@@ViolinMD Perhaps you should post videos about your lunches. I am trying to major in neurology, endocrinology, and nutrition. I have three hours of college credit in basic nutrition and still have my textbook and I study other medical subjects in my spare time.
I hate mayonnaise and mustard; so I use my homemade garlic lentil hummus as a sandwich spread and pinot grigio on salads. Perhaps hospital staff could bring their own produce and condiments for vending machine sandwiches.

We’ve all had imposter syndrome at one time or another because we’ve always seen someone else in a senior role but then it came time for us to be entrusted with that responsibility. And typically, we come through with flying colors because we do know what we’re doing and the powers-to-be were right, we were ready. Siobhan, you’re an awesome doctor who is thorough and caring for your patients and your team which is going to make you a phenomenal leader.

    • @lifewithcassie9749

During your residency you basically have more responsibility each year as you learn more things hands on. I believe senior residence are completing their final year of residency and teach the new med students while still having a full doctor as a boss themselves.

TMI WARNING LOL...I was in 2 different ER’s the other night.. the first ER gave me nausea medicine and anxiety meds.. didnt test my urine at all... i went to a different one since i still felt awful a few hours later.. and the second one tested my urine as soon as i was passed to the back.. turns out i had a really bad kidney infection.. so bad that they were surprised i wasnt peeing blood.. LOL sorry for all the details but... just crazy to see how 2 different ERs work..

    • @eternitydoor

glad you went and found treatment. Kidney infections are nasty, super painful at times and make you feel absolutely awful. And if they aren't treated you can end up very sick and also it can leave lasting damage especially if repeated. I've got a disability so I have them often and as a result I have a damaged left kidney.

Arkhitektz I wouldn't trust Indian doctors! I've had one who was useless and who also was actively looking for ways to get my kids taken off me and admitted it to my face as since I was autistic I wasn't good enough in his eyes to have kids. Don't trust them now and actively warn people away from this still practicing doctor in my town

You relate with me so much rn - you're my hero! Working code *_and_* living the life of a night shifter.
Rarely do ppl understand what that life is like until they've lived it - living our lives *_opposite_* of the daytime/regular business hrs ppl.
Sometimes, I do wonder though - how did our parents/previous generations do it _before_ 24-hour supermarkets, superstores, ATMs, etc.
Even still, there are still something's that need to be done in the daytime, and having to disrupt your regular sleep schedule around it is so painful sometimes.
And if you're on-call and happen to get called in that night, or your normal day off, well... *_damn!_*

When I was last in the hospital (about a year ago) I was talking to a nurse anesthetist late at night (for a procedure I was having early the next morning) and somehow we got on the topic of food. I offered him a pack of Oreos and he said it made his night.

What the general idea within the medical community in your area on the "opioid crisis"
Im just curious how ot may differ from the US. As someone who depends on these meds to function after a REALLY bad accident i have found it to be a headache, if not impossible to find treatment these days.

I have many questions after this video! Since you are a second year medical resident, do you not do 26 hour call shifts anymore? What is the difference between on call and night float? Do you get a call room for night float or are you expected to be up all night? Love love love that you are making these videos! I have always been curious about this side of the medical field!!
