    It's beautiful. My brother, who retired a Lt Colonel, used to fly the Voodoo. I was a child but I sure remember that plane. My brother gave our mother an 8x10 picture of the Voodoo with him sitting in it, helmet and full dress. It hung on her wall until she passed away. He had just landed I think.

    Looks like someone ordered a 55 gallon drum of MoJo and the delivery guy showed up with 2 - 55 gallon drums of MoJo! Watching you build this aircraft reminded me of my father who introduced me to scale modeling. No airbrush, painting parts on the sprue. I think you did a beautiful job on this aircraft! And trust me my friend, look at the views you have received in just 2 days!!!! You give people all over the world a gift of love everytime you build and post one of your video's. I check almost everyday to see if you have another build, looks like there's a lot of people that do the same thing. May God continue to bless you, and I thank you.

    the best thing here was a clear tutorial, thanks. I'm from Romblon, Philippines and I'm back with this hobby upon my son Miko gave me F-22 Raptor, 1/72 (ITALERI) as Christmas gift to me. I'm beginning to build it again and I'm back with my passion.

    The Voodoo was complex and difficult for a lot of pilots during that time to master it and qualify to fly it. It was way ahead of its time. A lot of advanced electronics. But the pilots that did fly it loved it.

    Absolutely stunning build, my friend! Did you know that you were one of the first people who influenced to get into the hobby? I started out with no airbrush. Just like you did. With this remarkable aircraft. next month marks one year that I've been building models, exactly. I can't thank you enough! What a fantastic time I've had. It also helps with battling my demons. Thank you! God Bless and keep you.

    I just started to built the Voodoo and found your vid. For sure i´ll get those AK metal stuff, that looks really great. I´m not perfect and sometimes i just want to throw a kit out of the window, but you built with heart, fun and passion. That counts on our hobby. Keep on and cheers from germany.

    Well done! This model in 1:48 was probably the last model I built in the late 80s. Yours turned out much nicer. Back then I was limited to whatever few Testors paints and supplies my local store carried and being pre-internet I was self taught with the exception of what I could glean from the occasional copy of Fine Scale Modeler magazine I managed to find. Videos like yours give me the inspiration to gather up some higher quality supplies and try my hand at it again. The 101 wasn't my best work, that distinction was to a heavily weathered winter camo F-4 and A-10 I did, but it turned out ok for what I had to work with in terms of supplies and talent.

    Alex so glad you are back! Great model. As a child I saw these aircraft in this paint scheme when they were in the Texas Air National Guard. Yes, the TANG. It was a popular orange drink in that era. So it was also a bit of a joke. I knew a fellow who flew the F-101 for the TANG, and he hated it. The voodoo was unstable in roll, and it was easy to get into what was called a dutch roll, where you could not damp out roll motion easily. He lived for the day when his squdrn moved from the F-101 to the F-4 E. I love that you put the genie on board. Go nuclear!

    • @AlexModeling
      @AlexModeling  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TalksWithDirt Thank You! i read a lot about the Voodoo and they talked about the instable factor that he had... those days a few jets were not very reliable (f-104 starfighter) but they were on duty because of the rate of climb and speed wich was usefull to intercept Russian Bombers... always glad to watch your comments man! thanks

    My favorite model a/c. I lived 3 miles from Langley AFB, which had a bunch of them in the early 60's and I loved the elegance of the design, It was used in Vietnam mostly for reconnaissance.

    My favorite fighter. Thank you for the video! So very instructive. I'm doing research before starting to build my 1:48 scale F-101 Monogram model with an RF-101A/C conversion kit. You've convinced me to order the AK Interactive True Metal Paints.

    AlexModelling:
    Liked the way you build those kits.!!!
    (Music too loud.!!)
    I started my first kit, a Lindberg Line "quarter scale", in 1958, it was, (and still is - in mint condition in my shelves), a Chance-Vought F7U-1 "Cutlass", (in blue plastic).
    My second and thirt models were the Frog 1/72, D.H. "Venom", and the Gloster "Meteor" F.8.!!!
    I still have ALL my models and theyr BOXES, since then.!!!!
    I think I have more than 1000 models.!!!
    And, like you, I almost do all the paiting with brushes.!!!!
    Kudos to you, and thanks, from the land of the Cross of Christ too.!!!!

