It does not matter where your bag is stowed away because you don't need it during the flight. Also if you are a cool headed person who entered last, you are also the sensible person who disembarks last. Most people stand up the moment the plane touches the ground. They then spend the next 20 minutes fighting each other on the isle.
Once they are done fighting, and they dash for the 30 minutes of customs and baggage hunting, your overhead luggage will be alone and easy to retrieve.
If you time it correctly you will arrive at the luggage carousel just as the luggage is being loaded. Your fellow passengers will have arrived 20 minutes before you to intensily stare at an empty carousel.
By this time they are usually frustrated and this is when I strike: I hustle, jostle and push to the taxi rank and I'm usually first.
Peoples doesn't have the decency to only just use the overhead compartment above their assign seat.
I disagree about waiting last board. Since baggage is being an extra charge, a lot of passengers are abusing the carry on baggage. The overhead compartments are jammed full. When you get to your seat, you will find your overhead full.
Then the attendant will put your carry on wherever they can find space. It can easily be 5 or more rows away. It's a real pain to retrieve items during flight and when deplaning. This has happened to us many times.
Totally agree. If it has 4 wheels and you cannot carry it, it's NOT a carry-on!!
Totally agree on this! Happened to me pre-pandemic....was seated in the middle (A320) and my carry on with wheels was placed in the rear....:(
AND I experienced that people on the waiting list will not fly if they are boarding last
Please don't board last.
1. You may not get overhead compartments and have to check in your bags
2. There will be those people who put their "lap child" on a seat. Like Southwest, you don't have a specific seat number. It's basically like a bus and when nobody wanted to inform that their child as a lap child, you're SOL.
3. They may close the door and you will not realize it and they are not willing to open the gate door open for you.

as a previous flight attendant, I don’t recommend purposely boarding last. it a bit frustrating bc the passengers (more times than less) end up not having space for their baggage. then they’ll get upset bc they paid to have a carry on and possibly have to check it in…which can lead to potential problems
They could just allow it to be checked for free

As others have commented- good luck with boarding last if you want to use the overhead luggage compartment. If you fly a lot, you usually have some form of early boarding- use it.
Naaah. Here's what I do:
Look around and check to see that nobody's looking at me because they're all settling in for a long haul. Then I remove someone's carry on from the overhead compartment, put mine in its place, and put theirs two rows behind in roughly the same spot (or wherever). Bingo, I'm good. 🐵

I am not a regular flyer in fact my UK passport expired during the Pandemic.
A while back I was on an internal 🇺🇸 US flight and was amazed to see three girls with seats allocated towards the back. They stowed luggage in the first overhead as they boarded and left those boarding later with no available space.

Over head compartments should only be allowed for the assigned seat. Watching people take on a laptop, a carry-on, and a knapsack is wrong. Then when you get to your seat the over head compartment is filled with their crap.
They is totally misleading. As a former flight attendant I always had issues with late boarders. 100% of the time in a full flight - there is no more room for their carryon on overhead bins. This results in me having to check they bags or prevent them from stashing their bags in bins reserve for crew bags. Who ever thinks there are benefits of boarding last have never flown on full fights.
Its more of the plane's problem. Not the passenger. It wouldnt matter who is the late passenger if theres no more space for storage of baggages.
Ever since the greedy airlines started charging for a second luggage the overhead bins are nightmares!

I remember my first international overnight flight of 15hrs. I was half asleep in the exit row and I saw a flight attendant open this small door and go inside. She never came out...then another one went inside..then another...I thought I was dreaming LOL..Then later I learned about the space underneath the plane where the crew can sleep.
😂. At least now you know so you can feel safer on those long haul flights knowing they do have extra crew and a sleeping area

