Great segment. I flied Van to Vic return twice a week for 2 years and HeliJet is the only way to do it. No hassles that come with driving/ferries or using YVR and YYJ. Always on time, great customer service, the best pilots and awesome aircraft. See you next week Michael.
Hi Mike, my wife and I went to the Pendray this spring and we throughly enjoyed it, although your take on “tea” was unique! Cheers. I don’t know where you’re going next, but I guarantee I be there with you.
Helicopter flying is awesome. I had the chance to do it in Maui and several times on New York Helicopters between airports. Yes they are loud but the views are sensational. Thanks Mike - again
Michael it’s great to see you fly over our family home in Stanleypark. Remember your time looking after our home in the park. You did a wonderful job looking after our home. Looking forward to seeing you soon. David and Normande
Traditionally high tea was a Scottish early dinner. Served between 4 and 6 and with bread, a cooked substantial meal , for example fish and chips and sausages and mashed potatoes, and of course tea and a cake afterwards. This is different to afternoon tea, with is usually cakes and sandwiches and scones. I remember having high tea in the 1970s but never seen it being served since. Hope you enjoyed it. 😄😄
Another awesome video. Well done as usual. Although I couldn't tell if you liked the cucumber sandwich or not. 🤣 thank you for sharing your adventures and your positive vibes.
Such a cool video Mike 🤓 can’t believe that Helijet helicopter fits 14 people 🤩 I would love to travel to Victoria this way so much faster than the ⛴ 😂
Supporting you as always Mike. Don’t like to sound too critical, however are you planning on travelling further from Canada again? That was our favourite content from your channel and what drew us in
Always a great video. It would of been nice to know the cost of an average flight. I also wanted to mention I tried the laundry sheets, great stuff. Thank you 😊
@@DownieLive I try to use as little plastic as possible. I even use bamboo toothbrushes and they work great. When I was very young my grandmother use to wrap presents in cloth flour bags. So I made my own and have used the same bags for the last 35 years. There's so many things people buy just to throw away and it's shameful!
Taking "Afternoon Tea" is one of my favourite things to do as a little luxury - and this restaurant looks lovely and full of character - and the menu looks pretty nice as well. Vancouver's already on the 'one day I'll get to visit' list, so I guess taking a helicopter across to get cute finger sandwiches is now on the list as well. As an aside - was this maybe filmed in November? ;|D
@@DownieLive onto ep 4 of the trip across Canada. Yours and wills videos are my favorite train videos you both got me hyped for my trip from Portland to Chicago to Cleveland to Toledo to Columbus Ohio on august
MIKE. A Super Cool idea for a DownieLive Video. Love it !! Helijet really are great corporate neighbours and work hard for us regular folks, The view from up there is so breath taking. I enjoyed the tour and the behind the scenes Helijet hanger Pre-Flight stuff bigtime !!! LIKED and SUBSCRIBED
Your helicopter ride from Vancouver to Victoria for high tea looked awesome! I have fear of flying but seeing how safe the pilots are before take-off eased my mind. I would love to do this trip one day!
So glad you came to visit us again in Victoria. As a long time resident, though, I have to say that the only time I have been to high tea is when visiting with friends from out of town - LOL!
Stumbled apon your video about taking your mum to Utah. And loved it! Now, just going through all your vids because I want to go across country via train myself. Except from California to New York. I want to do it for 30 days. That way I can get off and take pictures and enjoy the different places in the country. But, I also like you're going to Alaska! Which is a place I want to visit as well. I love winter and that's on my bucket list. Oh and I have 2 pair of Vessi shoes!!! So, that was a nice surprise to learn of them being a sponsor of the video. Just bonuses everywhere for me! :D
You never cease to amaze me with the variety you pack into your videos. Those Vessi sneakers look really cool and I'd love to see you redo that walk around the shoreline of Vancouver again in these. Wonder if you'll have blisters and more this time. You picked a great weather day (not) for the helicopter flight but perhaps the rainy atmosphere provided a real test to the integrity of the vehicles and their operators. High tea looks great and the venue - wow! Reminded me of an old mansion in Hobart, Tasmania, that was operating as a motel during the 1980's. On that occasion I was travelling with an English visitor and he was suitably impressed. Now, Mr.Downie, I do hope you worked off all those calories when you got back to Vancouver. Looking forward to the next surprise you have for us followers. Oh! Does it have something to do with Orca Whales? You let the cat out of the bag during this clip. Anyway, enough for this Aussie senior citizen for this week. Cheers!
Just flew harbour air doing the same thing and the convenience of fast, downtown to downtown centres of BC is a great option vs the slow, out of city ferries. Great vid as always - keep 'em coming!
