Mihoyo definitely improved a lot of MC’s kit. For Genshin’s example, they also make Dendro MC extremely good and useful too. My MC is still in my meta Nilou superbloom team.

The weapon fire MC uses is the same weapon Cocolia pierced them with during the cutscene btw. But in Cocolia's hands it was frozen cuz she abandoned Preservation and sided with the stellaron that was responsible for the eternal freeze. So much lore in a simple texture
it was also the control of the engine of creation, which is why the robot was suddenly on our side. You can tell there was a lot of effort and care put into this bossfight.
it's also mentioned in lore that the old guardians were able to make soldier's bodies stronger because of that weapon, which is a lore explanation for MC's defense abilities

I had taken multiple days off from work for Star Rail's release, sleep schedule destroyed, was around 3am after hours and hours of grinding, massively sleep deprived and too tired to continue on PC so I pulled out my tablet and got comfy in bed, and was drifting in and out of sleep when I got here. crazy that this is only the second act. like an actual amazing design and fantastic backing OST for such an early fight. This fight actually brought me from "i really like this game" to "this is the most hype game ive played in a hot second"
I'm always thoroughly amused how people in lets plays and reactions go on about how awesome the BGM to this fight is and then the vocals kick in. People forget how epic Hoyo's soundtracks can be, and this fight is an absolute flex on their part.

For a gacha game I wasn't expecting a battle to have this much spectacle. I'm just blown away by all the details that this fight and the moments leading up to it have. If this is a show of what's to come I can't wait for future updates.
My Steele was so overinvested at this point that I actually managed to take one quarter of Cocolia's first health bar with a few lucky critical strikes. Before I unlocked Fire mode
Cocolia being seems like a complete villain because This is her whole story, Jarilo-vi.... Villains in genshin is more like open ended because their cause is not that fully realize so... some villain may end as long they are connected to a bigger narrative they may never be a completed villain until the end.. i think
The Harbingers are not even the villains in Genshin. We still dont have enough knowledge regarding Celestia and the Abyss. That's why this fight feels more complete.

By all accounts they are a problem it’s just as a villain faction what they do is so detached from the travelers goals it’s hard to care bout them. Celestia is really just the long term higher powers while the abyss honestly just have so many different plot points going on it’s hard to keep track of what they actually do

Hoyo never disappoints, especially when it comes to the Honkai series. I swear though, from what I've seen, the Honkai dev team pays more attention to the community compared to the Genshin devs. Of course, the Genshin devs listens to the community's complaints and stuff, but it feels like the Honkai devs include their community into events and occasions more than the Genshin devs. One example is the Dreamy Euphony Concert, the last song that plays. I won't say what the song is for those who have not seen the concert yet, but if you are a Honkai 3rd player (new or veteran), I highly recommend you watch it at least once. Even if you don't play Honkai 3rd, watch it, though there are a lot of spoilers in the concert.
You can actually listen to the song and put in on the lobby in the Astral Express. You'd get the disk after the quest I think? The name of the song is 'Wildfire'

Interesting moment. The spear that MC in his Preservation(fire) mode using is exact same spear that Cocolia using before she turn her form *AND* exact same spear that pierces through us when we try to solo fight her. It makes it more awesome, because that spear, that covered with a layer of ice, she threw at us as if completely rejecting the path of Preservation. And we pull it out flaming as Preservation represents that flaming will to protect anyone that we have.

Thats honestly what i like about this game, so far, every character we have (even if not à lot) can be used, be it 4 or 5 stars, so i hope it stays like that and your not forced to use the meta to do ANYTHING.
In my case I use the express gang with Fire MC, March, Dan and Natasha, March still is usefull with her ice damage and because the MC gaves you a Shield just by breathing she helps a lot to break Ice Weaknes enemies, and with her Shields on top I beat enemies that normally hit to hard for my team (I forgot to lvl my relics for most of the game XD). Natasha is amazing and removes buffs, I had to upgrade one of her traces to removes debuffs for Kafka. Meanwhile Dan just hits so hard, he just tears Bosses apart even witouth Wind weakness.
That Cocolia forn is based on Herrscher of the Void and Herrscher of Ice and Herrscher of Rimestar from Honkai Impact 3. The appearance that is. She's also thirsty for power even in this universe lol
Thing I hate about Genshin is they try to make the archons so likable and the people of khaenri'ah seem like they did a terrible sin, yet the abyss was only created 200+ years after the archons nuked them lol It is probably more to Celestia's doing, but it's funny how we just forgive these gods for everything bad they did 500 years ago (or in Raiden's case, 5 seconds ago lol) yet absolutely hate and despise the cursed people turned monsters that THEY created. Even Wanderer they bullshit his story to make him a good guy now, he's practically absolved of all his sins because history doesn't remember him anymore. Tartaglia is literally the enemy, but I guess since we gotta sell him he's gotta actually be a really nice dude who just cares about his family, he's only doing bad things (that he enjoys) for them afterall! Yeah Genshin is pretty bad at writing "evil turned good" characters lol

