I always highly recommend Bok Tower to locals and visitors. I go every year at least once from Orlando. Was just there recently for the wine walk. Bok Tower has plenty of great events throughout the year and there is nothing as relaxing and calming as sitting under the Oaks (especially in our cooler seasons) overlooking the citrus groves below with the music from the tower behind you. As a Leu Gardens member, I can say that we have some really great botanical gardens throughout Florida and membership to most botanical gardens in the US will get you in free to many of them like Bok Tower. My first visit to Bok Tower was back around 1959 or 60. At that time the orange groves surrounded the tower like a protective moat. There was no entry fee then and the parking lot was small. In 63 my family moved to Lakeland ( I was 12 ). Bok Tower was my Mom's favorite place and it became mine. My middle daughter had her wedding there and it was magical as I escorted her down the isle with the yower playing.
This was a nice partial description of the tower. It would have been nicer had you included all the facts about it. At the top of the tower, in the console space, there was an apartment used by the carillonnuer. Further, the first floor entrance room was also a dining room used by Mrs. Bok, to entertain her guests. It has a fireplace, and servants would have to start the fire in the fireplace early in the morning, in order to create enough draft in the fireplace so the guests wouldn't be overcome by the smoke. At one time in its history, the cast bells were duplicated by electronic ones built by Schulmerich, in case there were problems with the cast bells, the sounds could still ring out over the park. They proved to be not realistic enough, and were removed in the early 1970's and sold to St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Orlando, but were never put into use.
My goal with my content is to make people interested in wanting to visit. Love for people to discover historic tidbits about an attraction on their own, when they are on-site. Thank you for the additional information!

I've lived in Ft. Lauderdale since 1987 and this is he first time I've heard about this. I wish I had a way of getting there.
