Nowadays, Volvo cars look much better than their German competitors.
@@TheCJUN German cars look cheap and tacky now, no point in splashing the cash when you get the same quality from the French
...and still they are slow...dead steering...underpowered engines...limited to 180kph...interior is old and tacky...and hard to sell it as a used car....I'll pass on almost premium Volvo
Almost none of that is true. Except that 180 km/h limit. The interiors are some of the best in the business, and they are not slow. Their PHEVs are actually really quick. Unnecessarily so. And they are very easy to trade in here in the US.
@@karacha interior is old world design...no emotions not modern touches it is like an old house inventory...and that screens are funny
@@alexluke84 I respect your opinion. It's just that I and many other people who love and buy Volvos absolutely love the interior. It's not for everyone (just like the typical Benz interior isn't for everyone), but it is a clean, de-cluttered meditative space with ultra comfortable seats and great sound systems. It is my little oasis, especially after a long day at work. Drive a little, listen to some jazz and feel good. The screen is fine, I rarely interact with it at all, and the car is very quick. Yes, it is electronically limited to 112 mph, but the highway speed limit where I live is 75. You still have plenty of power to pass easily and effortlessly.
I think Volvo has already hit its peak when it comes to design. The 2020 S90, XC90 are perfect in design, perfect lines, perfect lights, timeless. Any changes would be a downgrade
I also think that current gen is perfection. But what we can see with XC 90 second facelift, they doing perfect job. Just improving and not messing around with beautiful designs.
Waiting for touring versions of V90 update
I think Volvo has to move on and modernize. They've done a great job with the EX30 and Ex90 interiors in my opinion. The've resisted the trend toward glitziness and overdoing ambient lighting but there is some piano black in them. I would like some buttons, however. The exteriors will prove to be classic Volvo in time.
I don’t think it’s a fact that BEVs “need” to be able to charge in five minutes or that the “infrastructure isn’t there yet”. I know a few BEV driver mates in the UK - none of them say there are any serious problems - they’re all happy with the current situation, and one of them can’t charge at home.
I always thought polestar was the electric version of a Volvo. Keep polestar electric and have Volvo be the hybrid models
aren't they separate already? from what i saw on news article, polestar already separated from volvo and owned by geely
@@hfurqonpurnomo994 they sold their stake in polestar but are still involved in the manufacturing and R&D
At that point, Volvo eventually dies, and no one wants that. It seems that Polestar is creating more of a Porsche-esque lineup in that it’s small but covers most of the basics (Polestar 2, 3, 4), and it also contains a luxury sedan (Polestar 5) and a sports car (Polestar 1, 6). They’re not performance cars like Porsche, but they are far more luxury oriented. Volvo on the other hand is going after the market they’ve always gone after: a slightly premium feel with best in class safety technology at a somewhat affordable price. Their lineup is also slightly bigger than Polestar’s, so Polestar is not just electric Volvo. Hell, even their design languages are starting to go in slightly different directions (although it is worth noting that they do visually share evidence of common origin)
@@hfurqonpurnomo994both brands are part of Geely!
@@mrsoisauce9017Volvo wont DIE out. Ever.
You truly do not know what world that you are living in. With GEELY backing Volvo, they can transition faster than most legacy automakers. They are keeping up with the Chinese market and do not care if European or US markets can keep up. This is about dominating the automaker industry while the other competitors are weakened due to their inability to adapt and innovate.
The other manufacturers have already innovated more than Volvo
@@RRLV434 Not at this moment. They are losing billions because they cannot transition to EV technology quickly enough for the Chinese market.
