- A night alone in a remote cabin. One last evening in a secret, hidden tent. Lots of food, and great tips from the other side of the country.

Jay, another great video. You mentioned the channel is about winter camping, I have to disagree. I think it's about a guy getting out there and enjoying life and the great outdoors. I guy who is not afraid to admit he is learning and not an expert in all things. That has to be my favorite thing about your channel, you're real and showing us all you don't need to be an expert to get out and enjoy yourself. In this video and the meal in the tent you had me on board till you mentioned ketchup. LOL. Keep the videos coming.
Well said … love Jays honesty
Hello Jay,
I love your videos. Glad you can taste and smell.
That tree falling technique is only good on completely dead and smaller trees, if you try that on green trees especially cedars the tree can split from the bottom up and cause major injuries
Be very aware of kick back!
It would not work on giant cottonwoods.
Yep...I alway’s notch
Glad to see you're still getting out jay can't believe the thickness of the ice still! Looking stunning there again. Loving chucks lodge! That technique is superb felling the tree. Keep the videos coming mate always love your footage. 🪚
Thats so insane amazing true dude 😂
Jay, just before the 10:30 mark you are coming up the steps with your new end table. As you get off the steps something moves, not sure if it's the railing, steps or loft. Whatever it is needs fixed. Nothing should move like that.
I saw that too
Awesome video. I like the little table better with out the bark
Me too! Thanks for watching
One of the top outdoorsman TH-camrs by far. With less professional expertise. Easily got 1 million subscribers in no time.
Cheers Jay for link for Chuck channel, another fantastic edition thank you Jay 👏👍
chucks channel is awesome
I appreciate that you're not a know it all
You learn something new every video. You are a gracious learner and host
Thank you Venus
In the Maritimes we call that a “boiled dinner”. Very salty yet so good.
Another great video Jay. Many thanks.
HEY! Good morning Jay and thumbs UP!!
Don't feel bad about not catching any fish. I've been fishing since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Both of grandfathers took me fishing throughout my childhood and I continued fishing in my adult years and I'm now 67. I love fishing but alas fishing does not love me. I have always used a cane pole and worm bait and all I catch are mainly minnow size fish. If I remember correctly, the biggest thing that I ever caught was a turtle...lol. You'll make up for no fish in the winter, to catching boat loads this summer. I have faith in you Jay! Stay safe and looking forward to your next video.
Yes, the seasons are starting to change again! I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia and we actually hit 85 today. In APRIL!!!
Really enjoy your winter videos of the cabin and the tents! Stay safe my friend!
You should apply some linseed oil on your wooden log table to enhance the natural wood marking on the log. Glad you cover your head and shield your face.
Efficiency be darned, I love the glass in that tent stove!
It's a thing of beauty
Nice touch bringing Chuck in to demonstrate the technique for cutting trees. You both have great channels!
Mate, I used to have a log fire in Sydney Australia.... I had a Cast Iron kettle on the top for two reasons, to put back the moisture in the air as your lungs and skin need it and makes instant cuppas....blessings darling from Granny Linda in OZ 😊
Best firestarter for me is laundry lint from the dryer and some paper. I can get any fire started that way. The corned beef looks amazing
I do love lint for fires. I used to use it all the time. I should bring it back to the channel
I like the cabin way better than the tent. It's cozier, more secure, more comfortable.
That's great to hear. Thanks foe commenting Richard.
You're almost at 200k Jay!!!! I'm proud to be one of ur subs. You always make me feel like your subs opinions and feelings matter. Ty 4 that. I love just about all camping videos. I have some if notifications are working right, I never miss. I try to wait til I'm positive I can watch in quiet time. With yal I basically put a dnd til I'm finished watching the vid, lol. I also watch a few glamping vids from people in Korea. They cook up some foods that make ur mouth water🤣🤣😭🤣. Yal do brighten my day alot of times. You, whether it's tent or cabin. I love them all😊. Tyfs God bless you
Love this comment, Debbie. Thank you
@@jaylegere yw🙂🙃🙂
When my mum cooks cabbage, she slices it thin and adds salt, pepper and butter. Tastes delicious with corned Silverside and white sauce
Love to see you teamed up with Chuck
196,000 subscribers!!! WOW Jay!
Thank you again for sharing your adventures Jay. That tent is a beast!!
My sincere pleasure
Sorta sad when the winter season comes to an end. But there will be fun ahead at the cabin. Thanks for another Monday video to start my week. Take care until next time.
Morning Jay! Still very much enjoying your channel, and I'm also a long time viewer of Chucks channel as well!
I relate to your channel as I also bought a basically abandoned cabin myself a few years ago, and I have spent a lot of time improving it and making it my own dream come true. So when I watch you now it's like a very close reflection of what I have recently done, and still doing! It's amazing and worth the journey. I still get out once a year for an extended canvas wall tent hunting trip as well. I very much appreciate the effort you put into sharing all of this with us!
One tip I would like to share with you and other viewers on the tree cutting....only use that technique on trees that are mostly upright, and that you can easily push over. Large or otherwise leaning trees should have other felling techniques used. To qualify my advice, I was professionally school trained in forestry and safe chainsaw operation, and worked professionally in wood felling in previous years, plus still cut my own firewood and other felling needs. Blah blah blah, hahaha.
