  • In today's video, we will build a P-51D Mustang plane in 1/32 scale from Revell company. I will show you how to improve the wheel bay with wires of different diameters and how to indicate unevenness on the surface. That unevenness stands out in Natural Metal Finish. I used metallic colors from the ISI series Super Metalic, Alcad II, and Xtreme Metal from AK interactive. I also show you how to remove the topcoat from Eduard decals
Hope you will enjoy the video.

I think, like previous posts on here, that the "uneveness" makes your build look even more impressive, as a mere mortal I can only aspire 😊 thanks for sharing.

You took a pretty basic Revell model & turned it into something quite impressive. I think that’s the best P-51 wheel well I’ve ever seen, & your stressed panel look is right on the money. Well done!

When I use metallic paints .
Even though it looks dry , I use White Cotton Gloves to prevent oil from my skin to get on the paint and interfere with the next step .
I use to build kits for people who didn't have the time or talent and for several displays for military museums .
But in all of my years of model building experience this is the first time I've ever seen decals with a removable top cover .

Your underside Photos look like normal hydraulic leaks acquired during combat maneuvers .
I once did a series of Ravel 1/48 scale SR 71's for a friend of mine who actually worked on them before they were decommissioned .
The thing is that I gave them a lite wash before I packed them up to take them to him .
He actually let me use the same paint booth used for the parts of the real SR 71's and other US Aircraft .
Well I forgotten to double check the models before I started to spray the last coat of flat clear and trapping some calcium deposits on the underside of the models .
Afterwards I placed them back in the box and left for his team office .
When I started to unpack the models one of his team was shocked to see the calcium deposit groupings on the underside of the model .
How the hell did you do that ? ? ?
I spent the better part of a week scraping the underside of that craft and this looks exactly like what I was working on .
How the hell did you do that ? ? ?
He never did believe that it was an accident .
Next they ( the entire team including the buildings CO ) took me over to see an SR-71 that was having the same repair job done same as the previously mentioned and although it wasn't calcium deposits from water but Fuel and hydraulic leaks and compared to pattern on the model to what was on the other side and yes they were pretty much identical .
    So long story short ( ha ! ha ! ) .
Sometimes a little bit of over do will give you a surprise result when compared to actual combat photographs .

Arrrgggghhh. You went to all of that trouble to fantastically detail the wheel bay, natural skin surface, different panel shades, etc and then didn't fill in the panel seams on the wings. NO P-51 had visable seams on the wings except for the gun bay, access panels, and cover over the landing gear mechanisms. They were all filled, sanded, primed, and then painted (wings that is). There are NO different panel shades on the wings. The paint was an aluminum laquer. Fuselage is correct.
