Truly amazing! Lemon Jelly is one of the best and one in a million. Their music is as enjoyable as it is full. I think that everyone that listens to it hears a little piece of heaven. Their music holds a special place for me and even in the worst of times it relaxes me. Thanks for posting and supporting great music!
Ohhhhhh, I was looking this song for 16 years and finally found it!!!!!, thanks to Spotify and it's related artist, was listening one by one, artist and their songs. I had to find it. 🙋💪💪💪💪💪💪
Same here. I remember MTV used to play it on alternative nation. Recently, I recognised the sample they used on a Netflix special about the space shuttle that exploded. I went crazy trying to find it. I was convinced it was by Tangerine Dream. Fast forward to this afternoon, amidst an argument with the wife, spotify randomly played the song in the background. Mid sentence I started shouting “oh shit! quick, check, Whats the name of this song?” Suffice to say, my wife wasn’t impressed.
The "point in the horizon" that you see in the beginning, is the same as the raindrop falling down, into the water in "Nice Weather For Ducks". It sees the ducks swimming in formation and circles and stuff, and then it sees its splash into/through it's reality/water. Space Walk is how it feels to be on the very tip of the raindrop that splashes into the water. This song describes how much that happens inside just one of these little drops. Our whole universe, is inside on of these drops.:)
I think that this song is a story of the astronaut. The "beautiful" experience that he has is the moment in his life that he achieves self-actualization, and all the important memories of his life that lead him to this moment rush into his consciousness. In one moment he saw a lifetime of experiences. The video begins with depictions of young childhood experience, followed by boyhood and then skateboarding as a teenager. Then the music changes, and it appears he spiraled into a hard and depressing time in his life. After that, he turns his life around, get married and I guess along the way became an astronaut. When he sees planet earth from space, that "point of light on the horizon", he sees the beauty of his own life, in harmony with the universe.
I'm pretty sure it's from the perspective of a space walking astronaut and he's in pitch black, then notices the light starting to creep around earth, and he witnesses the sun begin to illuminate the surface of the Earth. This experience is what he refers to as beautiful :)
I came here to express the same sentiment, I've been listening to this song for years, it has warmed me up when I needed it most on numerous occasions. Only for the past month however I've started to see it as more of a celebration of existance itself, than just the absolute fucking joy of experiencing something as beautiful as sun rising over Earth from orbit. It will always be one of closest songs to my heart, so full of love and wonder, it's pretty awesome to get to experience it and everything else. Did me a solid there, universe.
Awwe this song makes me think of when I go to the beach and sit there ona nice summer day with a nice breeze, nobody around, and watch and feel the waves touch my toes
I love how the cityscape and the endless power lines are called beautiful, too... nature is amazing, but can it compare with the things that humans have created?
you know when i first listened to this song in my car, i was sat in a car park with my feet up out of teh door waiting for my parents to get back, and i sat listening to this song with the sun setting a beautiful orange, and at that moment i felt enlightened its was like perfect, even though i was in a car park :P
I've never seen the video to this! Still got my Lemon Jelly postcards up on my wall from the concert in Manchester. Just....beautiful.... 1:51 makes me groooove....
Ed White (the guy in the audio) was the first American to 'space walk' (basically float in space) and was able to reach safely back on board. He however died in his next mission in a fire during launch. Rest in Peace Ed White
love their music but love their visuals just as much. Such a pitty they are almost entirely doing design work now. The sleave work on KY is just beautiful.
this video is cool and all, but i think this song is best experienced by closing your eyes and trying to imagine what YOU this spaceman is watching. I link this song on the album more because there is more radio communication at the beginning which really gives the listener a picture of an astronaut floating through space well...thats my two cents
I'd love to be able describe more eloquently why I love this song, but I think the best way to say it is in two words "just beautiful"
one of my favorite songs of all time. simplicity in that word... beautiful
This is how good it can get when designers produce music. fantastic stuff

I think the thing he's describing as beautiful is the potential and immense variety of humanity.
Awesome animation. I think all this is happening in the memory of the man in space.

I think that's enough to express how amazing this band it.

So was this the astronaut's life flashing before his eyes before he drifted off into space? That'd be a really sad twist.