    Such a cool plane! We had one on static display at my old AFB Bregstrom. Plus we had the F-4RC phantom flying around every day. That was back in the mid 80's, they closed down the base a couple of years after I got out in 91.

      +Hekuboshi going brother going.. one day at a time! i still look at the kit you gave me... i have 2 options, a complete build without the clear parts showing or showing the interior... and i just don´t know were to "begin"... i think its one of those kits that when i get my own space i will do slowly:) what have you build lately?

    • @hekuboshi
      @hekuboshi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will get built when it's time to get built, no rush. I've only painted a few figures lately, actually posted a video of one of them last week. I think I'm going to build a 1/72 He 111 soon that my wife bought for me.

    i'm relatively new to model building. I'm starting off again after not building a model since middle school. I am determined to make my Airfix 1:72 P-51 look as authentic asI can make it. My ingenuity has gotten better with age it seems. As an idea I tried using household drywall spackle to fill the seam lines. Worked pretty dang well in my opinion. I love watching thee model builds to get better ideas for how to do things more efficiently os I figured I'd give my 2 cents back.

    • @AlexModeling
      @AlexModeling  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +joe leder its a good idea to use referêncie material to build your model. Im sure you will do it justice and that P 51 will look awsome

    Very nice job. I do have one comment. I worked on the F 101B for several years while on active duty and I never saw one in bare metal finish. I've seen As and Cs in bare metal but never a B. Aside from that it looks great.

    • @AlexModeling
      @AlexModeling  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ITwas grey right? i was trying on this one to use those versions metal color in order to practise paneling and riveting:) but yes.. absolutly right! So cool it must have been to work on such an amazing machine:)

    • @billkunert7281
      @billkunert7281 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was grey. I worked as a weapons control technician on the airborne weapons system(MG13 radar), This was before integrated circuits and everything was vacuum tubes. The weapons system weighed around 2000 pounds. The highlight of working on the 101 was getting a 2 hour ride in one.

    On the True Metal from AK, step 1. APPLY.... 2. LET DRY 3. Polish & then SEAL with matt or gloss varnish? Is that the proper procedure? As you can see, I was re-watching this build for the , oh, I don't remember...probably 10th time!!! I swear, I never get tired of watching your builds. You are very talented my friend and your way too hard on yourself. This model looked FANTASTIC! As far as the riveting, you'l get better and better the more often you do it, I promise. All the best to you and family, God Bless my brother,

      AlexModeling That's the thing. The real trick to advertising is not trying to shove product down a users throat, but to inadvertantly use the product and make them envious. Nicely done ! , I have one in my stash also.
    That's the thing sometimes when a kit is done, it could have been better , but hey ,make the best of it !
    The builder is always his own worst critic !

    This is Revell AG's offering of the very nice Monogram Voodoo from back in the day but now with Oregon ANG markings. I'm gonna have to snag this kit when I can, just wish it had more decal options.

    Great job Alex. I'm building that kit too and it poses quite a few challenges- poor fit of the cockpit tub, weapons bay, intakes and wing roots, and the lack of locating holes for the main gear and pitot tube. I can see why it took you 3 months! Still it does build into a good model of a majestic aircraft.

    i like the heat stains on the rear the most, very nice metal finish alex! looks like a very nice plane, i´m not very familiar with it. that made the video even more enjoyable because it was a nice change from the stuff i usually do or see.

      obrigado Cesar.. pintado a mão. a cera é exelentemas tens de a "selar" logo com verniz.. com o tempo ele tende a perder a cobertura e o brilho mas se a selarea logo é impecavel!

    Good looking build and you're to be congratulated for completion of it. However as much as I hate to point it out I believe that the overall color for the aircraft for the marking option you used should be overall ADC Grey and not natural metal. Other than that I enjoyed your build video and especially was interested in the AK products and Tamiya's washes. Keep up the modeling. 👍😊
