and his ain't, his ain't and his ain't !!! so TRUE, your WAYLON, NOBODY can fill your shoes, EVER!!! miss you, don't rest in peace, you still had too much energy, may you be with the Lord!
Every time I see Waylon like this it just kills me. He is so funny, charming and of coarse talented. When one thinks back to his 70s angry, brooding, and druggy self it is just astounding how he turned himself around. Never seen such a dramatic and sincere change. What a great man.
Brilliant comment Tommy. He was addicted to just about everything at varying stages, but got himself off the lot. I couldn't agree more with your comments about Waylon's personality. In other tapes where Waylon and Willie are singing together, Waylon flashes Willie a sly smile and Willie just BEAMS. Great stuff
@Mr.ManMakesLotsOfCan That's my thoughts as well. I'm certain he had flashes of anger in his personal life, but from everything I've read (which is more than I care to admit, lol!) he was 10x as likely to play a prank or make someone laugh than he was to be angry or be mad. He was happy go lucky the majority of the time and if you think about what haunted him throughout his life was the most was an ill timed joke. (the day the music died)
I Still Love Waylon and all The Highwaymen!!! Remember singing this along with my lp, and shouting "Wrong"!!! He was one of more than a few truly Greats! Not leaving out Johnny Cash, and all the rest, like Ernest Tubb, Lefty Frizzell, Faron Young, Marty Robbins, Stonewall Jackson, Louvin Bros, Roy Acuff, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and I'm leaving a lot out! Still Waylon is in a class all to himself, just a good old boy, never meaning no harm, been in trouble with the law since the day he was born!
I cannot say just how much I love the start of this by Waylon. The Zeigfried and Leroy/tiger breeding line. My favourite is, "My name is Waylon and his aint and his aint and his aint....and that is ALL ya need to know." Just brilliant Then the song! When he sings, " I was all but devastated at 2.19," he has a huge, cheeky grin on his face. Then, the(alleged) heart ache seemed to fade VERY quickly. Time and time and time again, he gets his hopes and self delusion UP. But of course, every time WRONG!!!!!!!! Waylon rocked.
Gawd, how I miss you Waylon. Not just "you", but the times. The good times were really good and the "bad times" weren't that bad. Simple life in simpler times.
How many times have we stepped to this tune ,and we all miss them. Love listening to Waylon doing Dirt the kids love this one Miss you and Jessie ,RIP J.DEUCE RNR CANADA
Ol' Waylon wuz the 3rd best they's evah been. If it twern't fer Hank Sr. and Johnny Cash, he'd of been #1. This BILE they play today hain't COUNTRY. Ol' Waylon, is COUNTRY. Real sad to thank about him a' bein' gone.
My God what a great statement!! I have posting stuff such as what you just said forever. I love all the GS Waylon but as I've said so many times, the change in this man was just astounding . In the 70s he was great as always but so intense and rarely " cut up ". After he got clean ( and shooters birth) he just softened up so much. You could really see it whenever he talked about Jessi ( I want to love a wo an that much) and in the Highwaymen concerts, esp the one in Nassau coliseum where he was really the host. His bio and the accompanying audio book ( with his narration) just further show how warm and funny he was. Just an immensely talented, strong, and dignified man. I think this is why the Waylon bio pic has stalled. Who would you possibly cast that can match his charisma, voice, and musicianship? Regardless, thanks for noticing something that to me is the most important aspect of this great man.
Waylon was sort of the MC of the "Highwaymen" shows--in addition to one of the stars. Don't know if that was by agreement--or if he just slid into the role!
This is off topic, but I hope that someone here can help me: back in the 1970s, there was a c/w song that didn't get much radio play, and I'm trying to identify it. It started with a man's voice, not singing, just talking.....he said he had gone to a bar (something like silver dollar, but I'm not sure about that name) and he apparently ran into his lost love there. Ring any bells with anyone?
Waylon was content to find a song at 80 beats per minute. The song did NOT have to be at 120 beats per minute. Waylon found that it is easier to catch the exit at 45 miles per hour, rather than at 120 miles an hour. The faster players often MISS their EXIT.
saw the highwaymen when they came to England what legends best country group ever
Jealous.. -.-
Lucky !!

I agree. I fell for Waylon 44 years ago and saw so many changes. I'm happy he ended his life happy, successful, and at peace with his life.

I like to see the whole concert if I could find it,I mean I like to buy the DVD if its available.
Does anyone realize his life and career was saved by losing a coin toss that's deep
It kept him off that airplane
Wow
Deep indeed, that old coin flip just might've been the function of. Hoss had a couple women praying on him all the time.

Cool snubbe!
This is my favorite version of the song. It’s better when sang a little faster.

you can tell by the way he is acting that he is high
@@rosemarie443 How are YOU doin' ? Does everyone that is happy, have to be high ? Get help !
