First person sensible enough to park his bike so if the side stand digs in and it falls down overnight it does not crush him! Not a good way to wake up in the night!
That is why we use small rectangular pieces of plywood for grassy areas. Problem solved.
I have watched several review videos of this tent system and all of them pretty much say the same thing., and I do believe that this would make a wise purchase. You however are the only one I have seen who parks his bike high side to the tent. I don;t think many people realize that if you do find yourself in a heavy rain, the ground will get soggy and eventually your kickstand will sink deeper and deeper into the ground until you have 600+ pounds of iron crashing down on you, even if you are using some type of kick stand plate. Well done sir.
my mum could make anything with needle and thread (and i was her 8th baby.) MY first tent she made with green canvas (she also made my first leather jacket i was 13).. Once in the 1970s when serious wind/weather hit our campsite.. the only tents still standing were our homemade CANVAS ones (ALL the chocolate brown and orange ones were destroyed..) her tents lasted over 35 years..

bravo... the first man i see on youtube who put the bike right to the tent. Even at the motorcycle trade fair, this was wrong until the employees were made aware of it and turned the motorcycle straight away.
I'm so surprised that no manufacturer has done this in Australia. We have so many companies that make great quality swags however this one is perfectly tweaked to be used for motorcycle camping. I love to support Australian made so please somebody get on board and make something like this! Looks bloody awesome
Mate I legit put my just my single swag on my bike, bit big but if you roll them up just right everything just works

Mine arrived yesterday and I spent my first night in it. Yes its bulky and you need a big cruiser to carry it but everything in this review is spot on! Luvvin it and can't wait to test it in bad weather 🤣

I always put tent on the kick stand side. More room and not on the hot exhaust side. Why do you feel this is the "safe side"? You think the stand will sink? I always carry a 4 inch diameter aluminum puck that goes under mine. If it's not on concrete that puck goes under the stand
this review convinced me to buy a toucan. Can't wait for it to come in August! Hopefully it fits on my scrambler icon 😂

Wow, you answered every question I could have had! I was sold the moment you pointed out how the canvas won’t burn/melt easily like the nylon “backpacking” style tents that everyone sells!! My last two tents were melted by drunks riding into them in Sturgis, and then fireworks out in the dunes lol! Great video, now I have to have one of these!!

Yeah, that´s right. I was a guest at Momoka Japan, and it was so fun. I would love to go on a motorcycle trip in Japan. That would be a dream come true ;-)
Love the look of this tent. I had switched to a hammock, but there aren't very many trees at rallies (or in the desert) I think this is a better option all round. Time to start saving.
For sure, Dan! I love a good hammock, but when on rallies or camp sites in norway, there´s not many trees around. I´m not the one selling these tents, but I will guarantee that you´ll love it! Now they have done some changes to it, after some of mine and others feedback, so now it´s even better for windy and colder weather ;-)
Great review mate. I have a goose and I think it’s awesome! I’ll be doing my own review as soon as I can. They have so many positives, too many to write in one comment. But one of my favourite things about it is like you mentioned, the fact it stays warm in the cold weather and cool in the hot weather. Last summer out on the road when I was camping in England I found myself chilling in my goose during the hottest time of the day to get out of the red hot sun, you can’t do that in a conventional tent because you’ll just sweat even more! i have been arguing with myself weather to get the goose or the toucan and after watching this video i definitely be going for the toucan 1 encase i get lucky at a rally and 2 i wont of spent alot of money on a tent then hate it because its to small and this is a hell of an investment
I've talked to several people that got the goose, and almost all of them regretted not buying the Toucan. I'm very happy with my Toucan and the extra space, though it is a small tent, it gives you the space you need every night 😁

If they didn't sponsor you they should. Very good point about replacing the mattress pad. No one has mentioned that. I'd probably get an air mattress with a built in pillow. It would probably pack down a lot smaller. Love the canvas. Another good point about soaking the tent to waterproof it. It gets a bit hard when it dries but after the initial roll up it relaxes.

