    The 21 Ultra is an awesome phone and that processor is something else. I made a really stupid mistake on my second to last video. I was shooting the local mountains in a 21:9 aspect ratio with my Note Ultra using a gimbal and I forgot to turn off the internal ois. So the footage was a little choppy. I should have went back and done some reshoots but I just got a new job and didn't have the time. I'll never make that mistake again. Gr8 vid. 🎥

    good video Don Michael, but Samsung at no time advertises or puts strategy of a super 8k beast, only gives you as an option, even specifies that you can only do basic, more focus that you can take pictures of 33 mpx.

    Wow,finally someone talking the 10bit.I enjoyed your review very much!! I was disappointed too that 10bits is only for 30fps.And not on 3x and 10x lenses. Maybe that could be upgraded? Exynos has the 10bit in Filmic pro, but only the UW and Wide lens.I like the Director mode, but: no 4K there. And I agree, there really should be an indicator when you are in 10bit mode. I agree with the Sony argument you make, the pro app is really well made and I loved the name of the three lenses in photographers language, in mm...tried to love the Xperia5ii, if they would offer specific ND filters, I would have kept it.Thanks for reporting add ons and helpers to this little beast, very appreciated!

    From a guy who knows Jack shit about cameras I find my ultra incredible. Just wish the 108mb mode was better (I prefer the 12mb mode in photo quality) and I wish they increased the 8k framerate

    • @Aronsson007
      @Aronsson007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      in good lighting and not too difficult HDR situations, the 108mp mode takes superb quality photos, which makes sense, that what its made for. but for basically any other situation, low light and especially HDR, the 12mp mode is what you want, thats when pixelbinning takes place and you get amazing HDR and lowlight performace. its made to be this way. when you dont need HDR and youre in good lighting then youre better off with the 108mp photo, you will get insane detail.

      @AlarThunder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If u want great photos, ultrawide, night mode and great zoom, get the s21 ultra, but if u want good videos and portrait, get iphone. I would recommend u to get their small brother iohone 12 or the s21, which are the same phones of their flagship one, it just have all the features at the lower end. So get s21 for photos, ultrawide, zoom and night mode and iphone for video and potrait. Now portrait mode is a little bit confusing. On the ultra its trash for that price but the s21 is good. And in only some cases the s21 takes a slightly better portrait than the iPhone 12. Also there are many other factors like processor, screen, battery and few other things. If u want to know all about that I may tell u if u say yes.

    • @michaliskossyfas5862
      @michaliskossyfas5862 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlarThunder as you said, iPhone has better portraits and video and Samsung has better ultrawide and zoom (at least long range zoom). But it absolutely doesn't have better photos or Night mode, they're pretty much equal when it comes to that (even though in theory Samsung should have crushed Apple with their much larger sensor). Both take exceptional photos and have different advantages.

    • @AlarThunder
      @AlarThunder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaliskossyfas5862 Samsung really has a better quality of photos and night shots. If u use it in real life and then compare it to the phones u will really see the difference. U may not see the difference but almost everyone sees it. And the night mode too, if u see any reviews on youtube, that guy will tell u the same thing, photos and night mode are excellent in Samsung. And yes an average person will not notice the difference.

    Hello Michael. I purchased the beastgrip cage but because of the S21 Ultra bulky camera the phone does not perfectly aligns with the cage. I have mounted the plate B (one of the accessory that comes with the cage) designed for large camera bumps like the S21 Ultra but same results. The phone cannot be positioned flush against the base of the Beastgrip Pro. Have you experienced that? Any feedback before I return the cage? Thank you.

