when I upload videos on youtube with ads I always deliberately say "skippable ads only!" and youtube decides "nah, we'll put double unskippable ads only" like I don't even know why they give you the option if they don't care
It's cool, most of their unskippable ads have a secret "skip this garbage" button of their own: next to the video timer on the ad, there's a little i in a circle, and if you click on it, there's usually a link that lets you cut the ad off and skip it, and it throws a "but why?" mini-questionnaire at you, with one of the options being, "irrelevant." Google HQ has received well over a thousand reports from me about damn near all their dumbshit ads being irrelevant, by now.
If the planet is habitable by the time I'm elderly, I'm worried ads will be like Black Mirror - where they scream at you if you look away. It's fucking gross that ads for legitimate businesses today are just like spam ads 10 years ago.

The worst part about the microsoft solitaire collection is the ads and the game have different sliders for the volume, so if you mute the game to listen to music, the ad will play at max volume as soon as it starts. One time I got a 40% plagiarism score on a short essay. I was *really* confused, so I had a look. It was my entire reference list. That was it. At least my referencing was spot on .-.
As an attorney, I'm eager to give my info out to many of these people. I'd be a multimillionaire after finishing the cases here in these vids. The plagiarism one can actually be so frustrating, especially in KS3 higher level, since they follow an examination boards curriculum, meaning most places with that will do the same/similar assignment questions. If you have 30 people in a course per year, and the school's plagiarism (Turnitin for me) software is connected to 100+ other schools, then as the years go on people's assignments can come up with higher plagiarism scores. My school used to just go off the percentage given, but now looks in detail at the plagiarism results, since it will literally pick up two words next to each other as plagiarism (For example, on an assignment about veterinary surgeons, the worlds "veterinary surgeons" came up as a plagiarised phrase for some people. Just that). So some people were getting like 1% plagiarised from like 40 different sources, such as essays written by people all over the world, making it up to like 30% of random 1 percentages. Like not even things people could cite, just if two or so words came up in a sentence as someone else writing the same topic? Plagiarism apparently
Seriously? When I was at university they would only look into plagiarism cases if turnitin gave a percentage of 40% or higher (or if there were other reasons to suspect plagiarism) but suspecting plagiarism at 1% is insane, especially when you're supposed to be quoting people etc.
How dare you all type words that I might be inclined to type at an undisclosed later date! That's plagiarism, and I will sue your theoretical pants off! No but really, we're calling use of the same two words that a topic is about in the first place "plagiarism," now?

I got McAfee because I'm like, "I have a new laptop, I never had to get an antivirus before, and I know this name." And then it took like 2 months to remove off of my computer. It installs a bunch of hidden files, all over the place, that continuously run, slowing the computer down, and you have to manually go and find them and uninstall each one. It was a nightmare and a half. If you ever get McAfee, immediately factory reset the computer. It is damaged beyond repair.
Regarding the ad checkpoints that used to appear... Well, for starters, that's what the invisible ads post was referring to (surprise surprise), but that isn't all. They aren't on the PC version either. For the longest time, they've just been invisible, replaced with a stupid countdown on the side warning you when an ad was going to pop up. Unless it was one of those ones that comes up on the bottom of the screen, then they have no warnings at all, and just pop up whenever they please.
I once got hit with a plagiarism notification when attending a university. The software said one of my carefully formatted citations was plagiarized along with parts of extremely common phrases that were part of various sentences. Were talking like three or four words in a row that are part of commonly used phrases. I immediately reached out to the prof and expressed my displeasure. Oh, and get this. This was a religious school that was actually hoping that everyone would regurgitate the exact same theological and philosophical positions for the rest of their lives.

As far as TH-cam ads goes, I’ve seen some ‘5 second’ ads be 8 seconds long and the countdown splits the 8 second ad into fifths to make it seem like 5 seconds.
1:54 in order to get our degrees from uni on our final paper, it had to pass through an automatic plagiarism check. If the percentage of "detected plagiarism" was higher than 4%, you were put under investigation. Mine came out at slightly above 3%, but I know the reason for it. I was writing my paper on a video game series, and the constant mentions in the text of the game's name and the names of the DLC in the very specific order of oldest to newest, separated by commas, caused big chunks of my text to be seen as plagiarism by the system. This was because many game wiki websites often list them in that specific order. I'm just happy the percentage wasn't higher x)
Whenever I watch a rerun on Twitch (I don’t use twitch for the livestreams, I watch the vods after) and every single time, there are like 6 30-second unskippable ads that play every 10 minutes. It’s honestly so frustrating but thankfully I have the patience. I see people complain about TH-cam ads all the time but I actually think they’re super short.
God, I almost had the same thing happen to me too with the parcel scam texts. I started picking up that some times they’ll use your phone number as the “tracking number” too
7:30 I used to play that on my Amazon fire tab when I was little, and it was free without ads Ah the good ol days, before you had to give people money for literally everything Used to be good but I can't even play the first games I ever played
On the game I play, I keep getting these Wordscapes ads. What they do is they either hide the X in a snowy treeline in the background or have the demo game be twice as long as the video ad you already have to watch.
It’s been said before but fake money is a spectacular way to drive customers away from your business. I wish I could be there to see what went through people’s minds to make them think that fake money would be a good advertising tactic
If only creators were able to choose when the ads would appear on their videos. it would be great, and probably most of them would pick the ending of the video for the ads
They don't get money if you don't watch the ads tho, and since no one watch the last sec of a video it usually end up skipped. (of course it doesn't matter if it's a small youtuber that does like 1€max the year)
2:16 "I don't sportsball at all." I will be lifting this convenience phrase. Since I'll likely forget where I got it, I just want to thank you now, Lexi.

