Timing on your video is quite excellent. One of my customers asked me to replace their old T stat with something newer with remote control capability. I chose the Honeywell 9000. Good to know I made the right decision.

Have had experiences with several thermostats and Honeywell smart thermostats like the Prestige and 9000 work the best. They do a good job inserting a couple of extra cycles per hour to keep the temperate more consistent and the overcooling feature does a good job controlling high humidity. Some other brands will not overcool until the temperature goes above the setpoint with each cycle. Honeywell will keep it a couple of degrees cooler during periods of higher humidity if you enable overcooling. One thing mine lacks is any type of lockouts on the cooling and heating. If you say turn the AC down low with a temporary override. When the override expires it will turn the heat on right away if the temperature is below the heating setpoint. It will do this even it it's 80 degrees outside. Should have some type of delay at least when running in autochangeover mode. Same with heat. Lets say someone turns the heat up to 75 till 5 pm. When it goes back to schedule and the cooling is set to 74, it will turn the AC on to lower the temperature to 74 even if it's 20 degrees outside. C'mon Honeywell use some logic! I want a true set it and forget it with fail safes. I put my own lockouts so the heat can't run if it's above 65 and the AC won't run if it's below 50. Other than that no complaints.

Removing a stat has to be done from the Web, can't be done from the App. Also, you get monthly usage reports on heating/cooling hours used per month and a comparison to the same month of the prior year, which is nice. Not all flavors support 2 stage AC, so when using for commercial units make sure to buy the correct one.

Honestly I have a Nest and it's not too bad.. App seems like it was designed by a 2 year old but it's fully functional.. Was free through a program with our electric/gas company so I'm not complaining. Moving soon and plan on using in the new house.

Hey Mike, I have a Nest 3rd generation installed in my furnace (Kerosene) I also have an old Honeywell and I installed together with the Nest, the reason I installed the honeywell was because just in case the Nest fails, the honeywell kicks in, I set the nest at 55 degrees and the honeywell at 48. Do you see any problem having two installed together??

I have a 2 story house. one furnace. the colder it gets outside naturally the more the furnace runs. The upstairs gets hotter the more colder it gets outside. I have the honeywell rth9580 thermostat downstairs. Ive contemplated installing another rth9580 upstairs, but not sure how that would work, or just moving the downstairs thermostat upstairs. Not sure what to do. I like the honeywell rth9580 but not sure if it will handle 2 thermostats controlling the same furnace unless they talk to each other????

Mikey, I've installed the Honeywell home 9000 today everything installed fine except in the IOS Resideo app. The Resideo app does not have the Honeywell Home 9000 thermostat in the selection list, therefor I cannot control it from apple phone which has the latest IOS version 16.2. Resideo app is the problem as they don't have it as part of the selection. I've been to the Resideo website but I can't find anything regarding this thermostat. I bought this thermostat so that I can control it from my iphone not my deskstop. Any ideas ? Have you heard anything about this issue with this thermostat not being on the Resideo iphone app? thanks for your help.

Mikey, I’ve picked my 2 numbers, but I’m not going to divulge them for fear that I might win one of those Nest thermostats‼️😂
Nest, in my view, is a novelty gadget. It has become extremely popular, primarily because of it’s unique cosmetic design, and NOT because of what’s “under the hood”, so to speak.
I installed an upstairs and a downstairs Prestige® IAQ with Equipment Interface Module Honeywell thermostat. They are complicated because they require the Module which must be located elsewhere in the house to work. Thermostat requires only 2 wires, R & C❗️The system also uses an outdoor temp/humidity sensor and in my case, 2 remote indoor wireless temperature sensors. Those 2 indoor remotes + the main Prestige perform the function of temperature averaging for greater indoor comfort!
Wishing the winner of those Nest’s, the very best! They make very attractive paperweights for one’s desk😂

  • @imkadosh
    @imkadosh ปีที่แล้ว

    Dear Pipe Doctor PI,
I have a Nest thermostat which I hate hate hate! I wonder if you know of one thermostat which can go on wi-fi by itself, that the numbers on the screen be large(because I need reading glasses every time I need to check on the temp), and that it has a large screen. Those are my 3 needs. The reason I need for it to detect the wi-fi is because I shut off my wi-fi at night, and in the morning I turn it back on. But the nest thermostat will not pick up on the wi-fi every morning, but rather needs me to re-program it as it if were the first time I am connecting it to the wi-fi. This is one of the reasons I no longer change my temperature from my couch using my computer because I have to get up and reprogram the unintelligent thing !!

Some thermostats require a jumper. Does this one require that connection?
How do I know? The person who tossed out my $250 claimed it was bad and replaced it with a $20 one. They claimed it not heating was normal and that the heat pump had to be subsidized with a kerosene heater. They didn’t connect the emergency heat jumper. There is more to the story but don’t see the need to tell the entire drama.

Easy to remove, just need to know the unique network MAC address of the old units. U can find it on the old device if u still have it. U can also reconnect the old units if u have them and they are still working. If not, go into the network router serving your home network, find the MAC addresses of all the units online and copy those MAC numbers down. Then by process of elimination remove the ones on the my connect portal that u did not write down. There is also free software out there that will scan your network (wired or wifi) and can give u the same info, IP address and MAC address. And my lucky number is 48.

@@PipeDoctor hi Mikey. If u know an IT person they can easily find the MAC addresses of the units currently online on the home wifi network and then use that list to eliminate the ones showing on the Honeywell web portal. I had to do the same. I had one for a friend go belly up and he threw it out. He had 4 online and 5 listed in the portal. I went to his home router and found the MAC and IP addresses of the 4 units online, copied those MAC addresses down and went to the Honeywell portal and deleted the one I didn’t copy down. Was a 30 minute process to get the info, verify against devices online, then look in the Honeywell list and delete.

Of course Honeywell wants you to set the thermostat to 69 degrees. I mean who wouldn’t, greatest number of all time. 😂😂

I hate any thermostat where you need to take a class to figure it out. Just give me a plain Jane digital thermostat with only 2 readings (room temperature and set point temperature), put it at 70 and forgot about it.