Yes, I have worked as a flight attendant and those small bunks in the hold are a welcome break area. Spaces are tight, but being able to lay down for a little bit is nice
The problem with boarding last is you get NO overhead bin space. Ever since airlines started charging for baggage, people board planes with MANY bags and take up a crazy amount of overhead bin space.
I did this by accident once waiting for a connecting flight in Germany. I fell asleep in the waiting area, and woke up to the airline assistants calling last call over the speaker... woke up and literally rushed on, last one boarded and it was the easiest and fastest seating ever.
Agree, boarding last unless you are business or first class is not a good idea. You probably won’t find any room in the over head locker near your seat.
not a problem for me.standing in line is problem though.going last means that most are already placed their overhead baggage so that I don't have to wait for them
I appreciate everyone who said boarding last often means no space for a carry-on. I travel with a bag small enough to fit under the seat in front of me. If I need anything desperately while away from home, there are thrift stores. Happy travels!

I usually don't have large carry on, so I usually board last unless I'm on Southwest.
My family just walks unobstructed to our seats, sit down, and put our small bags under the seat. It is so much easier.
Boarding last is ok unless you fly on Southwest. They don’t have reserved seats.
While the crewrest is correctly described, maybe you'd want to mention that pilots ONLY go for sleep into those chambers whenever there are more than two pilots on board (this would be on long haul flights, for example). If the flight crew is composed of only two pilots, they'd never leave their workplace unattended. Since this video is aimed ad persons with no knowledge of the airline business, I think this is important to stress out!
Yes I’ve learnt that thee must always be two people inside the cockpit at all times in case of medical emergencies like a heart attack or mental health problems like suicidal thoughts. Both of these situations have occurred before on airlines and have resulted in massive loss of life.
Only 2 pilots because it’s a domestic flight or short international flight.
I think it's amazing that we can fly in the air after all these years. Kudos to the engineers for building airplanes.
However, there is just ONE SIMPLE thing I would like to see on the airplane..... labelled overhead bins by seat. For instance, if you sit in seat 20B, there will be a labelled section in bin "20B" No one else can take it!
Then passengers won't have that panic at the gate to board the plane like animals going to slaughter!
related to this. I would pay $20 extra to have someone load my carryon above my seat in advance. Nobody needs that anxiety ....lining up like cattle.
More than once I have removed a bag from the overhead and set it in the aisle and had a guy 30 rows back start yelling. Yes I know I am that asshole. There are 3 seats with 3 spots above.
@@FlounderVFW I guess the aircraft manufacturers didn't have 1 to 1 storage, however, maybe a reservation system would work much like the seats. First come first served. I would pay $5-10 to reserve my spot in overhead luggage to not deal with that mob of people fighting for their space.
..or airlines could go back to not charging for checked luggage, or at least charge a reasonable amount. $25/bag each direction is not reasonable. I usually fly southwest because of this. It's a lot less stressful if there isn't a cattle rush for overhead bins.
I usually sit in premium economy and bins are labeled “Premium Economy”. I’ve watched people ignore it and put their luggage there then continue down the plane. 😤
I disagree with the "boarding last" tip. Boarding last can also mean there's a good chance you won't find any space in any overhead compartment in the plane to keep your luggage in. I have had to jam my rucksack between my legs for the entire duration of the flight, on many flights. So boarding last is not always a smart thing to do.
You are spot on. Your luggage may have to be checked at the gate. Also I'm surprised you were able to keep your knapsack between your legs. Most carryons have to go underneath the seat in front of you.
Just remove the luggage that others have put in your overhead space...

I'm that one that prefers to board last. My bag will fit under the seat so I let everyone else jam on and stand and wait as each person struggles to put their luggage in the overhead bin. Then I board and head for the furthest seat in back because I'm not in a rush to deplane either and I relax while once again everyone jumps up and jams the aisle trying to exit. It would be different if I had a connecting flight or time constraints but as a rule it works for me.
Me too. I pack everything in my checkin luggage and just carry a small handbag.
I always board first and that gives me the opportunity to enjoy an extra glass of Dom Perignon before take off.
If you have a lot of time between connecting flights, have checked in your luggage, have only a small pack and have an aisle seat, shoot for last. It all depends on many factors, not just storage.
Nothing worse then another 40 minutes sitting on the tarmac before a long flight.
Boarding last only makes sense if you don't intend to use overhead bin space. If you're the last on board chances are they'll force you to gate check your roll aboard which then puts your bag at the mercy of baggage handling mishaps. While rare, birdstrikes have and can bring down modern passenger jets (UsAir 1549). Planes are EXCEEDINGLY dirty don't let ANYONE tell you differently and ask any commercial pilot or FA if you don't believe it.

