sorry, but then you have have the draw distanced turned all the way to nothing or something.
Well I'm not taking 5.56 on ops anymore.
+Reaper1911gr Never play Arma without ACE lol
Sailor of the Soul I'm a medic in my group. ACE advanced medical all day.
sgteddy1212 Four different kinds of bandages, god I love this mod!
Thank you Dslyexi! You've been very helpful since i'm new to Arma
