My grandfather's family name is Swarthout, or Zwartwoude in Dutch. I know that they were from Friesland, I was wondering what part, if any, they played in this part of Frisian history. Up until 3 years ago, I had never heard of Friesland, I knew that my mom's family said they were Dutch, but never heard of Frisian. It's very interesting, learning the history. Thanks for your channel!!

Wat een leuke video weer! Eén puntje: je spelt Franeker de hele tijd in het Fries als 'Frentsjer', maar er zit nog een j in: Frjentsjer. ;)
Oh ja je hebt gelijk! Had het eigenlijk even moeten dubbelchecken ook al is Fries mijn moedertaal. Blij dat je alsnog van de video genoten hebt!

Love the vids, but the Franco-Dutch War was not the end of the Dutch great power status. The Dutch lost that in 1748 after the War of the Austrian Succession
The official name is Fryslân. Not Friesland.