I have been an aircraft maintenance technician for a while. Commercial airplanes are NASTY!!!! NASTY!!!!! All kinds of UGH in the carpet, people sneezing on the sidewalls, men missing the toilets and people doing God knows what in there.
@@jason60chev Yeah man, even before the pandemic I wouldn't be caught without some sort of sanitizer around my seat and in the toilets. Most people don't realize that planes only make money when they're flying so they're not taking great liberties to clean them in between.
I always board last.... but my carry on is always my little backpack which goes in between my feet in front of me. I prefer it there because it also has my valuables in it.
As someone who only brings one carry on bag that I put under my seat I can attest to boarding last. Why rush to sit in a cramped seat?
As far as waiting to board last, my experience has been that, although it's certainly less panicky (I detest people jostling for position in line to board a flight when we're all leaving at the same time regardless), I've had my carry-on placed somewhere else because many passengers abuse the carry-on protocol, or I've been asked to check my carry-on because there's no carry-on room left. If I have a window seat, I'll try to board relatively early to avoid having to climb over those passengers who have firmly established themselves in their aisle and mid-seats. I've also started choosing the seats near the front (for years I chose wing seats). That way, when I board after all the cattle have settled in, there's much less hassle.
Once, on an international flight, I thought I'd be smart and choose a seat across from the flight attendants' jump seats. What a mistake. It was across from a set of lavatories and the line-up was endless throughout the flight. People saw the large empty floor space in front of me as a staging area for the lavatories. They were walking on my feet and farting in my general direction with no apologies. So much for resting on a 7-hour flight.
Cleanliness - one of my airline captain friends has commented numerous times about the lack of hygiene amongst today's passengers. It's unfortunate but a valid point that flights are relatively inexpensive compared to, say, 20 or 30 years ago. Again unfortunate to point out that these cheap fares attract a different passenger. Whereas, years ago the typical passenger was relatively affluent (or travelling on business), these days people travel much more for pleasure and their income level is not a limiting factor. He tells me of finding dirty diapers in map pockets and more equally disgusting behavior like simply dropping their trash on the floor. I suspect these folks would be the ones that also see nothing wrong with tossing their garbage out the car window. People with their shoes off and hanging their smelly feet over the seats in front of them. Etc.
Try a foreign carrier on those overseas flights. You'll see less bare feet and more manners and courtesy. It is, after all, a public conveyance when you fly domestic, and that often means the lowest common denominator when it comes to behavior. Stuffing mostly overweight people very small seats in an aluminum tube at 40,000 feet doesn't help.

I was recently on a plane that was struck by lightning. We most definitely felt and heard it. As it hit near my window seat, I also saw it. While we did not crash, there was some damage that required us to return to the airport and having to be rebooked on other flights.
That mesh protection mentioned in the video sounds like a Faraday cage to me, which does protect one by re-channeling much of the charge around the plane. Thanks for sharing the story.
@@costrio most aircraft parts also have “bonding wires” installed onto the substructure in order to [re]route static and current generated by a lightning strike. Some windscreens also have lightening strips to do a similar job as the bonding wires. These are some of the ways lightening and static are mitigated in flight.😁

Regarding the oxygen masks, the comment was funny when it said "you're in a perfectly pressurized cabin". Well, if the oxygen masks are down and the pilot is diving, you likely aren't.