I usually bring my Jetboil for cooking. But this past season i tried out The Road Kitchen, which is a new item from Wingman Of The Road. And i loved it. Its a bit heavy and maybe just a little big for some people. But I had no issue fitting it in my panniers. I also brought a foldable chair. What a game changer!

Before I'd dismissed this tent for a few reasons, I wasn't sure about the comfort I'd get from the sleeping bag & system. After watching this review I can now say that its gone up in my estimations & I'm seriously considering getting one.

Hey Syvert! Beklager for sent svar. Yes, dette teltet er helt perfekt for norske tilstander. Jeg har fått vite at de har gjort noen utbedringer, blant annet på grunn av mine anbefalinger, så om man kjøper telt nå vil man få et ENDA bedre telt enn jeg har ;-) Løp å kjøp :-D
That thing is massive..So many better tents out there for motorcycle camping.Although i do like the fact its single wall and how simple it is to set up..
I have to disagree with some of your comment. 😊 There's definitely NOT "so many better tents out there for motorcycle camping". Yes, you can find lighter tents. But that doesn't make it better 😉 Wingman of The Road tents is by far the best quality, easiest to put up and most comfortable I've ever come over. You should really try one before judging it by its size when rolled up 😃 Enjoy your camping 😎🤘🏼🏍️⛺
@@HawkonRides ok fair enough. It does look like a good solid tent but i adventure camp in some pretty remote areas here in Canada. If i carried a tent that huge with me i would have no room for other necessary items..Not to mention the weight would seriously effect the handling offroad.I guess it just depends on what type of riding your planning on doing..
@@TheMarky26 yeah... I don't do much remote and offroad riding with my Harley 😉 But I know people who do. And they bought The Goose. That's smaller and lighter 😊

Excellent video! This looks like the tent for me! Just one question, if it rains and the tent is wet when you roll it up, does the mattress and sleeping bag not get wet if they are rolled up in a wet tent all day?
Hi Grant. Thanks for liking my review video 😃 That's a good question. I have never encountered that the sleeping bag and mattress have gotten wet. But I try to let the tent dry off as much as possible before I roll it up. So I can't say it won't happen but it hasn't happened to me. At least not yet 😉
just for info there is a hook undernead the triangle for your helmet
Not on the model in this review, Max S. They mounted hooks under there on the later upgraded models. 😉 So if you buy a Toucan today, you are right. Now it's hooks in both ends 😁

Any problems with this riding on the holdfast luggage rack? The weight limit on those things is like 10lbs and i just want to make sure someone has traveled with the wingman or tucan before i buy one and throw it on there only to have it fall off and damage my bike or cause an accident.
Hi Riley. I put my Toucan on the back of the seat. Haven't got a very big luggage rack on my Harley. So i wouldn't know the correct answer to your question. BUT I've seen many different sized motorcycles with these tents on the back, and it seems to work in perfect harmony 😉 Send a mail to Wingman Of The Road to hear what they have say. I'm sure they will find out the right answer 😀
Got mine yesterday size is frighting at first but I ride a big St1300 so it fits ok. What's it like to roll up when wet?
It look VERY big when new. But keep calm, it will get slimmer and slimmer the more you roll it up. A tip is to not tighten the tarp your tent is rolled in too much. Just enough to "close" the sides. This makes the roll a bit wider but much slimmer 😉 Just give it a shake to get rid of excess water, roll it up and go 😃 Set it up when you get to wherever you're going and let it dry as much as possible 😉 Most importantly - do not store it away while wet.
@@HawkonRides It really is the best tent. I used it a couple of times already and I simply ditched the top box off my bike because I used to put my sleeping bag etc in there anyway (now I don't have to). Thanks for that tip it helped a lot and you are correct it does soften up a bit after a few uses. Can only get better eh?
Great video Hawkon. I watched his video over a year ago and bought a Toucan. I love it too. Did the extra loop straps that are riveted to the cover come with yours, or did you add them. My tent didn't come with them. Thanks and stay safe.