@@MatrixJockey Theyre not losing cause they cant transition, if anything, theyre losing becaue people dont want to buy electric. Mercedes brought back their v-8's cause people did not want electric
this could be knife with 2 blades.. people still wants cars with engines, thats is fact.. ev have problems with recharging, and capacity and infracture for all ev on market.
but volvo maybe have some intel where future is going from geely couse geely and byd are now largest ev producers
In Europe people are turning back to ICE cars. EV cars sales in august had -30% drop in Germany…, thats why producers keep developing ICE cars. Problem is that producers they were not prepared for such market response…, they were not developing new ICE models, thats why we have now Facelift of XC90 after 10 years instead of new model. Audi for example hasnt introduced nothing new in years until new A5, Mercedes is shutting down EQS, Fiat 500 will become an hybrid from fully electric car, PSA vans also.. from full EL, back to diesels and so on…, problem is also in EU green agenda…, they are setting new and new dates for transirion from ICE to EV. But in the end, buyers are the ones who are ruling the market, not Bruxells
Just a reminder that the pre-face xc90 always had the interface climate controls, they never had dedicated controls ✌️ lovely video overall
the facelift for the XC90 reminds me of the Cadillac XT6. I think its the vents and accent pieces in the vent below the headlights being vertical compared to the horizontal design of the older XC90s that reminds me more of an XT6
Can you make a video about the TOGG T10F ?
Wonder why you are comparing the XC90 with EX30, wouldn't it be better if u compare the EX90 since they are in similar size?
What makes cardesigns "productdesigny" like you often mention it?
The way I interpret it is that angles and flat surfaces make it 'product' design. Curves, lineflow, and an overall sense of personality from nose to tail make a car have 'automotive' design.
Think of it like comparing a modern iPhone to a classic Nokia, the nokia is clearly a 'designed' phone where the iphone is a rounded brick.
Volvo built prior to 1993 were most safest and most dependable cars. Most highest miles driven car is Volvo P-1800.
I had a 1990 Volvo and earlier. They were safe, but they had their headaches and were way more expensive to maintain than a Toyota or Honda or Mazda.
Why did you compare the XC90 with the ex30 and not the ex90?
Bring those PHEVs for sure! Some of the best in the business, together with Toyota. Amazing drivetrains and very practical too. While other manufacturers struggle mightily, selling fewer cars, Volvo, Lexus and Skoda still doing great!
Despite nice design of their cars , Volvo’s insist not to equip with paddle shifters, ruins the hall project
I wish the new XC90 was a full on bespoke EV. Looks so much better than the EXC 90. Im glad Volvo is committed to EVs, but I think they should ditch the Polestar brand and styling.
What’s the point of comparing the XC90 to the EX30 and not the EX90?
Gonna have to disagree with your assessment of the XC 90 a bit.
The shapes of the front grill and the bottom area of the rear hatch are too rounded to fully connect with the chiseled appearence of the rest of the car.
Plus, they throw me back to Volvo 20 years ago.
A few sharper edges and angles would fix that right away, but as it is now, those parts don't work for me.
13:52 Stellar pronunciation of ”Orrefors” here✨just like I as a native speaker of Swedish am pronouncing it👌🏼🇸🇪
Bembli is Swedish. He has a Swedish accent when speaking English.
@@wangshuyen Okay I give up 🙌🏻 I was wrong☺️ he’s Swedish. I just watched 10 seconds of his video on Koenigsegg and heard what I needed to convince myself. Let’s just forget everything I said before this😬🙄…
@@totompa81 😊 no worries!
Volvo is the best 🇸🇪✔️ see them all over Sweden. Best cars! We are Sweden 🇸🇪 ❤
Could you redesign the Pontiac solstice gpx?
The taillights being separated (top and bottom) of the EX30 looks disjointed to me.
Tjena! Vänligar hälsningar från Uppsala ❤Bembli
Charging up in 5 minutes is a bit of a stretch, but a lot of EV’s right now can get you to 80 percent in like 15 to 20 minutes. Keep in mind that you’re only really doing that on road trips and living in a multi family unit. If you spend 20-30 minutes at a charger every 2 days, it’s doable if your still living in these type of conditions. Some one with a house would rarely if ever have to go to a charging station unless they go out of town. Also, a lot of apartments are offering charging areas. It doesn’t necessarily need a charger at every parking lot, because not every car needs to charge every night!
Lifted slab, lifted slab, lifted slap….
What happened to flying bricks? What happened to the big booty hatchbacks? Oh…. Right… the Chinese…
It was over and sign of the times when the C30 facelift was introduced, from a sleek young hatch for the scene crowd to squinty eyes and excess weight (added 200 lbs over the base T5 of 08’).