My tip is about getting off the plane. It always baffles me that, as soon as the seatbelt sign is switched off on landing, most of the passengers get up almost instantly and grab their overhead bags. Why? they end up standing uncomfortably cramped in the aisle for anything from 5 to 20 minutes before you'll actually get to disembark and, even then, you'll be waiting ages at the baggage reclaim. As a frequent flyer, take my advice. When the seatbelt sign goes out, sit there, relax, wait until the last few passengers are departing the plane and then get up, in the peace, quiet and calm of a now near empty plane, get your bags without the crush of everyone else around you doing the same, walk down the cabin normally, instead of that shuffle of a slow moving queue and you'll still get to the baggage reclaim before your bags do with a shorter wait at the reclaim.
Yup, the old saying "hurry up and wait" applies big time when disembarking.
I am always the last to deplane. I like to avoid chaos and all of us usually end up at baggage collection at the same time.

I board early if I have a window seat and late if I have an aisle seat. Whatever causes the least amount of hassle for the other peeps in my row.
I don’t understand why everyone is complaining about boarding last?? I always board last. I always carry on a small backpack that will fit under the seat if there is no room in the overhead. I’ve never had a problem boarding last.
That mesh wire you're talking about in the beginning is called a Faraday cage, you're welcome.
I’ve flown many thousands of miles over many years and I have come to the side that boarding first is best. Yes you have to wait in the line, that’s true. But you’ll have a no place to put your bag except under your feet. If you’re 6 foot two, the more room you have for the feet, the better off you are.
I dont do carry on bags, so boarding last works for me.
Pre covid, I flea apparently on a puddle jumper. 800km as the crow flies.
The air jet nozzle above my seat, had viscous slime leaking downward. And I used the air sickness bag to capture and squeeze an Arachnid on my shoulder.

Boarding last means you have the greatest chance of your carryon item being stowed below because all of the overhead bins are full. If you have a connecting flight you are unable to access your belongings during layover, at final destination you have to go to luggage claim rather than moving on.
Exactly what happened to me and my husband
I was taking a flight to Mexico City from Chicago with a connecting flight through Atlanta. I was assured my luggage was checked through to the next airline/flight. There were super long lines through the TSA checkpoints, and just when I was the third person away from the TSA x-ray scanners, I learned that I was supposed to have collected my bag and hand carry it to the next airline's baggage check in counter. Guess what? I had to pull out of line, walk back to where the previous flight's bags were stashed, and get back in the TSA waiting line. By the time I cleared that, my connecting flight was gone.

@@TheSjuris Agreed, though it was a discounted round trip fare. It all started with a bang. The Chicago flight was supposed to leave Chicago around 6:00 a.m., Dallas bound, then it was delayed, then it was cancelled. The 'hepful' Chicago ticket agent found a flight through Georgia instead, but she forgot the 2 hour time difference.

It is. What is claimed in the video is completely wrong. Lights are only dimmed on red eye-overnight flights.
They should board rear most seats first, then work the way towards the front. This way, nobody is impeded by the person putting up their luggages, as with the current boarding system in alll airlines.

I almost always board last, for reasons stated plus it’s my last few minutes of freedom before being stuffed in a tin can. I rarely have carry on luggage so overhead storage is not a problem.

If I may, I would like to share a suggestion I have never seen offered before... I have flown over 5 Million Miles and I believe I'm the only frequent flyer who does this (for any long haul flight)... When you pack, bring along a pillow case! If you like to rest your head (in a window seat) and you have also brought with you any kind of coat or jacket, put the jacket in the pillow case and... Voila... you have a much more comfortable "pillow"... And when you get to your destination your pillow case can be used to distinguish any used clothing (placing worn socks, etc inside the pillow case) from fresh clothing... Hope this idea might help make someone's flight just a little more tolerable?
My secret for nowadays cheaper flight booking is don’t confirm a seat if you are forced to select a bad seat during booking. Wait at the gate and then you may get better seat or upgraded roomy seat because the airlines may not sell out all upgrade seat or expensive seat and in the meantime the cheap short back seats are already packed with passengers

