They'll return when Spacex goes up there to bring them back.
I don’t get why any of this should even be an issue. Orbiting just above the Earth and even going to the moon are hurdles that were crossed 55+ years ago using less technology than what exists today in my cell phone. Go figure

I guess ya had to be there.
As I stated once before they are not breaking new ground. All this has been done with less technology than my cellphone so this shouldn’t even be happening. Clearly someone dropped the ball

Since you can't infer like a normal person the report is precisely that nobody knows the answer to that question. It's alarming news since it involves the Starliner crew being stranded in outer space. It's reportable because they're humans in potential danger.
Best guesses are around a year after they run out of food,water and air. There will be a post mortem celebration of their return to earth. NASA has it all worked out. 👍
Boeing should be ordered to pay SpaceX to recover those two astronauts, since Boeing's own spacecraft is clearly junk.
