We are all about to have a rude awakening. Some of us are old enough to remember the past. The younger generation has been so spoiled by the goodness of living in the USA, that they have no idea what is coming. They are about to see why our parents/grandparents drove cars until the wheels fell off. And why it was typical to have one car per family. And why young newlyweds weren’t automatically entitled to a fully furnished house. Or lavish wedding (Do y’all remember when a wedding reception typically occurred in the fellowship hall of the church? And the only food was wedding cake, mints, mixed nuts and punch?) A honeymoon might include a night at a hotel, or if they were really lucky they might get a weekend in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There weren’t restaurants on every corner, because people only RARELY ate out. They cooked every meal at home. Or packed a lunch for the road. And they never wasted leftovers. Picky eaters? You either ate what your Mama cooked or you did without. AND NO ONE CARED. We are about to rediscover potato patties, soup, hash, biscuit pudding, rice pudding and bread with gravy. NO FOOD WAS WASTED. People had few outfits. You had church clothes and play clothes. And you took care of those clothes. Holes were mended and it didn’t matter if you liked the clothes or not. You wore what you had. And people didn’t snack or eat all day long either. People were rarely overweight. Because they didn’t have an unlimited supply of food at their fingertips. People weren’t being constantly entertained. Kids played outside and made up games with their imaginations. No fancy vacations. There was no money for all these extras that we consider “Rights”. Maybe people will finally wake up and realize that it is a PRIVILEGE to be an American. And feel gratitude and quit being such entitled whiney babies. People shed blood and died to give us this life. AND WE ARE STARTING TO PROVE THAT WE DON’T DESERVE IT. This is spot on. Copied from a friend of a friend.
Hickok, love you man. But that is a .45 colt S&W snub nose revolver with an extended moon clip cut cylinder that allows the uses of both .410 shotshells and .45acp pistol rounds. It's properly designated as a "versatility/special use" revolver. Many mock it because it's only accurate beyond sight when shooting .45 colts. It's slightly less accurate with .45 acp only because the energy bleed off causes the bullet to tumble at a shorter range than when fired from a 1911. Also, .45acp will have a significantly reduced muzzle velocity, but some have clocked in cheap ammo at as low as 545ft/sec. Not ideal in some scenarios but of course, better than a pointed stick. This is an excellent personal defense weapon. you can also mix the ammo in the cylinder, following a shotshell with a .45 colt round or vice versa. It's very effective at the range it was intended to be used at. Point is, people mock it because they expect shotgun results, not taking into account the thing doesn't have an 18-inch barrel.
I love your video's always informative and entertaining also inspirational. forgive the pun but your always Straight Shootin' about the subject so I always trust what you say. Best to you and your future endeavors.
I got a Taurus Judge for home defense. I live in an apartment and have people living on ether side and above me so I had to take into consideration that I do not want to risk shooting through a wall or floor. I have it set up so the first two rounds are 410 gauge with number 9 bird shot and the next three rounds are 45 caliber long colt. The 410's are to get them to leave the apartment and the 45's are for if they are still moving after they get outside to try and get them to stop moving so it is easier for the police to pick them up rather than wait for them to show up at one of the hospitals.
it's not really a "shotgun" revolver and hikok45 shouldn't be calling it that, its a pistol with a chamber that happens to handle .410 rounds, you can get bird or snake shot rounds in nearly every other common revolver/pistol calibers as well.
3" 6 shot is just a blast. Got an old Roebuck/Higgins 101.25 (late 50s-early 60s) bolt action 24 1/2 barrel. 4, ready to go. Runs like a top. Its priceless to me. Not sure if it's still available but I remember a devestating concoction of copper disks on top of shot for .410.
@@Brimar7 I don't like the moon ring. It's very easy to bend and screw it up so you can't shoot any .45acp. However, the pistol does take .45 colt which is arguably a better cartridge.
@@Brimar7 Well, you don't need the moon rings. It shoots like some old western pistol but not as bad since the grip is rubber and the barrel is shorter. The .45 colt and the .410 shotshells are the only two I'll use.
That is a terrifying amount of fire-power for something you can hold in your pocket. Seriously, it’s both impossible to miss with or survive a 6 round volley of buckshot.
I just purchased a Taurus 605 .357 magnum pistol with a 2” barrel. Talking about firepower & recoil it shoots a ring of fire out the barrel & is very loud would not want to have to shoot indoors!!!!!!
I bought some of these slugs when I bought my governor awhile back. It is almost to the point now that you have to sell the governor to be able to afford a box of slugs.
These are awesome! I have the exact same one with a laser and it sleeps on my nightstand every night...I stagger the load...1 shotgun shell and 1 Hornaday 45 long colt (staggered).
The only right choice for ammo on the nightstand is federal 000 handgun buck. 4 wounds per trigger pull that do 16 inches in gel. 3 inch spread at 21ft.
If I was going to buy a revolver I would definitely get the Governor because it also shoots 45 ACP. I love that fact about the S&W over the Taurus. Such a cool handgun.
Yeah the Governor also holds 1 more shell, but they don't at present make a governor compatible with 3" 410 shells, and so I stick with the judge. I'd consider a governor if I could run my 3" 000 buck 5 pellet in it.
@@mikeprice8307 I suppose it depends on what you use it for. Different loads and so on, but a 000 buck 410 load, there is a 2.5" load with 4 pellets but most are 3, your 3" loads are generally 5 pellet. So 6x3 normal or 6x4 best, for 18 or 24 9mm ish holes respectively, the judge gets 25. When we talk more lead pellets of the same caliber we're not just talking about more holes either we're talking about more projectile weight, 25% more in the best case of the governor to 66% more with the more common 3 pellet loads, advertised velocity changes not a lot but a statistically significant amount depending on what load we look at but the 4 pellet 2.5" loads and 5 pellet 3" load are similar enough to say it wouldn't be out of line to say a 3" shot from the judge is 25% more powerful based on the mass increase. I don't know that the velocity increase in 3 pellet loads is enough to make up for the 66% increase in mass. So yes when we talk about the commonly available buck 000 buck loads it makes a significant difference. Other loads follow the same principle though if more mass in a 3" load then velocity tends to be fairly similar, and if equal mass then 3" shells tend towards a velocity advantage, either way gaining a pretty substantial amount of power on the side of a 3" chambered judge. As to single projectile cartridges, comparing 45ACP to 45LC, 45 ACP often has the advantage in energy, but there are other considerations when talking about using them in the same revolver since ACP is tested out of something without a cylinder gap or substantial throat, so those might even out in this context, I'll leave that to someone with a chronograph.
I would think this would be a good home defense weapon for a person living in an apartment where concern for rounds going through walls into neighboring apartments is a real issue.
Federal makes a 4 pellet 000 self defense load...Under 20 feet,, they stay together like The Blue Angels..My Governor goes out concealed with 3 in the front, and 3 .45 Colt in the back. Amazing gun.
@@ismarwinkelman5648 I don't know where S&W got that model..They should have called it "The Lion"...because after a cylinder full of that 000,, it looks like a angry lion got the target.
My Governor is my favorite carry gun. it's so light for such a big frame and extremely easy to conceal with the Sticky holster. Not to mention the Hornady Triple defense 410 defensive load holds a 2 1/2 inch projectile spread at 10 yards out of my particular fire arm is disgusting. at 20 yards it's only 6 inch spread with the slug hitting almost exactly at point of aim. Then I carry 45acp moon clips or 45lc with a speed loader as back up depending on if I'm wearing a belt or not. moon clips are my favorite but I don't like putting them directly in my pocket
@@kevinfogle7929 Yeah my governor goes wherever I do. I normally bring a secondary weapon with me as well. Sometimes I'll leave my governor in the car and only bring in my secondary with me if it's summer time and I'm wearing basketball shorts or doing something physical outside but for the most part I've always got it with me. And if I don't it's in the car and I've got one of my mouse guns like my shield 9mm or my Bond arms Grizzly 45
In the summer I'll carry my Shield 9mm as mv main carry and one of my derringers as a side arm or if I'm dressing for an occasion and I can't wear a baggy shirt. I've got pocket and inside and outside waste band holsters for all of my guns in my carry rotation. @@johnriddick3500 I've always wanted to buy one, but it never looked very practical for CCW in my eyes. I don't rotate my CCW, so if it doesn't look like it will work all four seasons I pass. I mean it is a N frame diameter with longer than normal cylinders.
I've been debating on buying a Lcr 9mm because it has moon clips and I absolutely love moon clips I'm not a huge fan of Simi autos even tho I like my Shield 9 I just don't feel as safe with it as I do my revolvers. I just like the reliability of revolvers. It would be a good back up carry for me since it's got moon clips I could use it with my belt set up that I use for my Governor and have 4 clips with me at all time for when I'm doing something physical and don't Wana carry around the governor. I can sit here and talk guns all day lol
The Governor is very versatile. The .45 G.A.P. was very accurate. The Silvertip load was the most accurate. The Federal 000 Buck is definitely my choice for self defense under 10 yards. The cool option is the 2 round moon clip which offers a choice of .45 ACP or GAP, Two .45LC and two .410 gauge loads. Federal makes a #4 shot load. I would look at the Hornady Critical Defense load in .45 LC and .45 LC by Lehigh Defense made specifically for the .410 revolvers.
Last October, Autumn's Armory played with a revolving shotgun using slugs. Y'all should collaborate on another one. Quick Strips has speed strips for .410s among other gauges & handgun calibers. The practice of blind rifling the first couple inches of a duelling pistol & leaving the inches closest to the muzzle smoothbore comes from when possession of a rifled duelling pistol was grounds for summary execution by the other party to the fuel. Fully rifled barrels were considered to give an unfair & ungentlemanly advantage to the user.