@HFC Southwest does not assign seats. It's their gimmick because no other airline does that. People line up to board , at the gate, and as they go on the plane they pick where they want to sit. Another reason, in this case, where you DO NOT want to be the last person on the plane.
@HFC I guess you can imagine what it is like lining up and then the boarding.... people will do anything to save $10. 🤣 I have no idea what the savings are... I just said that for drama. 😳
I usually fly with Southwest which has “open” (unassigned) seating. So, I check-in as soon as allowed to get in A or B (1-20) group for boarding. That way, I have plenty of seats to choose from. I usually prefer window seat just behind the wing. If you are in the last group (and/or last to board), you are “stuck” with whatever is left/available.
Yeah I love Southwest, but checking in just 5 minutes late and you’ll be boarding last, and they do get fully booked, so you have to be ready for middle seats and to have your carryon gate checked.
Fun part of flying SWA is after paying for Business Select/Upgraded Boarding (Day of) and getting an A1 to A15 number. Then you stand in line only to hear the 'small children, passengers, needing assistance etc. ' call, and see a parade (counted 14 on ONE flight) of wheelchairs that belong to the airport AND their 'group' boarding.
Passengers paying a hefty fee to get that A1 - A15 boarding number should be allowed to board first. Then the assistance crowd followed by everyone else.
I'm in front of the PC or phone the minute SWA opens their site for check-in.
@@crscott9908 If your preference is the seats up front (near the cockpit), that is where the families/kids, etc usually sit. So, I would prefer to have them sit first, then find a seat AWAY from them (at least a couple of rows away).
@@ronc9413 At 6'4 there are few seats on SWA's 737 fleet that are comfortable (as in not folded like origami) for me. First and exit row seats work well. Also, no kids in exit rows. 😁
The worst damn process ever. I hate having to choose who to sit next to or having someone doing it to you. So cringe.
Couple of years ago I became disabled. Mostly sucks but for traveling - it's oddly great. Wheelchair through the airport (tip the person who pushes you, at least $10). Pre-board. And in case of trouble I've got my cane - heavy wooden one with a brass handle. I guess I found the disability silver lining in the clouds.

Not really. Some inconsiderate people like to pack their carry-on in the first available overhead compartment towards the front of the aircraft. If they board from the rear and you have a seat just behind 1st Class, you will be last to board and may not get the overhead room you paid for. Yes, this has happened to me.

Not necessarily. Pax that are seated in the back will very often stow their carry on in an overhead compartment over seats closer to the front. This way they just grab the bag on the way out. Used to have to keep eyes on that.

As a FA with 36 years experience, I give you, James, a B grade for your commentary. Some of it is incorrect.
"All the tickets have an assigned seat". Not true on all airlines. If you board last you risk not having space for your carryon near your seat. You also risk not having any room at all and end up with the airline checking your carryon as baggage.
I've seen the passageways for the crew sleeping compartment. I was in the last row of seats on one trip, and saw a door next to the lavatory open up and a flight attendant coming down a flight of stairs. She had just woken up from her rest and was coming back on duty.
Since I am a violinist by profession, when I board a plane I always have to make sure, that I am one of the very first people to be on board, because the violincase fits in the overhead compartement ONLY if there is nothing else in there...! So I always have to make sure that the violincase is the first item in the overhead compartement, or I´m in big trouble!!! Luckily I have always been a frequent flyer with Delta Airlines and therefore am allowed to be the first person on the plane or to get an upgrade anytime that there is still room in first class. Did come in really handy when I was moving and had to take violin AND my cat on the plane...! The rest of my "handluggage" was around my belly...all the way from America to Europe...😗

@@canadude6401 You wouldn´t believe it, but most people on the plane just want to sleep or listen to their headphones, they are seldom interested in a free concert above the clowds...But it happened one time that an overhead compartement was too short for my violincase! So I had to check in the empty case and people donated their pillows so that my violin could ride between a bunch of pillows all by itself in the overhead compartment and was safe! That was so sweet!☺

When I travel I typically take a carry-on suitcase. If you wait until last to board and the flight is full, you run the risk of the overhead compartments filling and there not being sufficient room in the compartment. If this happens you may have to check your bag and retrieve it in baggage claim instead of being able to walk straight off the plane and exiting the airport. I’d rather stand inline initially than wait at baggage claim.