He hasn't been absolved of his sins and MC doesn't see him as a friend. Giving a reason behind his actions and having him acknowledge his karma isn't the same as having him be forgiven.
@@chadachi3970 The abyss itself predates khaenri'ah so I think what you meant was the abyss order also It was celestia that nuked khaenri'ah not the archons, sorry but correct me if I'm wrong but according to the quest about sorush, the archons went to khaenri'ah to fight the monsters that came out of the abyss due to forbidden knowledge except for Rukkhadevata because she went to irminsul. Wanderer became a good guy but only for a short time until he got his memories back, he just became the lesser evil of himself. I wouldn't call Tartaglia a good guy either he has definitely killed tons of people before and I'm sure DIluc has done it, hell even the Traveler goes out to kill hillichurls and bandits everyday but the traveler is the MC so I guess the traveler can't be evil right?
@@paopao9989 Wanderer getting his memories back doesn't mean anything though, he was erased from history so he went from being a wanted criminal who wiped out clans to getting off free. They're excuse is "the Traveler can just tell those people," it's just bad writing. Tartaglia does kill people, but to let him be playable he had to get his story quest that basically said "actually he's a good person, he's doing this to care for his family" because China is strict about villain characters, they don't want people to sympathize with them, so they had to make Tartag somewhat of a good guy. Tartag even has voice lines about Traveling with you as if he's just your best pal, they definitely made him more of a grey character rather than a villain. Diluc and Traveler get the pass because "they're killing bad guys/monsters" so no one actually cares, even though you know, we found out Hillichurls are just cursed people with nothing left lol
IMO Star Rail's storytelling is better than Genshin's. Don't get me wrong, I love Genshin (AR 60 and have been playing since day one) but Paimon often times ruin the immersion and storytelling for me. I love how because there is no Paimon in SR, the MC is more engaged with the dialogue and story. I also love how sometimes characters have their own moments without the MC being there or joining in on the conversation. Edit: In terms of lore and story as of now, I do agree that Genshin is better since they already have so many story arcs and have established their world and character building more (especially Sumeru's archon quest, really good). But in terms of presentation and storytelling, I still think SR does it better. Proper lipsyncing, more engaging dialogues from the MC, and special moments between other characters without the MC always being by their side. I do look forward to what Genshin has in store for us for Fontaine though. Overall I do enjoy both of the game and this is just an opinion of mine, but I think it’s normal to compare the two games since it’s made by the same company. Let’s just hope they continue to be better and better.
One thing to to note is that Honkai Impact’s writing is responsible for this game too. So not only did Genshin’s relatively inexperienced writing team shoot themselves in the foot by dealing with Paimon, but now they’re also being outshined by the quality writing of hoyo’s newest game lol

Only thing I've heard about HI3's writing team lately is that they had the 7 Swords VN/Koloston writer do the last chapter instead of the writer that did most everything else which is why the finale sucked ass, I guess the reason could've been that he was working on HSR? Not sure if I really agree on HSR outshining, it has a much stronger foundation with the trio and the flavor text is so good it's practically the games identity. But Jarilo honestly wasn't as strong as any Archon quest since 2.4 (which is excluding 3 major arcs, but it's also everything in the last 1.5 years). Luofu has potential and it's not done yet but hearing people rave about how much better HSR supposedly is when we're hot off of Sumeru makes think people are just in the honeymoon phase rn

I've never played any mobile game and I actually despise them as cheap and shitty trash but this game.. It's basically a PS2-era turn-based JRPG made at the peak of the genre and then sprinkled with crack and it's fucking amazing.😢
Since you seem to enjoy Hoyoverse's content, I can confidently recommend you to try Honkai Impact 3rd as well, that especially if you enjoy sci-fi, space themes or time travel trope. The early few chapters may feel a little rough, but it only gets better and better and when you think they can't possibly make the story more epic than it already is, they just do it and they literally blow your mind. Something you may dislike about Honkai Impact, however is the fact that there's only female playable characters (some may consider this a +).