On the topic of mobile game ads, I found an advertisement when I played a random mobile game for a few days, that was 100% unclosable. There was no x, and hitting the back buttons did nothing. I tried to close it for about 5 minutes, and just reopened the app to get rid of it. It happened once more, and was exactly the same. So yeah, I found a genuinely unclosable ad (aside from restarting the app)
For the first one- The game is Mech Arena and you don't need to complete it. There's about 5 of "Share this game with a friend" tasks and 1 make 1 ingame purchase. There's 6 extra things you can do that you could still complete the mission (get an Arachnos mech)
Things like this made me sad. Mobile games used to be things like Worl of Goo and the original Angry Birds and PvZ, fun and long lasting games that yes, had an initial cost, but pretty much nothing else. Atleast I found Stick rangers for when I dont have internet. That game is like a relic of an ancient, simpler, era. Free to play? Yes. Has Adds? yeah, but you can turn off Wifi and it doesnt come up with any bullshit, and they arent really intrusive, they only stop the game when you finish a level and it is not even guaranteed. Wanna turn them off? Sure, watch an add for 6 addless hours. And the game itself? Very neat and surprisingly deep RPG auto battler. They even have a help button for things like what does each stat do to each class and things like that. If only modern games where like that. Hell, they even have a New+ kind of thing
Me: Expresses sadness towards the fact that the mobile phone industry is pretty much a dumpster fire, and looks back on an old game that even with limited resources is far better than many modern games Some random account: MY LASTEST PHOTOS AND VIDEOS ARE IN THE LINK BELOW *spams links*
@Ace G I know, specially when they are implemented in a way that they dont interrupt the Game. Thats why I find it sad that an old game does it so right when modern ones dont
For me, that's the first Postknight game. Free to play, doesn't require Internet connection to play (though you might need it for other game mechanics like item contributions). This game was one of the rare instances where I tolerate ads, because after watching some ads (1-2 ads, no more than a minute long, requires Internet connection) you can receive your reward, fully heal your character or skip the timer for new quests, deliveries or items in the item shop.

Yes. Lexi, they’re talking about the ad markers basically being invisible now, and only leading into an ad with a small popup that says “Ads in x seconds”, or hell, not even displaying THAT, Or EVEN double dipping ads you *cant* skip either way.
11:22 back then you were able to see when ads will pop up and there was a great trick to not see those ads. That trick was especially useful on asmr videos, you just skip a bit over the yellow dot over every yellow dot and the ads wouldn't show anymore, TH-cam probably found out about that and that's why they are missing now. Which is sad because now i often get woken up when watching asmr videos.

I got McAfee because I'm like, "I have a new laptop, I never had to get an antivirus before, and I know this name."
And then it took like 2 months to remove off of my computer.

When I enrolled in uni, my high school made me pay $50 so they would send my official transcript to my uni.

Wait, isn't messing with mail considered on federal crime level like everywhere, how in the name of anything is Yahoo looping around the law so hard?
Email is not mail. The US mail service is a federally operated organization hence why messing with actual mail is a federal crime.
@@beckoningjinx1119 Looked into it, turns out federal privacy laws state that even with a shared computer, password protected e-mail accounts are private In fact, you cannot read, or modify emails, text messages, or other correspondences without consent at any time.
@@insaincaldo Context my dude. This does not violate any privacy law. This would be equivalent to the post office saying you need to pay extra for a P.O. Box that receives oversized packages. How does a service provider asking you to pay more for less inconvenience even sound like it has anything to do with privacy?
@@beckoningjinx1119 Except they are withholding private mail, unless you pay and even if nobody is looking at it, that's modification. The only right they have decide what mail you receive, on your instruction, which mostly means automated spam filters.
Probably the only way they are actually getting away with it is consent. People would have had to opt out and change mail, or give consent with the updated privacy policy following that update.
First, not only does Yahoo Mail still exist, my mom refuses to stop using it. Second, The fake money thing is also something a lot of religious groups do.

Phew. You dodged a bullet, man 😳
Whenever I watch a rerun on Twitch (I don’t use twitch for the livestreams, I watch the vods after) and every single time, there are like 6 30-second unskippable ads that play every 10 minutes.

I used to play that on my Amazon fire tab when I was little, and it was free without ads
Ah the good ol days, before you had to give people money for literally everything
Used to be good but I can't even play the first games I ever played
On the game I play, I keep getting these Wordscapes ads. What they do is they either hide the X in a snowy treeline in the background or have the demo game be twice as long as the video ad you already have to watch.

It’s been said before but fake money is a spectacular way to drive customers away from your business. I wish I could be there to see what went through people’s minds to make them think that fake money would be a good advertising tactic
If only creators were able to choose when the ads would appear on their videos. it would be great, and probably most of them would pick the ending of the video for the ads
Nah def not
They don't get money if you don't watch the ads tho, and since no one watch the last sec of a video it usually end up skipped. (of course it doesn't matter if it's a small youtuber that does like 1€max the year)
