The most broken of all will tell you watching a video of this, rather than endeavoring to experience this human birthright joy of sustaining in harmony with nature yourself. Folks mandating tv reality for all are the most harmful entities to the spirit of human life. Within reason and while not harming another, refuse to let watching others live a life possible for you too be your ultimate satisfaction.

Jerry is the type of old-timer you gotta let him keep going. because that's all he knows. Seems very Knowledgeable. I know you've said he isn't your biological dad but he's taking the time to teach you and spend time with you. Never take that for granted. I've learned almost everything I know from my step father

You've talked about Jerry a bunch, so it was really great to see you spend time with him and to see the man. He's every bit of what I expected. Having his friend and him do their usual things, and to include and teach you, was great to see. I'm glad you had that time together.

The freshest air I have ever, and probably will ever, experienced was the two weeks I spent on our honeymoon in Churchill Falls. Had a headache for damn near three days because of it lol. It saddens me that my in-laws have since moved to Bay Roberts and that I may never experience such quiet and peacefulness again. I would love nothing more than for my wife to watch this video with me, but I also know that it will make her extremely homesick.

Sausages, potatoes, eggs and toast.....love it. I could learn to love the outdoor lifestyle enjoyed by Canadians. A dash of Southern Comfort in the tea would work for me! The wood is softer from the edge of the bark then it is in the center of those rounds for splitting. Something I learned from experience.

When splitting bigger chunks of wood, I find that taking a slab or two off the outer edge makes the rest of it split easier. Aim three to four inches in from the bark and go for it. One or two slabs off the edge and then go down the middle. I was taught that by an old timer who told me that trick would relieve the pressure inside the block of wood and make the job easier on the body. 30 years later, I still use that trick and it works great for me.

There is nothing like experience to educate oneself about a topic and these people who are close to the land really know how to be comfortable on the land. They have a vast foundation of experience. Placing fir boughs on the ground inside your tent is one example of their experience and how to make yourself comfortable while out on the land.

What an awesome change of pace. Different enough to notice the subtleties, but similar enough to recognize the themes. Lots of lessons to be learned just by watching. That fish has my mouth watering now. Lol.
Jerry sure knows a thing or two about using a rope. I'll bet those ties have been used for over a decade without ever feeling the edge of a knife. As a youngster I was taught you should never cut a rope and it was obvious to me that Jerry learned at the same school and took the lessons to heart. Reminds me of my Dad's work from years ago.
