I have tried composing my own music for years. My problem is that I write down a decent melody and bass line and that’s it. I can’t seem to go any further than the first few bars. So, instead of trying to compose my own music I started arranging from piano music. I do it for myself, basically. I “write” it into my computer (on Finale) and play it back. I would love to play my arrangements in the concert band I’m a member in, but the music isn’t “official” (I’m not sure how to go about making my arrangements “official”) and I don’t want to get in trouble with copyright infringements.
Yeah I've ran into those same concerns about arranging copyrighted music and showing it online. As long as you're not distributing or selling those arrangements without permission from the copyright owners, no one should give you any trouble. But of course, this is not legal advice!