Another great video. Always enjoy Hickock videos. Thanks
Hi, where I live 410 slugs are commonly used in break open single shot, (south American)shot guns for pig hunting with dogs. Thanks for sharing Dave
C-I-L? Seriously.
Best channel about guns! We brazilian follow your videos 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
The governor is great, mine has never let me down since I bought it in 2013. Not my go to pistol but a excellent one.
This blew my mind. I love revolvers. I never knew they had a shotgun revolver. Amazing video and great personality.
it's not really a "shotgun" revolver and hikok45 shouldn't be calling it that, its a pistol with a chamber that happens to handle .410 rounds, you can get bird or snake shot rounds in nearly every other common revolver/pistol calibers as well.
@@snoopstp4189 Thanks. I really am just learning about guns.
Yep they do lol and I actually just got one today and I'm excited to try mine out I got some .45 longcolts for it
Another great video. I really like the versatility of my Governor. I keep it loaded with Hornady Critical Defense .410
Pdxdefender it's called.
@@leadfoot8593 That's the one. Vicious concoction of devastation. Needed 15yds to be fully appreciated.
Mr Hickok you are a legend, greetings to you and everyone reading this.
I own one and it’s actually a lot of fun and I love the fact it takes .45 ACP with moon clips
That's pretty cool. Thanks for the info
How does it shoot with the .45 rounds? Accurate?
@@Brimar7 I don't like the moon ring. It's very easy to bend and screw it up so you can't shoot any .45acp. However, the pistol does take .45 colt which is arguably a better cartridge.
@@sarcasticguy4311 How is it with the .45 colt?
@@Brimar7 Well, you don't need the moon rings. It shoots like some old western pistol but not as bad since the grip is rubber and the barrel is shorter. The .45 colt and the .410 shotshells are the only two I'll use.
45 thanks for what you do. I follow you. Now my 13 yr old following you. 45 you do make things interesting. Thanks again

