Ok this is crazy because my boyfriend and I watch your videos on nyc history because we’re moving from St Pete to New York next year. You were in our neighborhood and everything! 💕
Sick Plug. Tom, you are making want to visit Saint Petersburg even more. Awesome video. Thank you. All I know about Boynton Beach is that it's over 100 years old and named after a soldier.
I almost was born on the Gandy bridge, back on the evening of November 8, 1963, because my family lived in St. Petersburg, then, & my mom was being taken over to the MacDill, AFB hospital in a taxi on the Gandy. My mom told me that she would have called me Gandy if I had been born on the bridge (I’m glad I waited). BTW, Tom please also go to the artsy town of Gulfport (surrounded by St. Petersburg, Treasure Island, and St. Pete Beach (also before you go over on Central Ave check out the two British restaurants (one on Pasadena Blvd on the way to St. Pete Beach), and the winery also on the Blvd before getting on the drawbridge to St. Pete Beach.
Thanks! - I'm doing a live show in St. Pete where I am interviewing Craig Pittman as well, if you are around - coastalcreativetv.com/event/tom-ds-big-florida-show/
You were right by me - I live only feet away (1 block) from the Gandy Bridge over on the Tampa side. I always like hearing about the history- thanks for coming to the area now & again. 😉 Don't be a fool, keep it cool Jack! It's hot in FLA. 'bout this time 'a year. (As you well know.)
Hey Tom, your in my birth and first 30 years of my life home state. (I was born @ MacDill, AFB off from Tampa, lived a little less then one year in St. Petersburg). Just some suggestions to visit and make vids of while you are there: The downtown of the city I was raised in, New Port Richey, Cedar Key, the Indian Mounds near Crystal River, Dade City, Ybor City, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs (the sponge docks are very interesting), Clearwater Beach, Anna Marie Island, Ringling Museum and Gardens just south of Sarasota, Edison-Ford Winter Home & Gardens just north of Ft. Myers, and the Edison Mall in Ft. Myers, and Sanibel Island.
Really really a great video tonight Tom. Over here next to you in Orlando have been here all my life You are always so full of information even I learned something I've been here forever. Really interesting about the railroad ties and the City of Longwood I did not know that
Why has he excluded the massive role that African Americans had in St. Petersburg 's history? How can you even make this video and exclude the entire Diaspora. I'm FROM St. Petersburg. My family from generations. WoW. Is there no moral compunction at all? So you just omit the ACTUAL history? Seriously 🤔😮😳
Hey Tom, great video, as always ... you skipped the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which is pretty cool, but that could be another video ❤. Have you been to Clearwater and the Belleview Inn? Its beautiful and historical, has to do with Henry Plant, too.
Solid tour. Didn't know St. Pete had a history. Then, couldn't tell the difference between St. Pete, Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, throw-in Bradenton. Did know the Salvador Dali Museum is in St. Pete and if a hurricance storm surge hits the area will be twenty to twenty-six* feet underwater. Sorry Charlie 🐟 * heard markings on St. Pete telephone poles indicate high water mark at thirty-five feet. St. Petersburg would then be an island.
So solid tour as always! Saint Petersburg is so gorgeous and so decent like its brother city in Russia I guess( even though I've never been there ) ! Actually it was named after Russian city Saint Petersburg!
St. Petersburg in Russia has a different mood. St. Petersburg in America is a super sunny version. In Russia, it is most of the time a cold and gray city with beautiful architecture and interesting people. I would like to visit St. Petersburg in America to compare 😁
Nabisco started the NYC trend of smashing words together to form new words: Tribeca, Dumbo, Nolita, Soho, etc. 5:17 "no relation" Hahaha! I'm gonna have Beastie Boys' 'Get it Together' stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Do a video on nearby Clearwater someday and the newly renovated 84 million dollar Coachman Park that includes the new Sound Amphitheater in the downtown area and last but not least the beach.
Ken is on his way back from his cross country trip yesterday he was in San Antonio haven't seen anything today figure he's thinking I-10 back to Florida would be cool if he went and stop by St Pete and you guys did a video together I think he likes St Petersburg
Yeah, it'll have to be in the next one! If you're around on Jan 20, come to my live show, where I'm interviewing Craig Pittman who won't forget to talk about the Pier! coastalcreativetv.com/event/tom-ds-big-florida-show/
Great video I like the New York videos but these are better in a way it would be nice if you could put the average weathers and humidity to put a context to how hot and humid and place can be and for how long during the year. That's if we do another place that's not Florida there's tons of cool cities well that would make cool videos with cool history
Thanks - if you're around Jan 20, I am doing a live show where I talk more history, host a couple of comics and interview Craig Pittman. Come! coastalcreativetv.com/event/tom-ds-big-florida-show/
Bro, you're hanging out at the Jungle Prada tavern and you didn't even tell everybody that Al Capone used to own that place and Babe Ruth got married there? SMH
Hmmm interesting, but the Russian original is better and more interesting. The original is UNESCO, this is just another American city, having nothing to do with the European original.

Sooo much to learn: it's teaching us to appreciate and understand where we stand, today.
What an interesting tour: beautiful history!
And you, keep on singing!🎉❤
I just saw you in New York!❤🎉
I am happy to see you, here!

I haven't been to there yet. Although I grew up going to Sand Key during the summers. I remember thinking there were no people my age!

Welcome to our neck of the woods, Tom!
The last time I was in St. Petersburg Tom was way back in 1975😮
Phil is with you! Nice

St. Pete's a great city. It's come a long way over the past couple decades. It's not just a retirement community anymore, thankfully.
Do a video on nearby Clearwater someday and the newly renovated 84 million dollar Coachman Park that includes the new Sound Amphitheater in the downtown area and last but not least the beach.

Yo Tom, was that you at the last Marc Rebillet stream in Flushing?
Would you be able to make a video on indigenous history in the country?
17:38😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope you’re having a good time Miss you in nyc Great history. Interesting. But it’s Florida… is it heavy Republican ??
No, St Pete is extremely liberal. They have the biggest pride celebration in Florida and a huge trans population.
Florida's still a state?
while you're in St. Pete, you should adopt the name 'tomdpie"... if you know, you know
L❤ve you
St Pete
Say no to the person who puts first on here
Bro, you're hanging out at the Jungle Prada tavern and you didn't even tell everybody that Al Capone used to own that place and Babe Ruth got married there? SMH
Great tour and history of the area. Too.bad you had to show the Scientologist
@@Flfreedom considering that they have buildings throughout the bay area.
@@lbindert well…if they have offices here in my city of st Pete and they pay the required property taxes…it’s legit.

Excellent video Tom, but PLEASE GET A HAIRCUT--PLEASE. The Charles Manson look is not what you want.
Stop with the haircut. I like his long hair! 🧚♀
Do you want him to look like like a boring businessman instead?
Your video was very entertaining and highly informative. I really enjoyed it:-) I loved all the exotic birds! 🦚🦢🧚♀
