    Hey Brent, let me ask you something bud. I was experimenting with this phone last night. I adjusted settings and took multiple pictures. I'm stating to believe this phone has some kind of built or software or CGI. I took multiple pictures of the sky and they came out amazing after some tweaking. I came inside and wanted to see how well this performed in the dark inside. I took pictures inside my house. This is where things got a little strange. After 3 or 4 pictures I took inside after zooming in to look at the details I could see what looked like artificial stars in every photo. Give it a shot if you haven't already. I'm hoping some one can shed some light on this because as of right now it's kind of a disappointing feeling.

    • @Aronsson007
      @Aronsson007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm probably very similar. the 50mp has a pixelsize of 1.2µm, while the 108mp has 0.8µm however its pixelbinning 9 pixels, so effectively you get 2.4µm pixels for a 12mp photo. same for 50mp if they pixelbin 4 pixels, becoming same 2.4µm pixelsize but at a 12,5mp photo

    I have an opportunity to shoot the launch of SpaceX Falcon in the next few days. This s21 Ultra is new to me and I could really use your expertise in making this a phenomenal shot. Launch is pre-dawn (06:11) with vantage point to the West of pad, making the sunrise sky as the backdrop...
    Nice huh? Throw me a few suggestions as to settings and I'd be

    • @michaelbrown5044
      @michaelbrown5044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesomely appreciative. Thanks Brent

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh that sounds cool! Also sounds kind of challenging though. Shooting east at sunrise can definitely make for a very dynamic scene, which is sometimes hard to capture right. Then adding a glowing bright streak through the scene. If you're not comfortable with pro mode and all the settings and options, then I'd definitely just stick to auto mode, and make sure your hdr option is on. The phones do a surprisingly good job with it. Depending on how light it is outside though, if it's not that light, your phone may try to jack up your iso a bit, which you won't want. Night mode would normally work really well in that case, but you'll have a fast, bright moving object going through your shot, which could make it come out a bit weird looking because of how it blends images together in night mode. If you have some setup time, and you want something cool, like a long exposure, then you could get your phone on the tripod, go into pro mode (probably even with an ND filter, cause you might want a shot that's a few sec long). It would be like shooting any other long exposure, just watch your highlights, if the rocket is too bright it will be blown out.

It sounds like you still have too much light pollution, whether it's from nearby cities or the moon, something is causing your image to be very over-exposed with those settings. There's literally no difference between focusing on the cactus or the stars because the phone has such a small sensor the depth of field is non existent

    The take away from this video is the owner of S20 doesn't need to upgrade to S21, just enjoy it. (The international version has 2 issues: focus issues and Exynos 990 being worse performing processor)

      I'm generally not a fan of the 108mp on the phones, especially since it's only in auto mode, and it tends to introduce more noise. But maybe I'll give it a go for a future video.

    I am going into this hopeful. I went from an s9 to an s21 ultra. So far I hate this phone. The pictures are awful compared to the s9. It seems to me to just be a vanity enhanced selfie camera. Zoom is great but who wants out of focus super zoom pictures. Hope you teach me the ways of the s21 cause I am not thrilled.