What better place for High Tea than in a Victorian house in Victoria? The helicopter ride looked very smooth. Another commentor noted the ride is $300 each way, a bit steep, but a bargain compared to $700 one way from Manhattan to the Hamptons.
I've stopped in Victoria many times (a port on the Alaskan cruises) and always enjoyed the place. The information gleaned from the helicopter ride is certainly worthwhile and good for both cities. Thanks, Mike!
If I come to find out that you're related to the Great Gord Downie. I wouldn't be surprised at all. He was an uplifting figure while also bringing attention to the plight as well as the greater identity of the first Nations people of Canada. It's admirable and generally cool how you've done a lot for them (in the way you go about doing it.)
Well yes back in the 1970s new York Los Angeles and San Francisco all had helicopter airlines now all gone except three Hong Kong sky shuttle , Copterline finland and helijet canada
LoL....a pilsner beer in a China teacup ! The helijet looked a cool way to travel. I still haven't plucked up the courage to ride in a helicopter yet, but I am hoping to......one day ! 😄
I've flown on a helicopter airline in Nepal before. It was an old Mil Mi8. Extremely loud, very bumpy, and there was all sorts down the middle of the aircraft, including some chickens in a coop. On the return flight, it was a load of oranges.
I have always wanted to do the Helijet to Victoria! I am definitely going to make this a goal of mine......not getting any younger so need to do it soon! Perhaps I'll try for a sunny day, thank you! Lol. Love afternoon high tea! I have a cousin in Victoria so I'm sure she will know where to go! Oh and I've been meaning to buy some Vessi's so this might be a good time with the $25 off code! Thank you Mike!
Hi Michael it’s great to see you fly over our family home in Stanleypark. Remember your time looking after our home in the park. You did a wonderful job looking after our home. Looking forward to seeing you soon. David and Normande.
Through my travels I’ve taken several helicopters. Two of the most memorable (but definitely NOT cheap) were … (1) on the Hawaiian island of Kauai … which is really the only way to see the Na Pali Coast and considering 3/4 of the island is inaccessible by car. Jet copter with stereo headphones playing Bach sonatas and drop dead gorgeous scenery as you hover over waterfalls and shear mountains/cliffs and (2) the Grand Canyon, Arizona … landed with special permission BELOW the Canyon rim on Native tribal land for a champagne wicker hamper lunch (we didn’t leave so much as a sliver behind as to respect/protect the land). Both were AWESOME and I highly recommended but bring your bank account because neither are cheap. 😉👍🏻
Much like the seaplane airline in Vancouver, I'm so used to the helicopters downtown that it didn't occur to me that it might be a bit unusual to have an airline like that.
Thanks for the discount code for a pair of Vessi. I bought a pair and I really love wearing them. Thank you very much for introducing me to this awesome shoe company. I might get another pair. I love how light and comfortable they are.
Love Victoria! It is the closest big city to where I live in Port Angeles, WA being only 20 mile ferry ride away across the water. Seattle is 60 miles but a much longer trip involving lots of expensive gas and an expensive ferry.
Helijet is a pretty cool operation but if I had the choice I’d take the Harbour Air seaplane service. It’s generally not as expensive (though hardly cheap) and taking off and landing on water is even more fun than rotary wing departure and arrivals. The seaplane base in Victoria is better located too.
Great posting! I alway like your subjects and adventures! I have only been in one helicopter and that was only for a very few minutes as it was not a pleasant experience, some of the motions were comfortable. Thanks for posting!
Thanks again Vessi! Use my code DOWNIE for $25 off each pair of your Vessi shoes! Free shipping to CA, US, AUS, NZ, JP, TW, KR, SGP.

Here in Cornwall we have a regular helicopter service between Penzance ( as in the pirates of) to the Isles of Scilly almost 30 miles away.
Nice new agusta aw 139 out there operating retired the old s 61 they were using
Another Saturday, Another exciting video by Michael Downie which is always great fun!
The views between Vancouver and Victoria are very nice. Never used Helijet but took the seaplane instead.

High tea without the tea 😂😂😂
We spent 4 hrs in Victoria and went to Bucharest gardens. Absolutely loved it.
I’ve never flown over to Victoria, but I’ve taken the ferry and ( back in the day), a hydrofoil.
Thank you Mike for another wonderful video.
Michael Downie on a scooter is LITERALLY one of the cutest things I’ve seen.
Vessi sounds like you would definitely need in an area that deals with the monsoons.
Or in Illinois, where we get rainy seasons then amazingly hot summers.
