I rebuilt a crash damaged Audi RS6 C7 & then sent the car over 5000 miles to Las Vegas for the SEMA car show. But moments after driving it in the US the engine gave up. I spent hours dismantling the engine to find the issue which turned out to be fuel. So now i either need to repair the standard RS6 engine or look at other options whilst @tavarish is here to help me!

@tavarish so when are you buying an RS6 ? 🤦♂️😂
Are you buying Matt’s RS 6 after it’s done ? 😂
I hate it so mutch
I was thinking, maybe he needs to take the engine out 6 times for it to work because it's an A'RSE 6 😂
Hmm... I saw u with one 😅
Can we appreciate Tavarish for letting you use his shop for a second? What a legend

Hard to explain, but he absolutely brings something quality.
True
Matt and his Tony’s relationship, fun and work together is what some many guys want.
Very true
It's called wisdom and charm! Agreed!
100% agree
As as former Audi Master Tech I can confirm... They were designed not to be worked on. The reason the fuel pump wont prime on the relay is because there is an independent fuel pump module. The easiest method is to lift the right side of the car only, then remove the pump. Most of the fuel will be pushed by gravity to the driver side of the tank. You can start syphoning from there. On a full tank you may have some mess to clean up. The tank has anti syphon tech so you can't get a hose down the fill if someone was wondering.
Don't you get an adaptor for the filler so you can use a funnel and jerry can if you run out? Or do you have to get transported to the nearest petrol station?
How Unbelievably difficult, lengthy, stressful and complex this Audi 'project' has turned out to be. But what really Amazes me is the perseverance and unfaded Joy of this team. Kudos to all of you guys!!
absolute champion who else takes a engine out twice in one video, other people would of split this into 5 episodes, also seems like dad is solving major issues in every video even if he is responsible for 1 or 2 🤣
yeah, Dad's clearly a master mech and tech
That's why he is DAD.

The emotional roller-coaster in this video was brutal. Hats off to you Mat. You have more patience than most!
Your dad is a very smart and talented mechanic.
I've been following these videos of the RS6 and it brings joy to my face seeing how you overcome problem after problem. I've done a little bit of auto work myself and it seems to go the same way. Seeing you not throw in the towel and learn from the process is inspiring.
Good god Mat .....I'm sat here after having my worst two days of leukemia so far and you've actually made me feel better !!! Seems to be an overly complicated engine. But props to Tavarish for letting all this happen while helping.
Complicated? Yes. Overly? No
Twin turbo V8s are well known for their simplicity and ease of maintenance. There is so much space to work around the engine. For mechanical masochists anyhow.
German engineering for you

I love the fact that you are doing all this with your dad - when he gets there at that age and time, at least you know you spent as much time as you could which I regret every day I did not do as much when adulting kicked in - I was away a lot.
Cherish it as much as you can, the good and bad, you only live once and it not many do such and as much activity together as you 2 do so cheers mates.
I love how chilled relaxed and positive this guy is even when it hit rocks bottom

We'll be singing.
Matt I genuinely don't know how you and your Dad keep such a great and positive attitude in light of such trials and tribulations. It's amazing to see.
The amount of money being made from those trials would make anyone smile. 100k+ veiws in an hour....thats not inconsequential. In terms of generating content the wrong fuel was a goldmine. Its a bit like Top Gear (RIP), its the chemistry of the people that matters. Im pretty sure that Matt, Dad and crew could make a great video putting together 3 pieces of mechano at this point.
@@jamesmaybrick2001 Doesn't change the fact that it's a huge amount of work on top of his trip over to the US was pretty much ruined, Sometimes it's about more than money. Him and his Dad were coming to make memories which I guess they did just not the one they wanted to.
100 noticed this too. pure positivity in life!!!
Come on Matt get this Audi going . You can do it.