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was at a very slight angle because of the bump but I never found it to affect the secure ness of the phone in the cage if that’s your worry

    • @il_Presepe
      @il_Presepe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@initialfocus Hello Michael. Thank you for your reply. I am mostly concerned that the S21 lens are at a slight angle therefore not "parallel" to the beastgrip lens I will be attaching to the cage (I am waiting for the 1.33 lens). Update: As I was replying you , I re-tested the configuration (S21>Bcage) but this time I left the S21 plastic cover on. That has fully solved the issue of the "slight angle". The S21 is now perfectly parallel to the cage (no irregular spaces between the S21 lens and the cage rub lens opening). Hope this can help anyone who had or might experience the same issue. Again, thank you for your reply and for the S21 review.

      @@il_Presepe Glad I came across your comment. I have been debating purchasing a beastgrip cage. So many reviews I came across were focused on iPhone. What is your overall experience using the beastgrip cage on the s21 ultra? Would you recommend?

    • @il_Presepe
      @il_Presepe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stardewhillbully I have not been using the beastgrip cage to give an honest opinion about it's performance. What I can tell you is that it does have a good grip on the bulky and heavy phone like the s21 and i believe it is a great tool if you film freehand with it. If you decide to attach a 1.33 lens keep in mind that your will truly need to hold the cage/phone as steady as possible while filming otherwise the image will appear quite distorted. I experienced this using the Moment case and a 1.33 lens filming freehand. I assume it is the same with the beastgrip cage. To avoid this issue I use the Moment case with a Gimbal but of course you won't be able to do that with the beastgrip. Hope this helps.

    Hi Michael, I've had this phone for about a year now and I still can't find the best settings for shooting action sports, mostly on tracking/follow shots. I already have everything I can get my hands on from filters, lenses, anmorphics, cine lenses, beastgrip cages, gimball, etc., but I don't feel like the stabilization is good enough. Maybe it's because I don't quite understand the relationship between fps/8k/4k/iso/speed, etc?
    I would love to see a video of this type of filming.

    Hey Michael, just wondering about the autofocusing on the stock app on S21 Ultra, may I know how is it compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max? Because the pro max has that smooth focus transitioning from object to an object, but just like my Z Fold 2, or my previous experience with Note20 Ultra and etc, they always has that robotic transitioning if you know what I mean. Also loved to see your experience of S21 Ultra in this video. Thanks!

      If you know how to handle manual control on full size camera, buying camera could be a "good" option. Otherwise, DO NOT buy camera, seriously I meant it because if you do not understand manual control on camera, it could be overwhelming for you to handle, which made the whole experience unenjoyable.
      Instead buy phone with quality camera, no need for expensive phones either. Many midrange phones (or even better last year flagship phones) now hav pretty capable camera such as Pixel 4a & iPhone SE. But it seems you prioritize video for social media use, so I would say actually iPhone made much more sense for 2 huge reasons:
      1) iPhone video consistently ranked among the best
      2) Social media apps (especially Instagram) works and best optimized on iPhone
      Don't worry, I don't even use iPhone. So, you can trust my advice. Hope this helps, cheers :D

    Does beast grip have a telephoto lens that can work in conjunction with the built-in 10x optical lens? I.E. a 2x or 3x telephoto that can double or triple the stock zoom level? Just curious. I've tried a few clip on lenses (putting them over the 10x telephoto lens) but in each instance the image quality was reduced quite badly. Basically unusable.

    A forest is the worst possible location for showing what the camera can do. Video compression will always struggle the most when there is too much info in the frame changing, an urban area would have been actually useful.

    I've just got the S21 Ultra and use the pro mode camera for the Raw output. So far it's disappointing, chromatic aberrations, fringing, moire, and just plain noise are all over when using Lightroom. Actually none of the sliders work, so there is no support from this, or any other Raw converting software that I know of. So compared to my S10 the S10 images through Lr look much better than the S21 Ultra.

    Low-key negative perspective of this product (knowing it's just a phone) but overall, I enjoyed another perspective on the s21 ultra. I own one and It's an amazing phone overall. Surely it's not a dslr camera but probably the closest thing going at the moment. Still, I really do appreciate this video.
