It has none of the depth or challenge that its competitors had, but ClayFighter 2 does make for an amusing, thoroughly absurd fighter that can be a lot of fun to pick up and play with some friends.
They really need to bring back this series create a fighter would do so well and a story mode would work as well and DLC would be thick icing on this cake I was young and never went further than the normal or easy mode and got sarge as the last boss and never had 2 mirror matches still brings back memories
It's strange... Even though I haven't played this game since, welp, the 90s, I distinctly remember 2 things: 1) GooGoo doing that quintuple laugh of his 3 times in a row after defeating his opponent, yet here he only does it once... 2) Hoppy, whenever he said steamin' jelly it sounded a bit slower, louder/more intense and more along the lines of how Arnold Schwarzenegger would say it, I mean, this is kind of close to it, but still notably different...
it's so weird that this game's from 1995. _Terminator 2: Judgement Day_ came out in 1991. the whole game's premise is based off a four-year-old movie. now granted, this was the '90s, so people still REMEMBERED a hit film from four years ago but still. it's strange. seems to me they should've titled their game _Forrest Clay_ or _Pulp Clay_ or _Clear and Present Clay._ shoot, I gotta write these down. they're gold. when 1995 comes around and they want to make another Clay-based fighting game for the SNES I'm ALL ABOUT writing them incredible title suggestions. nobody steal, o-clay?
I must have missed yer video of the first game!! I used to play the first game all the time as I loved the humor and wacky characters!! This one however, looks insane, as I never played it before.......and I gotta say........ "Nana" and "PeelGood" are just wrong for character design choices and names!! xD XDXD!!!!
Are you upscaling the videos? Could you please do that using nearest neighbor instead of bilinear/bicubic upscaling? The image would be much sharper that way.
+allluckyseven That's exactly why I don't do it that way I don't want them razor sharp. They weren't ever meant to look that way, and it ruins effects that relied on the CRT to produce. I only upscale them so they play at 60fps on TH-cam, otherwise thus resolution is stupid overkill for a signal that was originally 240i :)
Oh for sure, I was always impressed by that. You should look up Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean, too. Those games were even more impressive with the voices in their intros.
Yeah I remember Star Ocean when I tried to load it up in an emulator back in 1999, but back then it was only half translated and a bit buggy, also the ZSnes was still in early stage, after the intro the game graphic glitches. I think Super Metroid also have vocal intro but the sound was horrible, but still a nice effort
I think I remember reading a news story about the tragic cases of the children who never stopped screaming upon seeing the boxing ring stage 1:26. legends tell they're still screaming to this dAHHHHHHHH
This game has some absolutely terrifying backgrounds.
professors84 For real, the ringside crowd and the baby level scare the deuce out of me
Heavens, yes. The boxing ring is surrounded by a horde of great examples of the Uncanny Valley. Positively horrifying.
My thoughts exactly
@@Jabroniville i don't think that word means what you think it means
@@ghoulsarefree Nah, they have f'd up human-like teeth and stuff like that, and look almost real, but just "off" in a few ways.
Everything about this videogame is so 90s I love it!
Me to

I like them both about the same. They're fairly different from one another but I like them both.
This game is a good example of how Interplay was the MTV of SNES games, lol
1:00 Someone saw this nightmare fuel of a stage and thought "Yeah, this would be perfect to put in a kids game!"
17:22 Clayfighter 2 Judgment Clay All Evil Clones
Butch: Yeah!
Ice: Blizzard!
Jack: Jack attack!
Dr. Peelgood: Get away!
Sarge: I win ya!
Slyck: I'm number one!
Spike: Diaper!
Thunder: Eat this fella!
Announcer: We're back!
These backgrounds looks like was captured by something recorded in VHS. Even for the SNES, looks very blury.
I see, these characters and backgrounds are masterpiece.
What a great game, I remember renting this like 3 or 4 times
That first stage's background is creepier than The Hands Resist Him.
Googoo just wanted everyone to get a good night’s rest
Does anyone else think that Hoppy looks like a yellow Energizer Bunny?

I think Kangoo inspired Roger Jr. from Tekken 5.
its a rip off of Roo from Streets of Rage
There's no final boss in this game? Weird.
They need to bring the Clayfighter series back. It's been too long.
There was, because in development 2 characters were cut, that being Lucy the Gorilla and Dr. Kiln, who eventually returned in 63 1/3
is a spoof from the terminator 2 judgment day
I love this game. Nana was my favorite

When the new clayfighter coming out?
"Feeling Flat?"
those backgrounds are so cursed
oh lord! this was my shit back in the day.
Clay Fighter 2 was a great game, and if it wasn't for the monstrosity that is 63 1/3, I think the series would still be going on today.
It might still be
In title screen. Terminator 2 references
I love this game
Tiny's background used to scare me.
Amazing

Terrific video.
Interplay's planning to sell their Clay Fighter IP!
Not selling, something might be in the works :)

i want this on the switch so bad
use snes emulator for switch
Nick this plus an all new clay fighter on switch would be awesome.
Hell yea it would lol. I wish.
with better graphics and improved characters animation (smoothed out )
Nice
Didn't this game have a catchy title song called Clayfighters?
Hanferd Nah, that was the original one
hah I mixed it up, although thought it was amazing with SNES to have vocal music
Oh for sure, I was always impressed by that. You should look up Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean, too. Those games were even more impressive with the voices in their intros.

Hanferd Oh yeah, I forgot Orchid's stage in Killer Instinct also has vocals
I'm the best with Hoppy.
Goo Goo for me.
I will play you on this game and the first one too
Bad ass Baby...
Why it has Judgement Day on the Title?
Oswald Epic Loquendero Just a fun theme :) it works well with the Bad Mr. Frosty chopper and the Hoppy T-800, dontcha think?
And talking about The Terminator, have you tried the SNES ones?
Those ugly backround models are oddly charming for me.
Wtf was that @2:16?!
Easy mode, I guess.
Googoo win the match
Googoo win by perfect
Clayfighter 1
Nana man has to be the worst idea for a fighter.
