    I had a mechanic fix mine. I thought it was a complex problem. Fortunately, he gave me the old part. Found out he got it from the junkyard. It failed the next day. Watched TH-cam to see this video. He easily said he would take $100. I was born at night but not last night. I went to AutoZone, spent $13 for a new replacement resistor. 2 minutes and I was done. The moral of the story; look it up on TH-cam before running for help

    Thanks for this quick lesson. I have an 07 Dodge Grand Caravan. The blower for the front has worked sporadically since I got the car. Today it ran from start up to half way thru the trip. Last week I experienced something I hope to never happen again.
    No front fan means no defrost. So I'm driving when the window starts to ice up on the inside. Tried wiping and clawing, it just got worse. Half way I took the windshield wiper blue solution and put it on a sponge. Using this to melt the ice enabled me to finish the trip but I'll say it was very difficult

    Mine was just loose and/or corroded electrical connectors on the resistor. I didn't even remove the glove box completely. Just undid the side retainers and dropped it down as Leo describes. With the resistor area exposed I unclipped the connectors and saw a little corrosion and some slightly melted plastic on the connector block. Sprayed them with penatrent and I am back in business. Got lucky. thanks Leo.

    Thanks for showing that the new version of resistor is the replacement for the old "boxed" version that shows separate coil windings. The idiots that make the new one (Autovalue) don't have a note with the new one that explains it is the replacement one. I hate to find out after I install the new one, making it unreturnable , that it is wrong! You dun good!!!! :-)

    • @danielstout5130
      @danielstout5130 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      fuse box is under hood by the battery. Remove cover. Diagram is on back of cover. Front and rear relays are side by side. They are black and pull out. If rear works try switching. If front doesnt work now, it's not the fuse. Use a 12 volt lighted circuit checker and check output from resister in back of glove box with the switch on high. If it lights up, not the resister, it's the blower motor

    • @danielstout5130
      @danielstout5130 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the relays in the fuse box under the hood by the battery. They are marked location on the back of the cover. One relay for front blower, one for the back. If the back (rear) blower works, switch the two relays. If it's the relay, Your front blower should now work and the rear not. If it still doesn't work, use a lighted 12 volt circuit checker and see if you have electricity going from resistor to the blower. If no, it is the resistor or a connection to the resistor. If yes, it is the blower motor itself. check videos to replace.

    I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Would this be the same for it? Is there a way to jump the resistor to force the fan to go to HIGH just
    to confirm its not the fan motor? Regardless of what speed I have the front knob set to I can just sense some very slight heat. I also noticed once
    I am on the road traveling I feel it coming out a little stronger but still no difference between any position on on the knob.

      P. Perez you could just be low on coolant. I’d check that first.

      Leo Wells Hanks for the info. I filled it up with coolant still blows cold air on my side every other vent blows hit air. I'm just worried I'll get charged an arm and a leg if I take it to the shop. It's hard to find an honest Mechanic. Thanks for your help and video!

      P. Perez on my van the driver and passenger side can have different temps. Only other thing I could think of is maybe both switches aren’t on heat. Or something that controls those switches is broken. Good luck! 👍🏼