Yup yup my very first flight alone at 16 the flight attendants had to place my bag in business class at the front, while I had my seat allll the way at the back. Wasn’t a good experience being nervous about flying and not having my luggage directly above me. Learnt my lesson then

The main problem with boarding last is that frequently there is no room in the overhead locker for your carry on once you get to your seat. (I'm talking about on a fully booked plane here). The staff might end up putting your stuff in another locker a long way from your seat. So you will have to get off last as well. Either that or fight your way to the far off locker.
Dont board last if you can help it. The storage in the overhead often gets full before the flight is finished loading. Unless you are ok with your bag being sent to understorage. Understorage is often rough on your bags so i prefer to board quickly sit and relax on the plane with a book knowing my bag is near me.
I wait to get off pretty much last and as such dont care where my baggage is stored overhead or not. Everyone rushes to get off only to all meet up in baggage and customs anyway. by waiting, you get to queue a lot less.
This is my exact sentiment. I do not care if my baggage is not near my seat. First world problems.

As far as boarding last goes, that's big NO for us because few airlines enforce/monitor the use of overhead bins so that's why we choose to board a little earlier. We even had our overhead bin space taken in first class one time (not gonna lie...that was pretty annoying). Thanks again for the great videos!

I've been a structural aircraft technician since 1978. I find it absolutely shocking that it tragically took a series of crashes in the 60's, to finally remind their engineers of the existence of stress risers and stress concentration, ESPECIALLY at internal corners. This is tantamount to naval engineers, after a series of ships sinking, eventually realizing that wire mesh might be a bad choice for hulls structures.

While I agree with you, that's a bit harsh to make it sound like they were being incompetent. Back in the 50's they didn't understand metal fatigue as they do now, and there was no finite element analysis tools, regular Xray checks, or the level of understanding we have now about these things. The fuselage passed all of the structural tests at the time, they just did not understand how stress concentrates at sharp adges, and that the stresses in the fuselage body as the plane pressurised and depressurised gradually weakened it. As an engineer you should know that all these safety rules, checks, regulations have mostly all come about because of an accident previously. For example, even until the 80's it wasn't a requirement for seat upholstery in a plane to be flame retardant. We're always learning and improving. Totally obvious to us now with hindsight.
I'm no expert, but I'm sure there's plenty of examples of similar bad design in ships too over the years. The Mary Rose: too top heavy and capsised when water got in through the gun ports, the Estonia: lack of watertight compartments casuing it to capsize when taking on water.
But I digress. Would love to hear of other crazy design features you've seen in aircraft over the years...
@@fuzzblightyear145 I don't know about aviation, but in the maritime world there are very rigorous, maritime engineering standards in use. For example, there are regulations governing the materials. You can't use cardboard. No cardboard derivatives. No paper, no string, no cello tape. Ships got to have a steering wheel. There's a minimum crew requirement of one. And they have to been built so that the front doesn't fall off.
@@fritsified5952 On a ship, you don't need to worry about weight. You can build a ship like a tank. Aircraft design is about compromise. I think most people would be surprised how thin the fuselage skin is and the forces put on the fuselage.
I disagree somewhat with the idea of boarding last. With so may passengers bringing such big carry on luggage to avoid baggage fees there are times when I have needed to check my carry on b/c all of the overheads were already full and like most others my carry on won't fit underneath the seat in from of me. That's why I try to board earlier rather than later

Yep happened a lot on international flights than domestic flights. I just got back from vacation to Asia (SFO - Changi - CGK and vice versa) and in all flights there will be a shortage of overhead compartments. Back then the plane was bigger (Boeing 747) because bigger fuel tank size = more distance, but now smaller planes (Boeing 777) can do 8000 miles without need to refuel. Unless all your baggages were checked-in than boarding early is better or you fly business and first class which won't have this problem.

