If you ever find yourself installing another door, it goes much easier if you pop the hinge pins and pull the door out of the frame first. Then you can easily lift/ maneuver the frame into place and plum up/secure the hinge side before reattaching the door.
"Yaah!" Another job well done. I’m always amazed by your perseverance. It also shows how great it is to use the right tools. Those self-tapping screws go in steel like butter. I do wonder how temperature differences inside the container will relate to the outside temperature, especially the moisture levels in the container during the colder autumn and winter months. Good ventilation in the form of a fan and sealable ventilation holes are indeed a solution. It's a pity we have to wait another week. Well done, MEGnificant! TTYL 👋
Hey Roy!! Thank you!! Lol the inside of the can is probably 10 degrees (C) warmer! You could feel the heat wall walking into the can from the outside 40C air. But yes, it'll be interesting to see how it fairs in the fall and winter. I'll get that fan installed in it soon, and that should help a bit. Always great to hear from you, and hope you have a great week! See you soon!
I love your quirkiness and your never give up character! I'm so glad you did this video because I really want to get a shipping container for my archery range storage. I'm not sure if I would put in the standard door instead of using the container's doors but I guess it depends on how easy the doors are to operate. I can't believe you get temperatures equal to what we get in Texas! Keep up the good fight but be careful of over stressing your skeletal joints. I have often done a lot on my own as you are and now that I'm 67 my joints are letting me know that I should have go help more often...
To fasten to the metal through wood. Predrill the wood slightly larger than the threads on the screw so that they don't catch the wood. Will be much easier I promise 😊
That turned out great, you may have done it off camera, but just in case, don't forget to seal the 2 original holes that you didn't use when attaching the storage rack to the wall. And if you're going to be tempted to put any weight on the shelves above your workbench, I would suggest using both holes of the brackets to secure them. But that was a huge improvement, I can't believe what you can get done by yourself.
Thank you!! It was definitely a tough one, that door in particular lol!! And yes, thank you, the 2 original holes did get filled but I had forgotten about them until after the video was edited lol! And you're right about the shelf brackets - more screws will go in if need be - right now everything on there is super light.

Great job, Meg! You got quite a bit completed on the C-can! Especially during a heatwave too! I remember when I was working in the Columbia Icefield, in 2021. A heatwave came through Western Canada and the temperature reached 36 degrees Celsius. It was hot, but not muggy because the humidity was around 20%.
Thank you!! Yes, lots got done this week, I'm stoked! But holy, the heat waves are something else! Yes, thankfully not too muggy, but still a bit too hot for me!

As always, great job, Meg! One thing to note is to put on work shoes when you are working with a tool or carrying all sorts of heavy things. Stepping on a nail or a screw in flip-flops - believe me, this is not the kind of experience that anyone needs.
I can attest to this first hand.. Nike are not in any nail resistant as i discovered after jumping down from some scaffolding on a site on a Sunday O/T session ..
I too can attest to this first hand. nothing like literally unscrewing a 1" screw out of the arch of your foot through a flip flop. Not an experience I recommend for anyone lol
The scenery is beautiful, it reminds of Idaho. I have to watch the video on making the shelves, we just piled stuff inside our 40 foot high cube container. I also like the term "sea can". Once again, nice problem solving.
As a carpenter you should take door hinge pins out, remove door and install frame with 3 screws under the weather strip so they are hidden while plumbing up the frame.
Hey Meg! Thanks for posting your video on your container! Deanna and I are living our 13th year in our 4th RV. We have a 40' HC on our property in Northern Nevada that we will be converting and installing a 30'x40' Steel Canopy to park the RV under while we build. Great video!
Absolutely brilliant you're amazing. Brilliant video showing real life as it happens not a polished video showing only the good bits. Keep up the good work. There you go 😊😊
Good job girl always seem to impress, The reason your self tapping or tek screws however you want to call them. The reason you were snapping the heads off is because you don’t pre-drill into the metal on a self tapper, especially when the metals not very thick because then it’s catching the edges before it starts catching the pointed part so then it gets caught instead of cutting and snap the heads off so just pre-drill your board and then let the self tappers do their job.
Little tip. I’d the strew doesn’t fit in the crack your filling with the expanding foam don’t use it but use some type of silicon/sealant instead. The foam needs to be between something to seal or else over time it will fail so I use the thickness of the straw that comes with the can.
A tip when cutting wood on a saw stool you put your knee on the wood to help hold it still while cutting freeing up your other hand. Also sea can over here in new Zealand we call them shipping containers Love your videos great to see the progress your making.
Great job and great video. Now you can stop over and help me straighten up my poorly organized shop. Lol. You need to invest in a pocket hole jig to help with all of the toe nailing (screws) you are doing. Fun to watch you go from a plan to something special. 😊
Nice work. A future project could be to add an awning that the sea can door could still freely swing under to have a shaded work area extend out from the entry. With the open door acting like a wall and having mounts for tools and power - if they would clear the newly installed door when closed up.
"Nesting" takes all forms 🙂 I'm sure it must feel good to have an operational work space again, and it's no coincidence that Mr Cool ads were running during my watching of this episode! A nice DIY heat pump setup would be handy for summer AND winter 😎
It definitely does, Kev! Glad to know where everything is now (for the most part lol!) Thankfully our RV trailer's AC has been working great, but yes we'll absolutely need something like that for our house build! Hope you have a great week!
I built a wood storage shed years ago, but am thinking of converting it to a home office. My office has been in a walk in closet for too long, while it's about the same size as the cubical I had (in the real office building) it is cramped and I'd like windows. But it has wide doors that were not intended to seal the weather out, so I'm probably going to put in adoor like you did.
Looks awesome girl, good job Meg and you looked beautiful today baby girl! Thanks for sharing, Louisiana sending prayers and positive vibes to you and yours! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻💯💯💯
Howdy Meg, just a suggestion for next time, you could have built that wooden shelf outside and then just slid inside, looks like it had enough clearance. If not then you could have purchased some corner brace plates that you just screw to connect, hope that helps for a next time lol, btw you’re doing a great job improvising with what you have. You go girl. 👍
You’re doing a great job. I know you’re using it as a work shop but I would have framed out the inside and insulated the whole thing floor to ceiling and put osb on the walls, floor and ceiling. By doing this the container would stay cooler and the fan you would be able to put down the far end so it blows the air towards the doors.
I would recommend building a roof structure on to the container or over it so you have a car port on each side. It will help to keep the sun off the container and a little cooler.
I love watching you, but I seem to be going back in time to your beginning. I wished I could’ve started from the beginning till now. PS love the way you take the ladder.
Tip for when working on a movable object that is not level. Use a square and square everything with the container instead of leveling...unless you make sure the sea can is perfectly level first
Meg, you're messing up my viewing schedule 😃. Better late than never. Always really enjoy the enthusiasm you bring to all your projects. Yes, we Canadians are not meant for the heat🥵. Stay cool.

