O'Hare International Airport is a world class airport in design, but I know everyone's favorite part is Terminal 3 where you find Concourses H and K with flags on the hallway. That part of ORD Airport can even be seen in Home Alone as the McAllisters were running late.
@@MilesByFoot, I have to ask. When will you do another airport tour in the US? I was wondering if you can try reviewing other airports in the Eastern US such as ATL, IAD and even 3 airports serving the New York Metropolitan Area.
Speaking of Home Alone, in the early '90s, Terminal 5 used to be called Terminal 4 (WRONG INFO). I've seen one scene of Home Alone when the McAllisters were racing to the gate to a flight to Paris-Orly (ORY) where a sign shows directions to Terminal 4. Years after the early '90s, Paris flights were now moved to Paris-Charles de Gualle (CDG) because it's a mega world class airport like ORD that handles many destinations while ORY on the other hand is a large mid class airport that handles some destinations around the world.
Thank you so much for posting these videos! I love airports but I’m not able to visit them everyday so these videos brings peace and Joy, glad there’s someone who can bring contents like this to me 😃
Thank you so much for this! I'm a student pilot on my journey towards becoming a professional airline pilot, and I'm also based from Chicago so this hits close to home! I grew up traveling through O'Hare, now I hope to travel through it when I'll be a pilot. The ambience at O'Hare reminds me to not give up on my dreams. Thank you so much for this video :) 💜
I really miss the good old days before 9/11 when you could freely walk around airport terminals like this WITHOUT a boarding pass. I love airports, especially my home airport O’Hare. It may sound weird, but if I could, I would totally head over to O’Hare, go through security, and have a drink at one of the terminal bars or a meal once in a while…..even if I wasn’t flying anywhere.
@@MilesByFoot when I was a kid in the late 80’s and early 90’s I also used to love being able to walk right up to the gate to drop off and pick up relatives. I remember my mom was going someplace in January 2002. It was the first time I had been to the airport since 9/11. I had no idea at that point that you were no longer able to pass through security without a boarding pass. I remember being soooo angry that I would have to say goodbye to my mom right there at the security checkpoint and not be able to walk with her to the gate. 20+ years later I’m still angry that you need a boarding pass now 😂
I am a pilot student from Iran. The airport spaces is really beautiful and feels good to me. And the Chicago airport is really amazing in architectural with glass made ceiling. It's so crazy and liminality space❤❤❤thank from iran🇺🇸❤🇮🇷
your videos are amazing am flying in on denver air connect and needed to see where the gate was and a perfect walk right to it (g17) love these keep em up
this is epic thank you i love walking ohare its very enjoyable last time i was there i clocked 5.2 miles total when i did each terminal love airports and the atmosphere of em
I love your content. I have this weird nostalgia/home feeling for airports and these types of videos are so oddly comforting! Thanks for the effort, keep it up!
I remember going to the airport back in the 80's/90's and being overwhelmed with everything. I always wondered how my family knew where to go. Now, thinking back on this, it's still a bit confusing, LOL, but I've travelled a lot more. Great video!
This video was helpful. I’ve only had layovers at ORD, but in two weeks I’ll be checking in and flying out of there for the first time. I’m a little nervous. Many parts I haven’t seen, but now I have thanks to you!. I do have TSA PreCheck so that will help some of my nerves. My flight will most likely go out of terminal 1 or 2/B or F. It’s a United Express flight.
The old layout, from an operations standpoint, is not as efficient as the current one. United built these terminals as kind of a showpiece of their system - Chicago is where their HQ is. Personally they are my favorite part of ORD.
Thank you so much for this video! I am picking up my friend from from what the itinerary says is B12. Will I will be able to access that without going through security? I'm not flying out, just picking up. He does not speak English and has never been to a big city. I am so confused, and to be honest, a little overwhelmed. I have only been to O'Hare one time.
Before 9/11, it was possible to get to the airside terminal and gates, even if you didn't have a ticket. However, you won't be able to get past security without a ticket now. If your friend is landing in B12 (which is likely to change), he can leave security in Terminal 1. You can wait for him outside security in that terminal.
Who knows? My guess is a maintenance area; in that terminal, all gates have jetways, so passengers shouldn't need to go downstairs to board. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious, though.
I know there are a lot of people who hate this airport. I personally have a very special relationship with this airport and will be very very sad when all the traditional things are gone. I will say this though….if they change or get rid of the B/C tunnel….I’m gonna be PISSED! Adding on through the video, not many people know about that little tunnel that leads from E to F running behind McD!
I have experience at both extremes; when I was here in March 2022, security was pretty short, less than 15 minutes, I'd say. In the height of spring break a few years earlier, it was much worse, probably 45-60 minutes. The line spilled out into the landside terminal, and I barely made my flight!
The footage I got wasn't good enough to include, but if you go to 52:37, H1A is about 100 steps to the right of the camera. It's one of several gates at O'Hare that's located directly on the main terminal, not down one of the concourses.
I love the nostalgia of O'Hare; as airports become more uniform in design, I try to take the chance to treasure how some of the older ones look and feel :)
Chicagoan here, thumbs down because you walked on the moving walkway in the B/C tunnel. If you just stood on the right it'd be like 5-10 solid, effortless minutes of ASMR.
When this video was filmed, the mask mandate was still in place. Today, not many people wear masks while traveling, but it's still a good idea if you're not feeling well but still need to fly. :)

Great walkthrough video. Can’t wait to get back to Chicago in the spring. O’Hare is a beautiful airport.

You put so much work into these videos and I love them!
I love it too! ❤
I had way too much fun watching this! Thank you!
I'm so glad! :)
This is so helpful as I will be making a connection between terminal 3 and terminal 5 by using the Terminal Transfer Bus.
Great! It appears the transfer bus is indeed available again! I'll update that info on both videos :)
Awesome. Hope you do Atlanta sometime.
Might be sooner rather than later!

1:17:33 Why was Terminal 1 converted into two parallel halls? After all, when it was Y-shaped, the airport looked aesthetically pleasing

@@jpthompson09Wow, the airline itself built terminals for itself. Now it is clear

In March 2022!
The new ATS was just opened in 2022!

O'Hare is large (and old) enough that there's lots of little places people don't know about!
The B/C Tunnel's real name is Sky's the limit.
Wish you can do LAX next
My current LAX tour is older and only partial, and it's a top priority of mine to redo it completely some time soon!
How long did it take to get thru T5 security?

terminal 2 will be completely torn down and rebuilt and called the world terminal after delta and partners completely take over terminal 5
Thanks for the input! I hadn't heard they were doing that, but frankly, I think that's great news!
I'm excited for the new global terminal. The renderings are insane. I don't really fly out of terminal 2 and I'm glad I don't, it's so depressing lol

O’Hare needs renovations badly because the airport feels stuck in time.

Keep wearing those masks. especially when they are pulled down below your nose or chin. that really does a lot

America West. Not American West
When was this filmed? I don’t think it was 2023 because literally everyone is wearing a mask. 🙄
This was filmed in March 2022, shortly before the mask mandate was lifted.
the floor looks like a toilet ceramic, bad choice
Those floors are built for durability and ease of cleaning; to be fair, so are toilets! :)
My family and I are no longer to wear masks.
When this video was filmed, the mask mandate was still in place. Today, not many people wear masks while traveling, but it's still a good idea if you're not feeling well but still need to fly. :)
