    Ron Huang, Apple VP of Sensing and Connectivity, explained on the Brian Tong podcast that the USB-C AirPods Pro have an upgraded chip with 5 GHz connectivity, whereas the Lightning ones only have a 2.4 GHz chip. This reduces latency and provides for lossless audio with the Vision Pro. They do have a better chip.

    • @aminosmz
      @aminosmz ปีที่แล้ว +36

      To be more precise they have the same exact H2 chip as the Lightning ones but the wireless antennas/cells embedded in the buds supports 5Ghz, at this frequency range, it’s not Bluetooth anymore but another wireless audio protocol they don’t talked about yet as mentioned in the podcast :)

      Lightning APP2 are approved for 5ghz band, per fcc. REALLY want to know what components changed. Agree with author, this is a BIG deal for audio.

      I have the lightning ones and to anyone reading this.. they sound so amazing that like six months later I still am always impressed. The sound is so natural everything sounds like it’s in front of you live. And they are so comfortable I forget they are in. They are very worth $200 still. Type c is cool but the chip upgrade does sound nice for future proofing.
      Anyways, AirPods Pro 2 have been the Best Buy in awhile. I still use my Bose Quiet Comfort 35ii all the time but use the AirPods more.
      One complaint, the case drain is so bad you are basically forced to charge once a day.. I don’t mind charging cause I just set it on a Qi thing. What I mind is having the sealed in battery discharge fully and recharge full everyday can’t be great. I’m hoping to get three-four solid years out of them before they become landfill. If apple offers a way to recycled by then I’ll definitely go that route.

    I recently moved from the Beats Fit Pro to Airpods Pro 2 USB-C and I'm really impressed. I was a bit concerned about how these would fit, but they're really secure and the sound quality is excellent. Noise cancelling is very good too, definitely a step up compared to the Beats. They're also not fatiguing to listen to or uncomfortable over longer durations.

    Great video. I would add that spatial audio is the game changer for me, and that alone is a reason to buy them. For me personally, using spatialize stereo mode was a breakthrough, simply because I realized I don’t like hearing music coming from inside my head, and explains why I have always preferred speakers. This means I now almost always listen to music on my AirPods Pro 2, because combined with the personalization, the EQ is also better, and I get noise cancellation.

    • @daveangeloobico7028

      Am I crazy? Do my ears need to be checked? Cause I also have the 2nd gen AP2 (USB-C), and I REALLY don't like spatial audio. I just keep it off at all times. I listen to lossless music (16-24bit only), and I lose A LOT of the dynamics when I turn on spatial audio.

    • @MLTAKOS
      @MLTAKOS 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@doyoulikecrystalgel you aint crazy, dolby atmos tracks get reworked so some instruments volumes changes, thats how i think it works in order to make it sound sourround while in stereo bc sourround is more than 5 speakers. New tracks get made with dolby in mind so they sound better than the normal while old ones are that were made in older software just sound like a whole different song. New ones have more bass and detail obviously while old ones seem rushed and low in volume. Spatial audio as a iphone feat just fills the gaps and makes music sound full-er even in non dolby atmos tracks.

    • @doyoulikecrystalgel
      @doyoulikecrystalgel 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MLTAKOS ok thank goodness. I appreciate you explaining. I also recently bought “high end” TWS earbuds for my S23 Ultra, and the app you use with it also has Spatial Audio. Results are the same as my AP2’s - dynamics just get destroyed when it’s on. It almost sounds like I’m listening to music on speakers inside of a tin can, and it doesn’t sound good. Thanks for explaining. I think I’ll just keep all Spatial Audio off lol.

    • @khobia2
      @khobia2 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@doyoulikecrystalgelI like Spatial Audio but he’s right. I’m not sure if it’s time consuming or expensive or both but a lot of Dolby Atmos mixes in music and movies are a joke. So I’m using stereo on the AirPods Pro 2 also. In my home theater I have 5.1.4 set up. Had a Dolby Atmos equipped Onkyo receiver and Atmos ‘what Atmos?’ was nothing but vapor. Upgraded to a Sony receiver and with their spatial audio now I can hear sound in the height channels. Yeah Dolby Atmos mixes need lots of work. Didn’t mean to ramble on. Sorry.

