The Yoshi stampede from the Super Smash Bros. Melee intro though
5:36 with a lot of the other islands being from their own game series, I could see this island being Sarasaland (Daisy's kingdom from Super Mario Land on the Game Boy). Would be cool to see it revisited after all this time, with Movie-level quality no less.
If not, theres always Super Mario Bros 2 if its ever decided.

The wormhole at 8:27 could also be a reference to the 1986 anime movie where the Warp Pipe that took the Bros to the Mushroom Kingdom was portrayed the same way. With all the obscure references we've seen so far in these trailers, I wouldn't be surprised if they went _that_ far with it.

@@Animebryan2 I just watched again frame by frame. It's hard to decide, if the other 2 are green or blue depending on the lighting.
One would be behind the standing pink and another one is leaving to the left behind the stone in front of another pink.
But these could also be dark blue in this yellow light.
The first trailer was good but felt a tad underwhelming considering the year of radio-silence. This new trailer was everything I wanted!!!

No, you're right. The Frying Pan was Peach's ultimate weapon in SMRPG, which was referenced later in the Smash Bros. series. It's a shame these guys overlooked that reference.
The Smash Ultimate references and the fact that multiple "galaxies" are at stake might hint on an expanded Nintendo Animation Universe.

The frying pan could also be a reference to Super Mario RPG, in which Peach (then still called Toadstool) wielded a frying pan as a weapon.

As much as the movie looks to be incredible based on the visual I can't help but feel disappointed that Nintendo seems to be doing what every other film franchise does, relatively lite on plot, character development, and emotional struggle to bring depth of character and instead focuses on filling most of the movie with fan service, easter eggs, the kinds of things that capitalize on cheap thrills and hollow nostalgia. It smacks of unoriginality.

A lot of TH-camrs reference the Frying pan from Smash. But Yet I wait here one reference it was first used in Mario RPG
SInce super mario odyssey's Mushroom Castle is inspired by Paper Mario 64 and SM64 you could also point towards those 2 games I suppose ^^"
Also that statue pose is reminiscent of one of the Bowser trophies you can find in Melee