This fight was somehow easier for me since not only my FTB was doing crazy damage, Welt with his skill on a single target can DESTROY quite easily, it was just me pretty much spamming ult with those 2, cause if im remembering right, i had the node on Welt where his ult made EVERY ennemies tale 12% more damage for 2 turns, so it was quite easy lmao
I am so jealous of people who get Welt early on. I only thing I got his signature light cone on the standard banner by accident luck. It will take a long for me to get him.

its not a hard fight even if using all 4 star characters but as he said he only had 1 dps who turned into a tank, so his team turned into 3 supports and 1 tank which is terrible

to answer your question is because Cocolia is already a character with a complete story she is from Honkai Impact so she already has a complete backstory and relationships already formed with several characters and especially Bronya but in Genshin's case everything is new and everything is a mystery
the thing is, i feel like sumeru's story is still better as a whole BUT, this whole Cocolia boss fight is leagueess better than any genshin boss fight yet - maybe even honkai (but that's debatable). I think the reason why it may even shadow even some hi3 boss fights is how the cutscenes are similar to genshin where the entire setting of the scenes are from the game engine which feels more immersive. but the downside to this is that there's a limit to how much epic the cutscenes can be, while in hi3 it's limitless, thats why the cutscenes are a banger each and everytime.
I gotta disagree sumeru had some solid moments but as a whole jarilo blows sumeru out the water. Outside of nahida most of the cast really didn’t do much and weren’t all that interesting the biggest offenders being nilou and Candace, who just exist while cyno and al haitham were very boring and just the “ cool looking stone face boys” and nothing else. Scaramouche felt incredibly forced into the story and really had no ties with anything going on while dottore just showed up looked menacing and left. Nahida motivations while sad because she was locked away without being given a chance just hardly felt that impactful given the fact that the people of sumeru never really had much of a care for her nor did it feel like she was all that necessary for sumeru. Yes the sages were bad but where does nahida play a meaningful role? The relationship with sumeru and their god is so detached that her being saved and becoming more involved really didn’t feel that impactful in the grand scheme of things especially when it came to the motivations of the characters helping her because it’s the right thing rather than helping her because they care about her. All of this isn’t in jarilo, from the moment we get here every person who played a meaningful role did their part and actually felt like a proper character. Cocolia motivations felt connected to the story and world and wasn’t ham fisted like scaramouche and the cast got time to grow close so when we got these big moments they hit because the cast actually got time to care about each other and grow along the way. Something that’s lost in Sumeru

Same, but instead I built up March and Stelle. Both were at full HP when the fight was over in spite of having no healing sources.

Villains in genshin is more like open ended because their cause is not that fully realize so... some villain may end as long they are connected to a bigger narrative they may never be a completed villain until the end.. i think
The Harbingers are not even the villains in Genshin. We still dont have enough knowledge regarding Celestia and the Abyss. That's why this fight feels more complete.

The fatui are in fact the villains it’s just we’re dealing with 3 factions at the same time.
By all accounts they are a problem it’s just as a villain faction what they do is so detached from the travelers goals it’s hard to care bout them.
Celestia is really just the long term higher powers while the abyss honestly just have so many different plot points going on it’s hard to keep track of what they actually do

Hoyo never disappoints, especially when it comes to the Honkai series. I swear though, from what I've seen, the Honkai dev team pays more attention to the community compared to the Genshin devs. Of course, the Genshin devs listens to the community's complaints and stuff, but it feels like the Honkai devs include their community into events and occasions more than the Genshin devs.
One example is the Dreamy Euphony Concert, the last song that plays. I won't say what the song is for those who have not seen the concert yet, but if you are a Honkai 3rd player (new or veteran), I highly recommend you watch it at least once. Even if you don't play Honkai 3rd, watch it, though there are a lot of spoilers in the concert.

Interesting moment. The spear that MC in his Preservation(fire) mode using is exact same spear that Cocolia using before she turn her form *AND* exact same spear that pierces through us when we try to solo fight her. It makes it more awesome, because that spear, that covered with a layer of ice, she threw at us as if completely rejecting the path of Preservation. And we pull it out flaming as Preservation represents that flaming will to protect anyone that we have.