Anyway, I don't comment much, but wanted to let you know I really enjoy your content, Chucks content, and relating to everything you're doing! Much appreciated!
Jay from Nova Scotia
All you need is a Guinness and or a Jameson with that tent dinner.
Another classic edition
😁😁👍
I love watching you, Jay you’re just the best of everything you do and you’re learning as you go. You have a great personality and I love your smile. Thanks so much for sharing your journeys I enjoy each and everyone of them
Just what I needed. Thanks! My Grandad worked and lived in Labrador. He was all about dogsleds and writing/illustrating books on trees/documenting life. One of his illustrated books is used as a text book.
Hey this is the earliest I ever got here! Cheers 🍻
Beautiful video!
Love that you love ketchup in many of your dishes. I take a lot of ribbing for it. Yay to a fellow ketchup lover!😊
I love it!
Just goes to show you that folks will buy anything for a price. Great info and will be waiting to see puppy again.🇺🇸🐻
Another great video Jay
Thanks for promoting Chuck he's a great guy. 😊
Yeah the rbt is nice and warm. But the cabin is so nice. Plenty room to walk around. Nice learning tree felling Technics
Jay !!! .... always have a shovel with you !!!! lol
Ha. I know, I know.
Really enjoy watching your channel and as well chuck porters channel. Cheers
He's got a good channel for sure
Good stuff Jay. And I’ve been a subscriber from early on. Love your channel.
If you put the oil straight in the fuel tank of the saw make sure you at least half fill with petrol first. If the tank is empty there is a good chance the pure oil will go to the carb then you got problems.
This is a good tip. I had no idea. Thank you
Love your video Jay. That jigs dinner reminds me of home in NFLD.
Great video.
Glad to see you out and about.😄
I hate that the snow will soon be gone! Winter is my favorite time of year. Great video Jay, I really enjoyed watching!
That jigs dinner looked some good! I haven’t had one in a while but my mouth watered as you cooked it up! Love your videos, they remind me of my childhood growing up in Newfoundland and spending the weekends with my dad at the cabin!
I've been watching you for a couple years now. Really enjoy your videos!
Love a good jiggs dinner hash, love the cabin content, excited to see where you take that place!

Thanks for sharing CHUCK'S CHANNEL
Loved this video. Wow the ice is still so thick.
Hi Jay, I was told years ago by my Dad to always have a shovel......well sometimes I did not but lived through it. Great video as always! Take care, looking forward to your summer adventures and what is next for the cabin.
Great job getting the new helmet!😍🇨🇦
Always enjoy watching your videos Jay ! Looking forward to many more .. love the cabin👍👍
I just love this channel. Your laugh is infectuous! It makes my day!
Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the channel. Jay
great video Jay. Thanks for that bonus footage on cutting down the tree! Very interesting method. I'm not sure how it would work on a crooked tree if you need it to be straight or not.
Here's a tip for the side table for the rocking chair. If you place the stump near your wood stove for a week or two, it will dry out, heat up, and kill any bug eggs that are present in the frozen log.
I think I learned that from the channel, "Surviving Ringworm" another guy with a cabin in Northern Michigan. He's also got a real fun channel :)
Good morninh Jay and everyone happy Monday have a good week all 😊🙏🏾❤️
My day made that almost every Sunday.
👍👍👍 Thanks !!!😊
Another great video Jay! What I don’t understand is why so many views but not everyone clicks the like button!?! Come on you must like it if you watch it….why not click that button? 😊
Yeah ... why don't they? Ha. It's a grind, this youtube game. Thanks for supporting and commenting, Deb. Jay
Good Video, Well done.
Cheers 🍺🍺
I thought I recognized your accent but when you said "Giver" that was the icing on the cake. What are ya at?
This is it.
Entertaining and outstanding 👍
I love it when you show the Northern Lights! ❤ I love the ice fishing and the cabin, too!!
I think it would be entertaining to see what a strategically placed game cam(s) would produce! Beef brisket (what we called it anyway), my mother used to make that all the time! I didnt like the cabbage though lol! brought up some memories!
That’s why we call it fishin and not catchin Jay!! Lol
Jay another brilliant video me and the wife always look forward to watching your cabin grow keep it up we look forward to the next from from us in England
Good times Jay! I was out hiking yesterday in 75 degrees here in Michigan 😊
First time viewer here. I find you refreshingly authentic. You got a subscriber out of me.
Another great one Jay, love that little tent too , love to have the cash to get one lol.
I’m already subbed living vicariously through you
Great video Jay. Chuck has a great channel very knowledgeable in many things. Great felling tip. Your hash looked delist, mustard pickles are a nice addition too. Some people call that meal “ Cuddins” meaning what you couldn’t eat yesterday you eat today lol
Awesome. Never heard of cuddins.
Fantastic protip will try
Interesting video.
Good video man
That cutting method works good for Chuck and the rest of the boys back east, due to the short trees, try that with the trees we got out west and ya ending up with a pinched bar and a dangerous situation
You know how to live lol. Love your videos. Keep it up.
keep going!!!! ILOVE your videos
Thank you! Will do!
Love your channel. I am subscribed
Yeah that tree method good and all until you get a gust of wind 😮
Subscribed with alerts. I look forward to Monday's Jay :) (and waves from Alberta)
Thanks for subbing!