God Bless you Hickok !!!
That is a terrifying amount of fire-power for something you can hold in your pocket. Seriously, it’s both impossible to miss with or survive a 6 round volley of buckshot.

@OnlyGod MayCommandMe Finally I can rob a bank through technicality
I just purchased a Taurus 605 .357 magnum pistol with a 2” barrel. Talking about firepower & recoil it shoots a ring of fire out the barrel & is very loud would not want to have to shoot indoors!!!!!!
THANKS HICKOK for another great video.
I bought some of these slugs when I bought my governor awhile back. It is almost to the point now that you have to sell the governor to be able to afford a box of slugs.
Hickok misses one out of hundreds and....of course it was old ammo. Haha! Great video as always 😊
Surprising how well you can see the slugs flying through the air.
My favorite TH-cam gun show!
These are awesome! I have the exact same one with a laser and it sleeps on my nightstand every night...I stagger the load...1 shotgun shell and 1 Hornaday 45 long colt (staggered).
lame
Lol
try the ar57 9in barrel. perfect for in house movement
Me 2, and I love it
The only right choice for ammo on the nightstand is federal 000 handgun buck.
@@AmaraTheBarbarian does it matter 3 vs 2.5"?
Yes, this is a close range tool. His skills push the limits of the gun's range.
Shoots unobtainable ammo, with a smile.😀
I see you there. I recognize what you did. Hickok- the GOAT.
Like the old paradox British guns a partially rifled bore toward the end to add spin to shotgun slugs.
Sr Hickok45 you are just pure amazing
Kudos for Hickok being such a good shot!

Well it isn't that easy / possible to get onto a range and have at it. I was just curious how the rather short barrel impacts the spread.
You are correct, the Bond Arms Darringer does have only about the last inch of barrel rifled in the 45/410.
I thought shotgun pistols were only in videogames. What a work of art.
That thing full of buckshot would be an intruders nightmare
Like CCW carry?
On very rare occasions I'll carry my model 19 SW 357 but that's really only if I know I'll be in the woods or on unfamiliar land

Currently in Korea for the year, let me vicariously live the Tennessee summer thru you until I get back in December, Mr. Greg.
Those slugs are spiraling a lot out to the gong!
410 Slugs? Madness. I love it!
Pretty good home defense weapon. You can scale your ammunition to avoid over penetration and/or put a slug in a couple of chambers. Mix n match!
Just make sure with 00 Buck that you don’t have anyone on the other aside of the wall.
love you grandpa 🎉

Last October, Autumn's Armory played with a revolving shotgun using slugs.
Y'all should collaborate on another one.
Quick Strips has speed strips for .410s among other gauges & handgun calibers.
The practice of blind rifling the first couple inches of a duelling pistol & leaving the inches closest to the muzzle smoothbore comes from when possession of a rifled duelling pistol was grounds for summary execution by the other party to the fuel.
Fully rifled barrels were considered to give an unfair & ungentlemanly advantage to the user.
Most fun in revolver you could have, love mine.
I have a Judge with a 6.5 inch barrel and .45 Colt is real accurate! The .410 is great home defense load especially the self defense loads.