Btw. I really like the shielder MC. He never leaves my team. Ayo I just realized that both in this game and Genshin, I always have a defense based main team lol (mono geo).
MC and Natasha carried my survivability. Got Himeko as my first 5 star, and then got Svarog, so his and Himeko's counters are also so fun.
Thats honestly what i like about this game, so far, every character we have (even if not à lot) can be used, be it 4 or 5 stars, so i hope it stays like that and your not forced to use the meta to do ANYTHING.
In my case I use the express gang with Fire MC, March, Dan and Natasha, March still is usefull with her ice damage and because the MC gaves you a Shield just by breathing she helps a lot to break Ice Weaknes enemies, and with her Shields on top I beat enemies that normally hit to hard for my team (I forgot to lvl my relics for most of the game XD).
Natasha is amazing and removes buffs, I had to upgrade one of her traces to removes debuffs for Kafka. Meanwhile Dan just hits so hard, he just tears Bosses apart even witouth Wind weakness.
I was lucky so watch your journey live, thank you so much! Can't wait to see what will they do with this game in the future!
That Cocolia forn is based on Herrscher of the Void and Herrscher of Ice and Herrscher of Rimestar from Honkai Impact 3. The appearance that is. She's also thirsty for power even in this universe lol

We don’t reaaaaally know who the real evil in Genshin is. The heavenly principles chick? The abyss? The archons? The Tsaritsa? Celestia? Idk
Lorewise, everything points to celestia
Thing I hate about Genshin is they try to make the archons so likable and the people of khaenri'ah seem like they did a terrible sin, yet the abyss was only created 200+ years after the archons nuked them lol
It is probably more to Celestia's doing, but it's funny how we just forgive these gods for everything bad they did 500 years ago (or in Raiden's case, 5 seconds ago lol) yet absolutely hate and despise the cursed people turned monsters that THEY created.
Even Wanderer they bullshit his story to make him a good guy now, he's practically absolved of all his sins because history doesn't remember him anymore.
Tartaglia is literally the enemy, but I guess since we gotta sell him he's gotta actually be a really nice dude who just cares about his family, he's only doing bad things (that he enjoys) for them afterall!

He hasn't been absolved of his sins and MC doesn't see him as a friend. Giving a reason behind his actions and having him acknowledge his karma isn't the same as having him be forgiven.
@@chadachi3970 The abyss itself predates khaenri'ah so I think what you meant was the abyss order also It was celestia that nuked khaenri'ah not the archons, sorry but correct me if I'm wrong but according to the quest about sorush, the archons went to khaenri'ah to fight the monsters that came out of the abyss due to forbidden knowledge except for Rukkhadevata because she went to irminsul.
Wanderer became a good guy but only for a short time until he got his memories back, he just became the lesser evil of himself. I wouldn't call Tartaglia a good guy either he has definitely killed tons of people before and I'm sure DIluc has done it, hell even the Traveler goes out to kill hillichurls and bandits everyday but the traveler is the MC so I guess the traveler can't be evil right?
@@paopao9989 Wanderer getting his memories back doesn't mean anything though, he was erased from history so he went from being a wanted criminal who wiped out clans to getting off free. They're excuse is "the Traveler can just tell those people," it's just bad writing.
Tartaglia does kill people, but to let him be playable he had to get his story quest that basically said "actually he's a good person, he's doing this to care for his family" because China is strict about villain characters, they don't want people to sympathize with them, so they had to make Tartag somewhat of a good guy. Tartag even has voice lines about Traveling with you as if he's just your best pal, they definitely made him more of a grey character rather than a villain.
Diluc and Traveler get the pass because "they're killing bad guys/monsters" so no one actually cares, even though you know, we found out Hillichurls are just cursed people with nothing left lol
The music is what makes this fight so good. One of the best song produced by hoyoverse

IMO Star Rail's storytelling is better than Genshin's. Don't get me wrong, I love Genshin (AR 60 and have been playing since day one) but Paimon often times ruin the immersion and storytelling for me. I love how because there is no Paimon in SR, the MC is more engaged with the dialogue and story. I also love how sometimes characters have their own moments without the MC being there or joining in on the conversation.