I have not added anything to my tent. Everything you see in this video is as it came to me out of the box. But - I do believe they added those leather loops after their first batch. So maybe I got lucky and they sent one of the first with them on it. And maybe they sent out the ones without them so they wouldn't be stuck with a bunch in stock. This is just a thought, I really have no idea. 😊

Sleeping bag useless in the cold British climate. Also rolls up to a huge size. I always take a Tarp with me for an awning and a compact 3 man tent.
Do you just drop the bike cover to go riding during the day and then return to put it back up?
Hi Glenn. Thanks for stopping by my video 😊 That's absolutely a perfect option if you are planning on having a base for multiple day trips. Just padlock the zippers on both sides, to make it less interesting for a brake inn 😉

I have notice that you are in love with your toucan tent :) I'm starting to plan a long trip with my motorcycle, and I was wondering whether if you would recomend the goose tent (I'm running out of space so probably the toucan will be to big, but still I think that this tent offers nice features). Having tried only the toucan, do you think that the goose would loose significan confort or is still suitable for such a trip?
Hi Guillem 😃 First of all, thanks for stopping by my channel. I really appreciate it 😁🙌🏼 The Goose tent has exactly the same features when it comes to comfort as the Toucan, just a bit narrower. 70cm instead of 90cm. And of course the hight inside is a bit lower. But it has the same type mattress and sleeping bag of course. On the other hand I know Wingman of the Road has made some serious changes to the Toucan. Check out their website for more information 😉

@cptntwang When I tie the cover before I roll it, I don't tie it too tight. Just enough so both sides are protected for against rain. This make the finished roll a little bit broader and won't make it uncomfortable sitting in the seat 😊 Hope this is understandable 😉

That depends on how you look at it. 😁 I deliberately put the tent on this side. If the bike aught to fall during the night, it will fall away from me instead of on top of me. And I'd prefer it that way 😉

Thanks Marta :-D It would be guessing, but The Goose tent wich is a little bit smaller I believe would fit just fine. The Toucan might be too big for comfort while sitting on the bike. ;-)

I know you talked about it a bit, but I wanted to ask anyway:
I am a bit concerned how the tent works when I have to roll it up wet after or in the rain and set it up the following night and this maybe a couple of nights in a row. I guess a one point the insight might get soaked, too. Do you have an experience at what level it might become critical?

Hi miniguck. Thanks for your nice feedback and your great question :-) When I have had to roll it up wet I´ve zip locked both sides, keeping the zippers under the little flap at the top of the tent, beneeth the extendable pole. Then i shake off as much water I can. And of course put it back up as soon as I find a new campsite. I have not experienced water inside the tent yet, but then again, I haven´t been in the worst rainstorms of all man kind either ;-) What I have experienced is that when I´ve packed it down wet, it hasn´t been as wet when I´ve put it back up after a day of riding. So I guess some air can get in the roll while riding. Enjoy your riding, and feel free to ask me anything if you have more questions :-)

Thanks for stopping by my channel and video 😃 If you close both sides and the short walls where the wents are, it'll be pretty much pitch black, yeah. 😊 If you put the went walls like I do in this video, some light will come in, when it's light outside, of course 😃 Where do you ride mostly?

13kg is'nt too much for a bike ride? i fell like it does'nt leave space for other luggages
Maybe for some. But not for me and the Harley-Davidson Super Glide Sport I'm riding. Can't feel the weight at all. And I have two panniers and a big sissybar bag. So I have plenty of room. On this summers 1 month trip I actually had too much with me. Meaning I never used everything I brought 🤣 For me riding mostly in Scandinavia, this tent is absolutely the best for the weather and temperatures. But I respect that other people want other kind of tents. I'm not selling this, I just made a video sharing my enthusiasm for a product I fell in love with. 🤩 Hope you find a tent suitable for your needs, brother. Ride Safe - Ride Far 🤘🏼😎

@@HawkonRides yep i mean when riding with a passenger. The tent clearly get all the space in the passenger seat, andi fear it's too heavy and bulky to be mounted on the luggage rack, It could even break.

