I am 25 years old and currently very busy writing my master thesis in engineering. By pure chance I found this video 5 minutes ago and now, after 14 years, I've re-downloaded Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Time. I will play all night. I need emotions, not a degree.
wow this was a really out of left field recommendation from youtube whenever someone asks me what my favorite instrument is, i always say ocarina. i was properly introduced to the instrument through majora's mask [not ocarina of time, funnily enough] and the game had such a heavy focus on death/departure and the acceptance of it. i remember several years ago, before my grandfather died, i played the song of healing for him. on one hand it was a silly little thing i did for the slight hope that maybe it'd make something happen, on the other it was because i knew i was going to have to say goodbye to him. if i had to do that, i might as well play a song meant for easing the souls of people that are passing or have passed. PMD2 had a similar theme of accepting final goodbyes, but it was nowhere near as bitter and definite. it was never a sense of finality. but even then, every time i hear this song, it provokes something within me. music in and of itself is something that's always managed to make me feel all sorts of emotions, it always jogs memories of things i wouldn't recall otherwise. hearing this, it really hurt. it's a good kind of hurt.
ya.. Majora's Mask is acceptance of death. this game... its practically screaming the painful truth that is death. in the final scene, you won. but both you and your character knows that because you stopped Dialga's transformation, you would stop existing due to you being from that erased universe. you dont want to say goodbye. but your time has come; Like it or not you will get Paradox'ed.
Everyone in this comment section just got the perfect recommendation at the right time it seems. I've never seen this channel before, and I don't remember the last time I saw an Ocarina cover. But earlier today I decided to go back and listen to some Mystery Dungeon music and of course, this song came on. I'm glad TH-cam hit me with this recommendation, this cover is beautiful!
Emotional Damage. This song brings up so many memories for me. PMD2 was my first spinoff (along with Ranger) and the first Pokémon Game I beat, hearing this brings me back.
LITERALLY YESTERDAY I was thinking about how much the original version of this song reminds me of Joe Hisaishi's composition style and this cover amplifies that tenfold This is AMAZING
The youtube algorithm had been reccomending a bunch of covers of I Dont Want To Say Goodbye/Dond Ever Forget lately and I gotta say this might be the best one
i dont know who you are, ive never seen any other of your work, but my god am i glad i was recommended this by the algorithm, i only wish it was longer so i could hear more of this beautiful performance, but i guess ill just have to watch it over and over again. maybe that will help other find this edit: second listen, still hauntingly beautiful
Thank you for the kind words, sorry for the short arrangement haha I didn't really have any ideas for addition contrasting sections that I liked so I just kept it short as is. Glad you enjoyed it though :)
hello, yes, i absolutely *would* like to sob my fucking lungs out. i play ocarina as well, though not to the level of professionalism that you're producing at and ocarina covers of songs are relatively rare, so your instrument of choice is an extra kick to the chest. i love it and am subscribing immediately.
Woah, wasn't expecting something that good when I clicked this. This cover reminds me a lot of "The Path of the Wind" from Joe Hisaishi (the one who wrote for Ghibli), great job!
Dont do this too me!! You dont understand what its doing too my soul its ripping my heart apart my very being is being torn out and rearranged rn. I didnt need to experience the tears again. Its been years since i heard this and even now the child in me still lives and nostalgia smacked me in the face something fierce.
I don't know how I have been living my life without ocarina covers cause now that I have them thanks to you I never want to go back thank you for this it was so enjoyable
Whaaa!!! Absolutely gorgeous ;A; And alone fro watching its not only a wonderful display of skill but also a little lesson on how to improve with Ocarinas myself! The Half-Mouth(?) technique especially, never crossed my mind
Saying hello for the first time and goodbye for the last are the two hardest things to do in life
God my heart... It feels like it's being ripped out and forced to remember how sad this moment was in the game. Well done on the cover.
Thank you! And yeah this moment always hit the feels no matter how many playthroughs I did

This made me almost cry, I agree this song really does just hit everyone who has played these games hard with the feels

Someone on Twitter retweeted your Link, now I found an amazing Cover right here. Ocarina is an underrated (and hard) Instrument :0
Yes Ocarina is so underrated, and its hard when you have to play in a key with 6 flats like this tune haha
Whaaa!!! Absolutely gorgeous ;A;
And alone fro watching its not only a wonderful display of skill but also a little lesson on how to improve with Ocarinas myself! The Half-Mouth(?) technique especially, never crossed my mind
What do you mean by half-mouth technique? and thank you so much for the kind words :)
@@StevenHigbee Youre ewcome~
The thing where you cover only half the breathing hole and at a slight angle
@@Dirakiaa I'm actually fully covering the hole I'm blowing into, this ocarina has three separate holes/chambers
wow i did not know ocarinas sounded like that
Well I'm glad I can show you what ocarinas can do (especially the lower ones they sound so amazing)
Such a beautiful cover!
Thank you so much :)

great job

Do you think you would be able to cover "Time to set out" from the super mystery dungeon ost?
@@blueops2305 Ooooo I haven't really listened to super mystery dungeon (I never finished it oops)
Ill take a listen tho!

Glad that the algorithm led you here, sometimes it definitely takes us to really cool music at 2 in the morning haha
I had no idea how you were making suck low notes then I looked at the video and saw the giant ocarina-
Such** not suck 😭
These lower Ocarinas really do produce otherworldly sounds lol
Oooooh I love it !!! 😍
Just by curiosity, do you still have the tablature for this please?