I used to board last. I usually fly 1st class. I would discover that someone in coach would steal my overhead space for their luggage. I would be stuck for a space to store my luggage.

I disagree about boarding last. I'm flying periodically about once or twice a month and I'm always paying extra for me to be boarded as a first passenger to premium seats, where I can comfortably sit with my book and wait for the rest of the passengers. I'm also leaving the airplane first. 👌🏻
also, if you fly business class over long-haul, (which i have) you always get to board first, just to save the *pain* of boarding last, and convenience

I like to be one of the first to board, due to my disability. However, I usually wait until everyone else is off before I get off. I don't like crowds.
If you have an assigned seat, then there is no need to get to it early, other than the overhead bin issue.
I hope people won't start messingnwith the lavatories now that this emergency opening is more and more known.

Bad advise. Boarding last ensures that your large carry on will be checked “for free”. This will cost you anywhere between 10-30 minutes while waiting for your carry on 😣 to pop out of the luggage elevator. Not to mention most people like to have carry ons because they want to keep their personal things near them.

I knew about the Lavatory Sign one ages ago when I saw a flight attendant doing it. Of course, I would never intentionally unlock the door with someone doing their business inside. I'm not that bad.
If someone had an unexpected or sudden Diabetic episode, a heart attack, or seizure, it would be necessary to check on a passenger if they didn't exit in a certain amt. of time. I'd want a flight attendant to ask if I was ok since I have Diabetes.

Board first because tightasses who bring 42 items of carry-on take up all the space otherwise. It’s funny watching these flogs board last as they try and work out where to put their stuff. Though inevitably they ram it all in on top of your bags, potentially breaking anything in your bag not made of titanium…

Ah boarding last. Well I have done over 90 long hauls 11-12 hours over forty years - now I just go to the front of the queue at the gate when boarding on economy and ask politely if I may find my seat first. They always say yes as long as I go to entrance B and not A (first class). I never take carry ons - just another hassle, perhaps my coat needs to squash into an overhead. I understand people with babies and children need carry ons or people with special needs I did as well when my girls were babies and toddlers.
This "secret" of boarding last is as genuine as my words when asked,why I always ask to be seated at the rear; because no plane has reversed into a mountain😀
So when the plane hits the mountain at 600 miles per hour you will live a millisecond longer than the pilots
I disagree with boarding last. Due to limited overhead space and a great many travelers trying to cheat the system, unless you have additional checked bags boarding last means that you will quite often not be able to stow your carry-on bag and need to have it checked. This could very easily cause an extended delay upon arrival.
I don't board last for reasons of social anxiety. There's no way I will allow myself to be stared at by a lot of people.

There is a big problem with boarding last....many times the overhead storage will be full and you have nowhere to store your carry on(s) if you are last. I don't agree with this point in the video.
Waiting till the end is not always good. If there is no room in the over head compartments your belongings can be place farther from you are in the belly of the aircraft.

Boarding last? While I agree that the rush to get on and the long wait in line is worth missing, there’s usually no space in a nearby overhead cabin for carry-on bags for last/ late boarders. Also there’s more of a chance someone has tried to nick your seat - especially if it’s an aisle seat or they want to be next to a family member/ friend. Hence all your accessories have been tossed, turned, moved and in these day, touched.
If you have to board last …tough luck. Otherwise, try to get at the front of that group when your seat is called by moving closer to the gate as others board.
Actually, because I hate sitting for long periods on planes, I take advantage of the opportunity to stand as much as possible before getting on board. That’s just a personal preference.
Over the past 10 years (and many, many flights), I’ve noticed people boarding, placing their carry-on in an overhead bin close to the front of the plane, and then walking to their seat, often in the middle to rear of the plane. They simply refuse to carry, or roll, their luggage with them. Unfortunately, this leaves people, who have seats reserved at the front of the plane with very limited (or no) room to stow their luggage. I wish flight attendants would catch the culprits in action and either demand they remove their luggage and take it with them further back in the plane, or remove the luggage and take it to the culprit, saying “I believe you placed this in the incorrect overhead bin.”