In terms of lore and story as of now, I do agree that Genshin is better since they already have so many story arcs and have established their world and character building more (especially Sumeru's archon quest, really good). But in terms of presentation and storytelling, I still think SR does it better. Proper lipsyncing, more engaging dialogues from the MC, and special moments between other characters without the MC always being by their side. I do look forward to what Genshin has in store for us for Fontaine though. Overall I do enjoy both of the game and this is just an opinion of mine, but I think it’s normal to compare the two games since it’s made by the same company. Let’s just hope they continue to be better and better.
One thing to to note is that Honkai Impact’s writing is responsible for this game too. So not only did Genshin’s relatively inexperienced writing team shoot themselves in the foot by dealing with Paimon, but now they’re also being outshined by the quality writing of hoyo’s newest game lol

Only thing I've heard about HI3's writing team lately is that they had the 7 Swords VN/Koloston writer do the last chapter instead of the writer that did most everything else which is why the finale sucked ass, I guess the reason could've been that he was working on HSR?
Not sure if I really agree on HSR outshining, it has a much stronger foundation with the trio and the flavor text is so good it's practically the games identity. But Jarilo honestly wasn't as strong as any Archon quest since 2.4 (which is excluding 3 major arcs, but it's also everything in the last 1.5 years). Luofu has potential and it's not done yet but hearing people rave about how much better HSR supposedly is when we're hot off of Sumeru makes think people are just in the honeymoon phase rn

I've never played any mobile game and I actually despise them as cheap and shitty trash but this game..
It's basically a PS2-era turn-based JRPG made at the peak of the genre and then sprinkled with crack and it's fucking amazing.😢
While I agree that mostly all mobile games are cheap and crappy, there are some exceptions which I personally enjoy.
Since you seem to enjoy Hoyoverse's content, I can confidently recommend you to try Honkai Impact 3rd as well, that especially if you enjoy sci-fi, space themes or time travel trope.
The early few chapters may feel a little rough, but it only gets better and better and when you think they can't possibly make the story more epic than it already is, they just do it and they literally blow your mind.
Something you may dislike about Honkai Impact, however is the fact that there's only female playable characters (some may consider this a +).
The characters being female only is a hard negative to me. The only reason I can't take it seriously when I tried to play.

This fight was somehow easier for me since not only my FTB was doing crazy damage, Welt with his skill on a single target can DESTROY quite easily, it was just me pretty much spamming ult with those 2, cause if im remembering right, i had the node on Welt where his ult made EVERY ennemies tale 12% more damage for 2 turns, so it was quite easy lmao
I am so jealous of people who get Welt early on. I only thing I got his signature light cone on the standard banner by accident luck. It will take a long for me to get him.

its not a hard fight even if using all 4 star characters but as he said he only had 1 dps who turned into a tank, so his team turned into 3 supports and 1 tank which is terrible

to answer your question is because Cocolia is already a character with a complete story she is from Honkai Impact so she already has a complete backstory and relationships already formed with several characters and especially Bronya
but in Genshin's case everything is new and everything is a mystery
the thing is, i feel like sumeru's story is still better as a whole BUT, this whole Cocolia boss fight is leagueess better than any genshin boss fight yet - maybe even honkai (but that's debatable). I think the reason why it may even shadow even some hi3 boss fights is how the cutscenes are similar to genshin where the entire setting of the scenes are from the game engine which feels more immersive. but the downside to this is that there's a limit to how much epic the cutscenes can be, while in hi3 it's limitless, thats why the cutscenes are a banger each and everytime.

I gotta disagree sumeru had some solid moments but as a whole jarilo blows sumeru out the water.
Outside of nahida most of the cast really didn’t do much and weren’t all that interesting the biggest offenders being nilou and Candace, who just exist while cyno and al haitham were very boring and just the “ cool looking stone face boys” and nothing else.
Scaramouche felt incredibly forced into the story and really had no ties with anything going on while dottore just showed up looked menacing and left.
Nahida motivations while sad because she was locked away without being given a chance just hardly felt that impactful given the fact that the people of sumeru never really had much of a care for her nor did it feel like she was all that necessary for sumeru. Yes the sages were bad but where does nahida play a meaningful role? The relationship with sumeru and their god is so detached that her being saved and becoming more involved really didn’t feel that impactful in the grand scheme of things especially when it came to the motivations of the characters helping her because it’s the right thing rather than helping her because they care about her.
All of this isn’t in jarilo, from the moment we get here every person who played a meaningful role did their part and actually felt like a proper character. Cocolia motivations felt connected to the story and world and wasn’t ham fisted like scaramouche and the cast got time to grow close so when we got these big moments they hit because the cast actually got time to care about each other and grow along the way.
