Hi buddy, I have had an 8freight for the last 2 years, got it third hand. Slow to begin with but goes just as fast or slow with 100kgs on the back. I have had a washing machine in it or 5 bicycles stacked up and tied together. Usually though it is as Mike says, a runabout, very handy. I usually have a child car seat strapped into the back and can fit a weeks shopping around and under the little fellas legs! Does everything except go around corners!
Nice little video! Very informative. I've been riding 8 Freights for 10 years now, I can't imagine life without one. Good to see Mike looking well and the workshop looking pretty much like I remember it... As well as being able to carry massive loads, they also make decent longer distance machines - just did London to Oxford in maximum comfort, with nothing more than a broken spoke - entirely my fault due to thrashing down the Chiltern Hills :)
We operate the largest fleet of 8 freights in Oxford, UK delivering hundreds of thousands of items a year! More than welcome to come drop in one day 🚴💙📦👍
Seeing Mike reminded me that I haven't seen a shipping notification for his book I ordered last month. Pretty keen on having a look through it at some of his not favourites.
I got my book in the mail today. It could easily be ten times the size it is as it's doing Mike and the bikes an injustice not to have a lot more info on a lot of the bikes.
Hey! You should see if you can try the iris E-trike from Grant Sinclair (nephew of Sir Clive Sinclair that made the Sinclair C5!). They are looking for more exposure and they are also in the UK! I think it could be one of the most promising electric velomobiles.
You might visit a company called Workcycles when you need to go visit the Netherlands. They have a fr8 model, a development of the humble Dutch bike...
Could tel he was a legend straight away
I really enjoy Mike Burrow's chats, I could listen to him all day. Thank you for posting :)
What a fantastic mind ! Please keep doing episodes with Mike . Thank you .

SO happy to see an 8 Freight in action!! I can NOT fathom how this design is secondary to the bakfiets style!! Bravo Mr. Burrows!
What a man!
Love that guy!

One of our 8 freights has nearly hit 100,000 miles over 8ish years too!

Great book!
Thats one useful ride.
I actually built a version of this myself, in homage! Love the concept!
I gotta see if I can dig up a picture of my rear cargo bike, my first bike ever constructed, inspired by the 8 Freight.
Righty fork opposed to Lefty.

Tried age's ago, no joy. Was told they have enough people lined up.