Your work ethics are amazing to me for only one person to be taking on as many projects as you do.I love the way you talk everything out and you don't seem uncomfortable talking on hard tasks. Keep up the good work and be safe, try not to get to hot drink plenty of liquid. By the way Canada is very beautiful. I live in Pensacola FL it's beautiful here also!! Take care.!
Another very cool project in the books. One small suggestion would be to get yourself a surform wood plane (I think that's what they're called - the ones with a cheese grater syle blade) that way you can rip wood oversized then bring them down to length to better fine tune your fitment. They're a bit awkward to use at first but once you get the rythem going can really chew through some wood. The one we have has saved me from many a dodgy cut over the years 😂

Also sea can over here in new Zealand we call them shipping containers
Love your videos great to see the progress your making.
Thank you Scott! So glad you're enjoying the videos!
So glad I found your channel. We are converting a container as well.
Thanks for watching! Good luck with your container as well!
Hello dear Meg, nice interesting video.👍 I always look at it. Kind regards from Bavaria 😃
Thank you so much!
Yeah. I was looking forward to your next video 😀
That's great to hear, Dave, thank you!!
My first viewing of any of your videos and I'm hooked. I'm in love ❤
Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
Great job Meg..
Thank you!
Great job and great video. Now you can stop over and help me straighten up my poorly organized shop. Lol. You need to invest in a pocket hole jig to help with all of the toe nailing (screws) you are doing. Fun to watch you go from a plan to something special. 😊
Too much work...just a drill with a 1/8" bit
this was soooo helpful! great job!!!
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
I really like watching you no matter what your going to get never give up keep them coming
Thank you so much!
@@Meg.August🎉🎉❤❤ your so sweet🎉
Meg, I'm a first time viewer. You did a great job, very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
😁Awesome Brilliant Beautiful fantastic Job . thanks for share your build adventure .
Thank you so much!
Really cool idea of putting the door in that way
Thanks Greg!
Nice work today Meg! Getting better every vid!
Thanks so much @mrpbright!! Hope you're having a great start to your week!
All very good ideas Gary! On a tighter budget with this one, but appreciate the suggestions!
Really enjoying watching the progress! Nice job!
i feel your more real then other people as you leave the mistakes in, others just cut the film :) .... Good job
great job Meg
Thank you!
I love watching you, but I seem to be going back in time to your beginning. I wished I could’ve started from the beginning till now. PS love the way you take the ladder.
I felt every screw drop. Lord that just sucks... Great job on gettin g it done!
lol ohhhh yes! There were moments in the project where it was just an absolute pain lol!!
Stay cool.
Thank you Curtis! Yes with these bigger projects, and the heat wave, definitely delayed my video release! Sorry for the delay but I'm glad you enjoyed the project! Stay cool as well!!
Hi Meg! I'm new to your channel I have only viewed two of your videos so far. Take care.!
Great job Meg! I'm so jealous of that little workshop you have hehe
Thank you!! 😊
Awesome! The only suggestion I have is to save the 'factory edge' 54:28. It's not absolutely necessary but just good practice.
Good tip, thanks!
You can use your oscillating saw to cut the protrubing screw tips before sealing them for a tighter seal
I also found your site today and I became a Member too great videos my dear I love the way you figure things out keep it up baby
Thanks and welcome!
Next door install with jam, remove door from jam. Install jam into frame opening. Easier to manipulate to fit and fasten to frame. Great job!