    I have an iPhone 14 ProMax and 2nd gen AirPods Pro with all of the updates. I have noticed that it seems to lower the volume well when I’m talking to a coworker but guess I haven’t had a conversation yet that allows the music to creep back in if I don’t talk for a bit while listening to someone. I can also say that when there is a loud noise, like urinal flashing and paper towel dispenser, the music volume will increase to overcome the background noise. I wasn’t aware of these updated features at first and it freaked me out 😂 but after a few days I have come to appreciate them.

    I think this is a good point, but the advantage of the Vision Pro is that they always know exactly how far away your AirPods will be from the Vision Pro - very, very close. The distance from an iPhone will always be further and sometimes very far. Much easier to guarantee lossless quality over such a short distance.

    My AirPods Pro have been trashed for the last 6 months or so. Mics completely don’t work anymore, and I even have a piece of wire stuck in the case to get one of them to charge. I’ve been waiting to get new ones cuz I know they’ve been working on lossless wireless audio. Finally they have the chip to make it possible. Ordered today. I know it isn’t supported yet outside the goofy headset, and I’ll likely need a new phone with the h2 chip when they decide it’s a good idea (likely with a release of the AirPods Max with an h2 chip I’d imagine to create some of that sweet publicity) but I’ve also been waiting for usb c on iPhone so I’m ready for when it all comes together. The fact that they made it possible is enough for me. Idk why they like to do this software features come a year after release with the AirPods, I guess sales probably that’s what it always is. Guess it’s about the time window for them to be trashed and you need new ones lol. Also got that AppleCare+ as I’m now all too familiar with how disposable these things are now. In a year when that h2 phone drops with the software update I’ll be a happy man listening to lossless audio and finally charging everything with one cord. Who knows, maybe I’m completely wrong, but I really needed new ones anyways and it feels like the dream is near.

    Been searching for an answer on this issue and will definitely help me decide what version to pick up considering in our local area, the prices for the lightning-airpods pros have gone down quite a bit. :)

      I don't believe so. The reason why the iPhone 15 lineup can charge devices is because they support USB Power Delivery protocol which enables this sort of reverse charging. Lightning iPhones lack USB PD support.

    Everybody has the same reaction to conversation awareness...The first time you are alone and start singing to your music...it cuts off. And then you turn off conversation awareness and never use it again.

    Good review and yes I own both AirPods Pro 1st and 2nd generation and the sounds as well as the noise cancellation is better on the 2nd generation, not by much but is better nonetheless and cloth covered cable?, never heard that term before is called braided cable although I guess cloth covered is also accurate.

    Awesome video as always!
    Could you do a comparison video of the sound quality of the AirPods pro VS the Sony wh-1000xm5? More specifically....what is the difference in quality of music vs each being played on Spotify vs apple music? Currently on Android using Spotify but going to switch to iPhone soon (that's its own experience)..but wondering for the best audio quality should i upgrade to xm5 (from xm4) or go full Apple ecosystem and get the AirPods pro (with then a switch to Apple Music).

      Just my opinion, since you said you’re switching to iPhone and looking for new earbuds, so the best choice is non other than the Airpod pro Gen 2 (Usb-C). The sound quality and the noise cancellation will have to be the Sony. But then, for actual daily usage the Airpod pro will the best choice. Firstly, for iphone user, everything will just works when you pair your airpod. Then call the features such as spatial audio works out of the box without any extra apps. Transparency mode in Airpod pro is the bestttt so far, and once you have it, you will love it. The rest of their features for me, I would sum it up as a product that is well rounded and dial-in just to perfection.

  • @Nothing-kr5hn

    My biggest concern with them is the longevity. 150$ to replace the batteries on each of case and the buds is absolutely cynical. They could just as easily make cylindrical batteries like on the watches easily replaceable by a layman but instead they make it so complex that we are coerced to give in. Talk about dirty business.

    Regarding lossless, I would think it is Apple's version of UWB. UWB offers both a much higher bitrate (so lossless) AND about 3x the range of Bluetooth.
    I was really hoping, when the AirPods Pro 2 were coming out, that Apple would have switched to UWB as I really am used to lossless now. Would have been a coup or Apple as it would have shaken up the entire industry not just for headphones but for wireless speakers and all would follow. They didn't but they may well have done so now without telling anyone!
    I will not be buying the AVP but hopefully Apple will incorporate the chip in the upcoming iPhones. - can't believe they would have done this just for the AVP.
