    Insightful video.
    Did you know, in the 1928 Olympics, Australian sculler Bobby Pearce stopped rowing to let a family of ducks pass? His opponent ended up with a 5 length lead. In the final 1,000 meters, Pearce pulled ahead by 30 seconds, not only winning the gold but setting a Games record.

    Russia is banned from the 2024 Olympic games in Paris France because of the war with Ukraine and Belarus is also banned from the 2024 Olympic games in Paris France for the same reason that banned Russia from Paris 2024 and the IOC ( International Olympic Committee ) isn't sure if Russia and Belarus will be banned for future Summer & Winter Olympic games.
    P.s. Russia and Belarus are able to compete as individuals at the moment.

    Indonesia banned from participating the games of 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games because Indonesia refused visas of Taiwan and Israel during the 1962 Asian Games
    In response of Indonesia's ban on Olympics, they established the counter-Olympics as Games of the New Emerging Forces or GANEFO and it was held in Indonesia in 1963 and Phnom Penh in 1966 before it was dissolved in 1970..Eventually after 1964,Indonesia returned the Olympics and still present until today with the Philippines

They still have a chance to compete for a medal which is an award. The IOC should be ashamed at allowing this. Same with Kuwait when they had an athlete win gold. If you’re gonna ban a country, ban the country fully but don’t go half in on that penalty. SMH

    Just FYI. A lot of American athletes take banned substances every day because they have prescription.. Simone Biles takes medicine for her ADHD that helps with concentrating (essentially gives her advantage). She won her 5 medals in Rio while she was taking banned drugs. The reason why she did so poorly in Tokyo was because Japan didn't allow her to bring those drugs with her. Serena Williams also had prescription and allowance to take some drugs that helped her win those grand slams a few years ago. There are also a lot athletes who claim they have asthma and that allows them to take other performance-enhancing drugs legally. Everybody cheats however they can. But hey, they ban Russia from the Olympics just because they don't like us after the Crimea. This is so hypocritical.

Even better, Court of Arbitration for Sport is constantly clearing and reinstating Russian athletes with their records and medals while more and more clean athletes, federations, even Paralympic teams, stadiums and coaches are getting banned by random sport federations and foreign anti-doping organizations (mostly Western, of course). Nothing interesting about simple politics. My bet that it will never stop until politics will be purged out for good from sport.

Also, Germany lost their eastern territories that are owned by Poland and the USSR, and Germany was split into 2 with the western sector under French, British and American control while the eastern sector under Soviet control. The same split happened in Berlin, and by 1949, West Germany (FRG) and East Germany (GDR) were formed.

    You missed the ban for Yugoslavia in 1992.
    We all were kept from watching probably the greatest basketball game of the 20th century, and probably of all time, between the USAs original Dream Team and the greatest team in "amateur" basketball at that time Yugoslavia.
    Americans would have probably won that anyways, but still it is too bad that "The game of the century" was never played.

      United States was the last country to use professional athletes in the Olympic Games. The US Olympic Committee was thinking about it ever since the basketball team lost to the then-Soviet Union in the 1972 Olympics from that conversional call which the team still haven't and won't pick up their silver medals.

    The Olympic committee decided to include Kosovo in 2016? What in the actual hell? They're about 25 years late on that one. And why would they let India participate in the middle of the games? Don't they know that it takes more than a day or two to prepare for the Olympics? Very interesting list.

    • @SoManyRandomRamblings
      @SoManyRandomRamblings 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the India one....some athletes were already competing just as independents, so they just changed their "label" not their effort nor involvement. Otherwise, since it was just changing the president of a committee and not a whole country that happened to allow them in, they might have been preparing for that possibility and been "staying warmed up" just in case. Besides which Olympic athletes practice EVERY day of the year regardless.

    • @edwardhuggins84
      @edwardhuggins84 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by "25 years late" Kosovo only become a independent nation in 2008 (14 years ago as of 2022) and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee on 9 December 2014. So the 2016 games marked the frist time they were at the Olympics as a independent nation. Which by the way they also won there frist ever gold medal.

  • @janbaldwin1189
    @janbaldwin1189 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    IOC says they are NOT political but almost everything they do is political. A country that systemically doped and covered up doping was technically banned but its athletes have continued to compete as if nothing happened. I don't care if they can't hear their national anthem or use their flag, they are there competing nonetheless and everybody knows which country they are from. RIDICULOUS - IMO.