No Chinese influence is in Volvo. I know some find that hard to believe but Volvo creates Volvos with Sweden leading and dictating the design. People keep projecting Chinese influence on Volvo that doesn't exist. Volvo has kept their own Swedish headquarters, Swedish design and engineering teams that dictate the content of the cars. The finance is what is from Geely, not the content. Yes, Volvo can use a platform or so from Geely but that's about it. And most Volvos are on Volvo platforms, only the EX30 is on the Geely platform. Going forward, Volvos will be on the SPA3 platform, that's a Volvo platform, use their own electric motors and their own (malfunctioning) software.
I heard Volvo will use Toyota hybrid technology? They already use their transmissions.
Polestar is a bit more extra imo, trendier, crazier designs and less practical cars. Function follows form
was getting an electric vehicle. seems sorta foolish
now given battery/charging tech will likely improve
drastically over the next few years
That the grid is not ready is pure urban legend.
A lot of EVs aren't efficient whatsoever, thats why they market range instead of efficiency, no one cares about range in an internal combustion car we look at efficiency
when all evs can be affable and recharge in 15-20 min then am down
Do you know briefly Ford owned Volvo. So those Volvo station wagons were Ford Mercury. v40s were Ford Focus. Presently Volvo is owned by Chinese and India. They realize Volvo can’t be sold made in China so they assembled them in Sweden with parts made in China. All up to 1993 most part all parts made in Sweden.
No they weren't. Volvo stations wagons were on the Ford platform but they were still Volvos. And India does not own Volvos. The TAta company owns Range Rover. A Chinese company owns Volvo but Volvo is still a Swedish run company. Volvos can be assembled in China, Sweden, Belgium or the USA depending on the model. They're building a new plant in Slovakia.
Volvo ❤
So no cheap version of the polestar 1
Cheap version of a $150,000 halo hybrid coupe?
@benjaminsmith2287 5 is the halo car. Starting in 2026 would switch to the 6 as the halo car.
@@ii_dynasty I don't think they need the halo cars. They need a Polestar 2 replacement to get them in good financial footing. The 2 put them on the map, the 1 hardly sold as a halo car.
Too bad they are made in China because they are beautiful cars.
They aren’t though? The EX30 in non-US markets is, plus some other odd model. In that case you can say BMWs are made in China too as they manufacture several models there.
Made in Sweden, US and Belgium as well.
They aren't made in China. The EX90 is made in the USA and the EX30 will be made in Belgium for the USA market.t And, FWIW, the Chinese production is on par or better than the USA or European production. MAde in China isn't a bad thing.
The new XC90 looks like the old XC90 that's been around for ages
Way too much electric crap. Bring back the ICE engines and bring the diesels to the US.
Uh, no. That's not happening. The entire auto industry is going electric full force. Do you know why?
The problem is... nobody will buy it.
Why? Please elaborate
@@thehonestdoctor3590 There's a reason why literally zero diesel coupes, sedans, hatchbacks and wagons aren't sold in the USA.
Its because Volvo is now Chinese company. Geely is the owner of Volvo.
there are some benefits there for sure. especially in battery tech. it's also good they have a global build footprint and retain platform and design development in Gothenburg Sweden. they are quite well positioned for the future.
Volvo is not a Chinese company. Volvo is a Swedish company with a Chinese parent company.
@@benjaminsmith2287 Volvo is former Swedish company bought out by Chinese. So now the owner is a Chines company Geely / which make them theirs. You know ..if you buy something its yours. Right ? The boss is China now.
@@MartinMartinX They are not a FORMER Swedish company. They are a Swedish company that has a Chinese parent. They weren't not changed after the purchase. In fact, the Swedish operation was strengthened. People continue to spew this nonsense and I have to continually set the record straight. The CEO of Volvo is Scottish. The CFO is Swedish. All of the significant people actually running Volvo are in Gothenburg and not China and no, China does not overrule Gothenburg's decisions. They approve budgets or not.
Geely car!