I know that if you ride like a Harley-Davidson Ultra or something big like that, you can strap the Toucan or the Goose tent on the top box. That way you can still have a passenger.
If I would take away my sissybar luggage and put on a higher sissybar, I could easily put the Toucan upright and strap it to the sissybar. My luggage rack weighs way more then the Toucan. It's all about how YOU like to ride, what can you go on a trip without or how can you pack differently?

That's kinda what the name Toucan says, two-can 🤣 I've never tried being two inside. Just got the bigger one to be as comfortable as possible when out on a long haul 👌🏽 Tips: When you tie the four strings together, don't tighten them too much. Just enough so the sides fold inward a bit. Then when you roll it up it's a bit wider but doesn't take up space on the seat as much.
@@HawkonRides cheers i keep that in mind might unpack and pack a few times to get the best pack away size yeah this tent is size of a single bed in width dident get it for 2 up got the larger so i was not kicking my self for not going bigger if i had gopt the small one done this mistake with tents befor i cant belive how much light black out they is used nylon tents for so many years you dont realise

Hi there, Paul. 😊 This tent is approximately 7 feet 1 inches, so you should be good and comfortable. I'm about 5,9" so I even have room for a lot of luggage inside. Lucky me I guess 😁

@@paulcummins5231 absolutely! 😃 I've used mine SO much, and everytime I put it up it looks like it's straight out the box. 😊 The most important thing to do, and I do this maybe a couple of times during the season just to be sure, but especially before first time use, is to water it down with a hose. Then let it dry in the shade. This process will expand the fibres and make it water resistant 😉Happy camping brother ⛺

It fits perfect on my ride. Gives me the best backrest while riding. They also have the smaller one, the Goose. That one is smaller and would fit nicely on a smaller motorcycle like a scrambler for example.
Great video. But what a terrible tent... i have camped many times every day in different locations and this tent would be terrible to set up everyday, and it takes soo much space on a motorcycle and once set up doesn't give u much sleeping space.... i would absolutely avoid getting this, there are so many options available....i have decathlons 2 SECONDS EASY tent - 2-PERSON - FRESH&BLACK. And me and my friend absolutely love it

I would hate to think of what would happen if a storm wind blows the bike over.
Well, luckily we don't have that bad weather over here in Norway. But when the winds blows bad, I usually tigh down the bike too. And I always, ALWAYS put up the tent on the opposite side of the kick stand. So if it would fall, knock on wood, it will most likely fall away from me 😉
@@HawkonRides Just be careful and be aware that it could happen. This past summer I had my Harley Davidson Road King blown over by a storm with gusty winds. It was on paved level ground, on the kickstand, and blew over opposite of the stand. It can/does happen.
@@GJM866 I'm glad you care for my well being, thank you. But I feel I take the necessary precautions if it gets windy. Like tighing down the bike. Also, these tents doesn't have to be connected to the bike. You can set it up where ever you want, just like a regular tent. 😊 #ridesaferidefar

How do you mean I imply they sent it for free? As I say in the video, I baught the tent just like any other customer. And THEN they sent me the tent, just like any company would, after you pay for their products 😉 I hope this was helpful and understandable to you.

Way to big
I can understand that it seem to big for for some. Depending on what kind of motorcycle you ride. This is the biggest tent they've got. But if you ride like a café racer or something, the Goose tent is perfect in size. Check it out o. Their website if you like 😊 Oh, and happy new year 🎆
So you'll have to ride a brick like yours to even fit one. I prefer to ride a real bike, and have place for my trusty woman. And why in the world woult you have a two-person tent if your better half have to take the train. Besides a hotel is always better than a tent.
I guess you and me are two different types of riders. I enjoy living beside the road or off the beaten track. Hotels are not a part of my journey when I'm on a month long haul. That's why I enjoy the extra space in this "2 person" tent, wich I would not prefer to be to person in. It's quite a tight squeeze 😊
