I inherited a couple of Chinese trees from a somewhat 'well known' enthusiast, but I have been hesitant to tackle them. I have a lot of work ahead of me. Glad I found your site thru Nigel.
All of those trees are lovely, even the one that has not been pruned. I'm sure it will look as good as the others once you have wielded your scissors on it. A great video.
Your elms are absolutely beautiful! I recently purchased my first elm bonsai at a local nursery. I haven't touched it too much because I think it needs to acclimate to the new environment before I do any pruning or wiring. How often do you prune yours and is there a time of year to do it? My elm will be an indoor plant and sits on a south facing window with a ton of light.
I tend to prune mine whenever I feel they need it so every tree can be different. Also depends on weather you want a branch to thicken up or not. I keep all mine outside all year round so probably would grow at a different rate to keeping them indoors. Good luck with yours. Thanks.

Nice roots on the root over rock. Nice little curve to the trunk. Fresh soil to the roots and this tree is off to a good start for spring.

Thanks tom. That's a brass pot I found at a carboot sale. It had an artificial tree in it that I took out.