This summarizes every major car project so perfectly for anyone who does their own work. Awesome attitude throughout though, and love the updates on the analysis and troubleshooting for the audience.
Hi. I've been getting your videos suggested to me by TH-cam for a long time. I decided to watch the first RS6 video yesterday and I watched the rest over a day or so. I love your positivity in the videos. You smile even when things are very obviously frustrating. The videography is great. The way you tell the story is great. I'm a new subscriber now. Mate! This was a bleeding mystery thriller that had me on the edge of my seat throughout. And, what a cliffhanger ending!! 👏👏👏👏 In all seriousness, you guys ROCK! Your perseverance, your determination, your positivity and your always present humour and modesty prevail. On top of that, Tavarish is a diamond geezer, with an incredible support crew! AMAZEBALLS from a MASSIVE British fan based in Los Angeles (MASSIVE as in my fanship of your channel, not in me being a HUGE Michelin man fatso). 🌟🍾👍
So good to see Freddie in thr video as u are using his garage
Man i rate the patience of Mat and the guys for always managing to smile and keep the build moving. I know for a fact id of blew my lid by now and im actually a calm person lol. Years ago i couldn't get locking nut off wheel on my Ford Orion ghia (showing my age lol) after 15min and plenty knuckle scrapping the boot lid rear arch and back window took the brunt of my frustration and temper with tyre iron swinging😮. Yes i did regret this 10min later.
The amount of patience of you and you're dad is insane. I failed sometimes, and I failed BIG (maybe not this big) , but never with that wide smile on my face. Heavy appreciations for everything you guys done on this. Big fan of Audi, I would never sell that car, after all of this you've been through. Best of luck!
Wow. That is crazy time for that job. Love Audi, but is these engine designs are madness.
Awesome to see a guy that breaks down apple products seeing someone else take apart less elegantly designed creations. Cheers Zollo
Tbf, all audis are shoehorned in to their engine bays.. and i dont know why they wouldn't have checked the starter prior to putting the engine in.
Same as all the coding, intake flaps, engine mounts, those rusty bolts on the crank pulley, marking vacuum lines with numbers, gettingthe right starter motor.. it's just about doing things properly.. the workshop manual is there for a reason.
And the S6/S7 is not the same engine as the Rs6/Rs7
@@TheDarkhorse82 it was an S6 starter motor rs7 engine
@@TheDarkhorse82 Great comments here, but these individuals seem not to heed any wise advice given in the comments section. As you wisely pointed out, to refit a starter motor from a seized engine without having tested it knowing the difficulty of access once the engine is fitted, is close to insanity. So is not labeling pipes with matching numbers to their locations, considering the amount fitted on this engine!. With all due respect, it's clear these guys are merely fitters, but not engineers... is a big difference. As soon as I spotted the melted electrode on a removed spark plug, I commented that detonation seemed apparent after having cut my own cylinder head profiles in the past. That's what happens when you run boost levels to the degree they are, detonation lies just around the corner due to the increased volumes of air passing into the engine. They will not learn from that, as they are going to do the same or similar by mapping this engine too, is a case or naivety!. The cause of the last engine failing, was not purely just down to the fuel octane rating alone. Could be compared to jumping off a boat into shark infested waters, knowing your friend had their leg bitten off at the same location you're jumping into!, cheers.
@@galaxion62I'm thinking of getting an Audi A7 2016 down to Nigeria.
DO you have knowledge on the car and its issues?
Is it an OK car to get seeing as our technicians are still left behind in terms of tech?

Facts man! I am a mechanic myself and when things like this happen, I honestly just want to give up and give the job to someone else 😂 If there’s anyone I feel bad for.. it’s him! That kind of dedication determination to get something done isn’t taught, they don’t make men like that no more haha
Fair play to you man for real, I would’ve thrown the towel when it seized icl. At the same time I need to take into account you guys do get paid a lot of money to do this shit, so I don’t feel as bad lmao, it’s quite literally his job I guess sooooo

A 40 minute masterpiece from Mat? Today gonna be a good day
Not for him..
As an automotive technician for over 35 years. Two ruels of thumb. Always bench test a starter when replacing a seized engine and, always tear a junkyard engine down to long block before installing. Always use the known good parts from the original engine. Never use a junkyard intake/exhaust manifold, fuel injectors, or other electronics. A regular mechanic would loose his ass having to pull the engine 2 or 3 times but, the good news is that for a youtuber, it's just more content. I mean. Who else can make money on an engine that won't start? You guts are great. I love the channel and It's so great that your back in Tavarish's shop. You work great together. I love it.

Their reactions these to these tests highlight their nature as true gents!
Starters are one thing I will always buy OEM from the dealership even if they cost more.
I've been through this SAME thing with Nissan in the 90's, went through 6 "rebuilt" Autozone starters then decided to try Checker Auto parts (now O'reilly auto parts) and after my 2nd starter from there I decided to buy from Nissan while it did cost more I no longer had any starter problems. Buying from the dealer normally means waiting for weeks etc.. But worth it
