This video deserves thousands and thousands more views. The fact that it doesn't has nothing to do with the quality but of TH-cam's crazy algorithms. So well done! Entertaining and informative. Thank you for your efforts and look forward to more videos.
I have just discovered your videos. Great stuff. I am currently interested in the religious history of the Netherlands, and especially Frisian history. Thanks for these videos. In the late 80s I used to go fishing regularly near Oudega, bij Drachten, and occasionally saw a plaque which was to commemorate the brief clash between Bommer Berend''s Scouts and local militia. At the time I did not really know too much about that, but I thought it was interesting. Anyway - Fryslan boppe. Groetnis ut Engelan
Moin! I just wanted to say that your videos are really great, especially your Frisian series. As an Eastfrisian it's very interesting to learn more about you guys from the west :D. Also I know that your presenting Frisian history from a "West"frisian perspective, but I was wondering if you're going to cover the Prussian annexation of Eastfrisia in 1744. In my opinion, it's kind of the event that made us truly diverge from you guys and if I remember correctly, our estates actually wanted for us to be annexed by the Netherlands instead. In any case: Greetings from your eastern cousins and Eala Frya Fresena :D
Hey bedankt!
Het is verbazingwekkend I know.
Love the video. It should be mentioned though that De Witt never wanted to brake his alliance with France. He was forced into the Triple Alliance by the Orangists. He new he couldn't trust Sweden and England. Also, the Dutch Republic wasn't economically ruined. That would be caused by the Nine Years War (1688-97) and War of the Spanish Succession (1702-1713). Most parties where economically ruined by those wars. Would be cool if you covered them sometime
@@diogenes926 It didn't help, but the consequences of the Rampjaar are severely overstated. People often just ignore that the Republic suffered some 40 years of on and off conflict with France on a massive scale. The Rampjaar and Franco-Dutch War were just the start. People also don't know that the Dutch Republic was regarded as a major power until the War of the Austrian Succession in the 1740s
Underrated channel and history creators are always gigachads

Legend tegen legend
@@BackgroundHistory Oh en die thumbnail 😙👌magnifiek
The inclusion of east Frisia in a faded orange colour is a awesome addition because the influence of the Dutch was so high in the area.
This might be my favourite subject you covered so far!

Goeiedei, glad you enjoy the video's! I was planning on covering a bit more of the East and Northern Frisians soon!
@@BackgroundHistorythat sounds awesome!
Dikke video man!
Love the artstyle, severely underrated channel!
I love your videos. Bedankt!
Weer een zeer nette aflevering! Vraag: waarom is op 22:30 Ameland niet ingekleurd?

They weren't economically ruined, but the enormous expenses didn't help a nation that was already starting to stagnate.

1:26 you are sure that Louis wasn't called 'Van Gaal' of his last name?
Louis xiii should be given more credit to his centralization of power.
Mooi man!
Waanzinnig!
the french they come when you are on your knees
You say that but Louis went against everyone "taking Spain but fight the entire West Europe? Worth it throw in 300k men"
you did that first forming a coalition against france when they were destroying spain
GEKOLONISEERD
you really need to pronounce more clearly
