Woooow! This is great! I’m actually an amateur composer and you’re right, most of the time the piano is beside you when composing. Another thing is I hum a melody in my head like if I’m walking or on the train, then record that humming melody but I also use a pitch finder since I don’t have a perfect pitch. It’s what my mentor usually advised for composing. 😃
Friend, keep it up! Your channel fascinates me and I think it is something that has a lot of daring and that with effort you will get the diffusion you deserve.
Great video, thank you for sharing! I have a question: at one point you mentioned studying other composers' processes. Could you recommend some resources for study?
Sorry for the late reply, but there's a series of books called "Composers on Composing for Band" and it lays out so many valuable insights on being a professional composer, including their processes. I know it's dedicated to band music, but it is applicable in any other genre like orchestra.
What's the workflow for composing for orchestra? Do you write out your sketches on piano first (either for two or four hands), or do you go straight into writing for each part of the orchestra? And how do you make it more "efficient" for you? Edit: added question ^^;;
Sorry for the late reply! I always try to start with a basic piano reduction for two hands with the primary melody and accompaniment and basic textural ideas. From there, I can orchestrate directly into my notation software. I've yet to find an efficient way, it's such a messy process of constantly editing and change things, but that's part of the creative process I suppose!
i do too get my music ideas for my mood how i feel and how the atmosphere where i am at. But does this ever happened to you while in the piano or taking a normal walk
Interesting and interesting! Keep up the pace!
Thanks!
Wow. I absolutely love your channel. It really gives an amazing perspective of music and life. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you so much!

That's great! When I hum a melody onto my phone when I'm walking or something, the pitch is all over the place too lol.
Same! But i usually come up with my best melodies at the piano, and on the violin!
You can learn things from everyone and everyone can teach something to everyone. Thanks for a great video!

@@CarlosLalonde Just an update, I did go ahead and order the first volume of that book. It's coming in tomorrow. Thanks again for the recommendation!

Both! More so when I walk in nature, but my mood influences much of my music.
Yes
What was the book you read to learn about other composers process?
Composers On Composing For Band by Mark Camphouse. There are a few volumes and they are really insightful!
(2:43) Composers look for structure”. But, do you compose for conductors?
я тоже иногда сочиняю музыку.Давай дружить?
Sure!
