  • After making history of mumbai local trains I have decided to make a video on history of delhi metro trains
    The Delhi Metro is a rapid transit system serving Delhi and its satellite cities of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Bahadurgarh and Ballabhgarh, in the National Capital Region of India.It is by far the largest and busiest metro in India, and second oldest after the Kolkata Metro. The network consists of Eleven colour-coded regular lines serving 285 stations with a total length of 389 kilometres (242 mi). The system has a mix of underground, at-grade, and elevated stations using both broad-gauge and standard-gauge. Delhi Metro operates over 2,700 trips daily, starting at around 05:00 and ending at 11:00 PM

    I witnessed the transformation of delhi.
    From Jokes about the smoke, the redline, then came blue lines, then revival of DTC green-yellow buses.
    Then overnight switch to CNG buses, also meant that every diesel bus was phased out, however that also came with the revival of DTC, which had purchased huge fleet and immediately boasted about making a profit with providing school buses.
    Then the first metro corridor opened from shahdra to tees hazari.
    I recall when the pragati maidan station was opened, it was supposed to serve the India international trade fair, but the work wasn't fully completed so the station was opened before finishing was done, so there were unpatched walls and unpainted sections with cardboard used to make partitions and cover construction materials piled up, yet it was a success.
    2010 commonwealth games also transformed the little things in Delhi, from the uniform design across city infrastructure to revival of public spaces like India gate and connaught place.
    The growing network will help preserve the biggest strength of delhi ncr region and that is the open spaces and spread out establishments, unlike Mumbai or bangalore where the city is choking under its own weight.
